  1. they can stick in any orifice they feel necessary, if they dont like it they can ignore it like the rest of us have to, someone needs to step up and stop the constant law suits before it gets out of hand, nevermind it already has lol.
  2. ok, well i spoke to a tech savvy person about 20 mins ago and he was able to underclock my card safely with the same result, my power supply was 'easily sufficient' and he recommended i send the card back and its now in the post office awaiting its long journey. when he returns in the next few days if you have not worked out your issue i will show him this thread again and see if he is able to assist you also, good luck with your findings mate, if i think of anything that might help ill let you know but at this point it appears your better at this that i am.
  3. i dont have a 970 i have i have a r9 380x , but the problem is almost exactly the same, i have read countless threads on random googled forums that states "underclocking the card will improve the stability but does not fix the issue 100%" if alex find out what is wrong with his 970 there is a strong possibility the same issue applies with my card since the problem is identical. in my case i have a 700w antec bronze powersupply , i contacted gigabyte about it and they say (copied from the response) " The suggested power requirement for this graphics card is 500W with one 8-pin external power connector. " when i purchased the pc it has issues with crashing, after a few months of trying to fix it we came to the conclusion is was a bad batch of ram and we later found that gskill had recalled the ram due to having been shipped at the wrong voltage of something of that nature, the pc shop just rebuilt the entire pc 2 months ago to be sure it was solved, since then i have not had the issue return so im pretty sure all the rest of the hardware is fine (and the fact this issue only started when i installed the 380x makes me think its the card or software) i am looking a the CP of the card and it says "55 degrees c" | activity between 15 - 35% | 800-850mhz gpu clock | 1425 mhz memory clock (randomly jumping to 700mhz for a second than back to 1425mhz | 30 - 40% fan speed. i can record it on my phone if need be but i have slow upload speed so it could take a day or so before i can upload the video. im not tech savvy enough to touch any of the "clock" settings, and if i break it im screwed, i live in australia so the price of everything is inflated massively, 100% of items i have purchased online regarding pc components has been troublesome at the very least and last time i was unable to recover my 2000 dollars i spent on a pc and i cannot afford to replace the stuff anymore since i just forked out another 1500+ for this pc. whilst typing this message and not having a game run at all the issue popped up again twice (once it returned back to normal opperation the second time it dropped out completly... i am almost at the point where im going to literately throw it in the shed and leave the entire pc to rot until someone decides how much they wanna pay for it (scrap metal).
  4. i have 2 screens connected to mine via dvi, the screens work fine on my other pc with the same cables, have done for over a year, the screens both come up with the message "no input signal detected" , just now it crashed completely with a horrendous buzzing sound from the speakers. i dont have any other cables to test with atm. i think my card is faulty but i have no way to tell because a few other people have the same problem, some people have fixed it by rolling back to a previous driver, which didnt work for either me or alex, some people claim underclocking the card solves the problem which im not sure how to do. i would like to know how to disable the silent mode on my card since it seems to kick in half way through gaming, there is no information that i can find relevent to the card i have and i cant tell if its heat related because i cant see the screen to see what the temp is at .... what is a safe stress testing program that can record the temp's of the card during the problem? either way im going to stop here and let you guys help alex since this is his thread
  5. i have the exact same issue with an ati radeon r9 380x, followed all the same steps such as uninstalling drivers etc and no luck. im starting to get the idea windows is broken... has anyone had an issue with this on linux ? im not an expert with hardware nor am i skilled in the art of troubleshooting but since we have 2 different graphics cards of a similar performance from different vendors maybe there are some clues in a windows log somewhere. just a suggestion (checking for performance drop off's etc) does your 970 ever "come back" , mine will occasionally come back to normal and then repeat the crash eventually requiring the hard reset.
  6. ok, problem not solved by reinstalling old drivers and removing other vendors drivers, it just happened again twice, once while watching a youtube video, the other while opening the control panel to check the temps of the card. it did return to displaying the game's and video but the radeon control panel is transparent atm, i have included a picture of the control paneli to show what i mean.
  7. upate : i found "display driver uninstaller" so i removed all AMD and Nvidia display drivers -> rebooted and installed the older drivers mentioned above, so far so good..., i also much prefer the look of the control panel in the older driver package so double win at this point.
  8. i am downloading the drivers now, ill try anything at this point lol, thank you for helping, when i searched for "r9 380x black screen" i got a majority of results displaying " the same issue but with the '280' card, should i try using a driver removing software to uninstall the old drivers before installing the 'new/old' drivers? im not sure how to do it but it cant be that hard to remove the drivers.............. -knock knock ---> wood
  9. because i dont know what im doing when it comes to purchasing pc's, it seemed like a good idea at the time lol! i dont know what temp it runs at while gaming but it just did the black screen thing when i double clicked the radeon icon in the taskbar (by the clock), the pc was under no stress when it happened. the reason i dont know the temp it runs at is because i dont know how to test it properly hence the need to stress test it. i did a screenshot of the "tech power up gpu-z" at idle (while answering with this message) im not sure if it helps but i can try playing now with my 5 chars and see if it gets hot, what would be a normal temp to run at? im watching some video card related videos from linus atm to see if i can notice anything out of the ordinary. EDIT: i just checked and i only payed $312 for the gfx card but still 300 bux to much imo lol
  10. hi, i have recently(1 month ago) bought a radeon r9 380x gygabyte graphics card, when playing games it appears to crash, i get a black screen, the pc is still running fine and if i have music or youtube vids playing they coninue to do so with no interference, the problem has been happening since i got the card and i strictly only use that pc for multiboxing world of warcraft running 5 accounts. i have updated the graphics card drivers, and any no more updates can be found for my system that im aware of. i want to stress test the system but im not sure what kind of stress test program i should use and im not sure what ones are "safe" since i know factually some of them can and will push your hardware far beyond a reasonable testing point and blow it half way to neptune so i want to avoid that since if this pc dies im without a pc all together, and i will not purchase another 1 as i cannot afford to. i asked around the multiboxing community and several other people have the same system (apart from hdd's and ssd's) and have no problems running 8 - 10 accounts so im highly doubting 5 accounts of wow(low gfx settings) is making it crash, also the graphics card that came with the pc doesent have this problem (gtx 750 ti) i really hope i didnt just waste 350 dollars on a graphics card to find its broken unfortunately every time i say the word multibox people just ignore me or abuse me and say "your ruining the system by running multiple accounts i will not help you" so this is my last attempt at finding out whats wrong also im unable to return the card as im about 7 hours drive away from the pc shop and cannot afford to take anymore days off work (rural australia yayyyyyy..) if anyone can assist me that would be great and thank you in advance, if not ill just put the system in the shed to 'rot in pieces' for the next 5-6 years until someone decides to bin or burn it respectively, system specs are: i7 4790 k (not overclocked & no intent to) 16 gig gskill ripjawsx 1600mhz ram gigabyte h97 gaming 3 mobo 700w antec power supply i believe it is a bronze but should be more than enough to run the graphics card and dvd burner
