  1. I am trying to find compatibility for my eATX motherboard on this case. I know it says it doesn't support it, but it's currently sitting in another case that technically says it's unsupportive. To figure this out, can someone give me the exact measurements between bend in the panel where the wiring comes in and the closest motherboard screw?

I would use a mouse to get to the game then use 1-2 controllers to play the games. I would be fine with usb 2 if there wouldn't be any noticeable difference. Do you think there would be any noticeable lag? I do care about this since I want to play some racing games and a couple of online games

  3. I am looking to play on my PC on my TV in the living room. It is not that far, 40ft cord should go from my pc, into the ceiling, and back out above the TV. Will that length work with putting a usb 3.0 hub on the other side for a mouse to start the games and a couple of controllers without noticeable lag?

The NH-U12A should be enough but you can also go with the NH-D12L for good clearance and better performance than the NH-U12A

    I didn't realize the D12L was a better cooler

  5. I am working on my next build and am wanting to ditch AIO's and go back to air coolers. I will not be overclocking but would like to have my CPU pretty cool without super high fan speeds. Would the Noctua NH-U12A be good enough for this or would I need to get the NH-U14s? I would prefer the NH-U12A for easier clearance

Really NF A12 are good as well as case fans than on a rad

Mixing 120 and 140mm may result in a worse overall look, and need 2 curves as they don't have same speed

And I doubt performance will be any different in both cases

I will not really be able to see the fans unless I take the mesh side panel off(using this case: https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/north/north/charcoal-black/ ) I just thought the side intake might work better with 140s and I will of course use a Noctua air cooler on my CPU. I was also planning on setting the curves differently on the fans blowing on the GPU than the cpu. But if the A12's would perform the same, then I guess it doesn't really matter?

  7. I am looking at building in this case soon and was planning on using Noctua fans because I've heard they perform great with low noise an I really like the color. I want to occupy every fan mount with the most efficient fan specific for that spot and mesh/filter it may have to pull air through and am looking for recommendations on the specific ones that will work the best for using lower RPMs. If they perform well at quiet levels I am willing to use the stock case fans with the Noctua fans: Just don't know much about them

3x120mm fans in front with for intake

1x120mm fan in back for exhaust

2x(120 or 140)mm fans in top for exhaust

2x(120 or 140)mm fans on side panel for intake

  8. I have recently started playing a couple games online on my PS4 with my friend who plays on a XBOX series S. In game chat is terrible and only work half the time, so I am looking for other options. Can I use an auxiliary splitter on my PS4 headset and have the game audio from my controller and the mic going into my phone for discord or xbox party chat via the app on my phone?

  9. I'm looking for TV recommendations. It will be used for watching movies and casual gaming, so input lag won't matter if it's not the best. I would like it to be a 4k smart TV 65" or bigger. I really don't want to go over $1,000 USD and of course the lower the better. Even though OLED looks amazing, I'm thinking of staying away from it due to believing it would put me over budget. So the better looking LED's will have to do. I don't have to have a smart TV if it saves enough $ or if it will get me a much better display for the money

  10. I am looking for a new pair of headphones to use for gaming. I do not need a headset because I use a separate mic and am looking for something that will clearly be able to hear where noises are coming from(footsteps/voices) and of course want it comfortable. I will not be listening to music and am hoping I can keep it under $100

What uses would you have for 2x 2TB Gen4 NVMe drives? That's a whole lotta money for very little/unnoticeable performance difference when just loading games and the like.

    I was looking at possible 2 x 1TB drives or 1 x 2TB drive

  12. I'm planning a new build and trying to figure out what storage to use in what configuration. I was planning on using a gen 4 m.2's for 2TB of storage. But if you have better recommendations, let me know.

Should I use a board and the included PCI E for m.2s?

Or should I save some money on this board and just put the m.2 under the heatsheild?

It really depends on what you're doing. Personally, I'd probably be waiting for AM5 later this year before buying anything since I do a lot of virtualization, and P and E cores don't do well with virtualiation. Intel CPUs are faster than everything but the 5950X in everything but a few workloads, as well as being cheaper for the same equivalent performance. Unless you have a reason not to, I'd go Alder Lake, but there are reasons a number of reasons to avoid it depending on your use case (It's very hot so SFF builds are very impractical with the 12900k, you have to run Windows 11 for the best performance, the heterogeneous architecture is new and you're an early adopter, some things just universally run faster on AMD CPUs, etc.).

You can't really go wrong with either, though I'd try to go alder lake unless you have a specific reason not to.

I believe alder lake would work just fine for me because my biggest use cases are gaming and some video editing

Unless you get that 6950X for dirt cheap or have a use case that scales linearly with more cores and get the Xeon for cheap, sell the board/CPU/RAM and get something new. Intel 12th gen has such better single thread performance that even in multi threaded applications something like the i5 12400 will perform about the same as the 6950x. If you wanna talk old Xeons, the Xeon E5 2699A V4 (the 22 core top of the line chip for the socket) is outperformed by the i7 12700, while you're able to buy the board and CPU for less money than just the cost of the Xeon on eBay (going by US prices). If you do a lot of virtualization and need the ton of threads, still go for one of the newer gen CPUs. The Ryzen 9 CPUs do great with virtualization tasks since they've got a lot of threads, you don't have to deal with P cores and E cores, and they do have some single core muscle.

Basically, unless you get something for criminally cheap, just sell your stuff and go current gen (if you really just need threads, maybe used 3950X)

In your opinion is the new Intel cpus or and better?

What speed do you pay for? You could go with a Docsis 3.1 modem like I did, I got the CM1000, Im assuming it will work on Spectrum as Im with Comcast. But on the Comcast network this modem is like rated for 940 Mbps. If you need faster than that then there is the S33 which has a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port, that will support the FASTEST speeds currently offered by any Cable provider.

That being said, Spectrum is the ONLY cable provider who A) Doesnt charge for a modem and B) Provides a standard modem. Ive heard support of customer owned modems could be crappy on their network, more of along the lines of it may work or it may not and not our problem. SO you might be better off using what modem they supply and buying a good router.

Thanks, with that I'll probably use their modem and get a good wifi router. Thanks for the input 🙂

  16. I want a fast wifi router and a modem to go with it(because what the internet companies supply always suck) The modem will be connected with a spectrum tv style cable.

This is what will be connected to the wifi: 5 security cameras, 1 gaming pc, 2 smart TVs, 1 game system and 4 mobile devices. I would like to stay away from netgear, but I would like it to be compatible with an app to change settings on the router. it will be going into a 1200 sq ft house near the middle of the home.

Do you have a support contract with Quickbooks?

The reason I ask is...and this was some years ago I supported a Quickbooks environment so things may have changed...if the system breaks (and quickbooks has a nasty tendency to break) the QB tech support team will probably refuse to help you running double businesses on one system. They were funny like that as I recall...

I don't know if we do, actually. But we back up our systems to a USB drive at the end of every day

  18. I was going to set up multiple users for my works quick books system(right now it's only on one PC) following these steps here: https://www.wizxpert.com/how-to-use-quickbooks-desktop-on-two-computers/

But before I do that, I wanted to make sure that it work work how I need it to. We have 2 separate business's on the main PC(the one we would set up as the server) and the others need to be able to access either one, no matter which on the server currently has pulled up. Will this work?

    Why not 120hz.

    The 3090 has HDMI 2.1 so 4k 120hz.

All my TVs are 4k 120hz, Ge-sync compatible and there are 65" versions of them.

For gaming and streaming the LG BX model is fine. If you are into 4K Blu-Ray the CX may be better. I can't tell the difference in the show room.

I use a Nanocell 85 as well and it is a better monitor than it is a TV and now it is the NanoCell 90 in 2021.

I use 2 for gaming but if I had young kids I would give them a pass. They may not remember to switch it off.

I burnt one in doing what we are doing now. That is why I bought the Nanocell.

I am not much of an adult.

Will I realistically feel a difference between oled and qled as far as response time?

I honestly didn't know that there was a 120hz tv. Right now I can't run it any higher then 60, but I'll probably upgrade my PC next year

Well, you didn't list a budget so this is easy. LG CX 65" OLED. Hands down. $2000.

Big brother to the extremely popular 48" CX OLED for PC gaming. 120Hz, Gsync, HDMI 2.1.

Well I don't really have a budget, so I'll definitely put that one on my list to look at.

I don't want to spend more then I have to, but I'd I decide it's worth the extra $ I will

  21. I am wanting to make a PC gaming setup in my living room with a big 4k TV. I was hoping a 65", decent response time, and 60 fps. I'm not sure if this exists(I know nothing about TVs) I would like to know yalls opinion on what/which TV or if you have better recommendations for what I want to do
