  1. @ShadowCaptain and @ThatCoolBlueKidd : Thank you for the info! Good to know.
  2. Hi, My PC specs are as follows: MSI MPower Z87 Motherboard Intel i5 Haswell 4670k processor (cooled by a Corsair H100i) 16GB Corsair DDR3 1666 Mhz RAM Zotac nVidia GTX780 Graphics Card (reference design) 1 256 GB Samsung 840 PRO SSD 1 120 GB Samsung 840 SSD 1 2 TB Western Digital Black HDD 27" Qnix IPS display (1440p) 1000W Seasonic PSU (80+Platinum) I built my system August last year, and it has served me exceptionally well. I had planned on upgrading parts of my PC every 12-18 months, and I want to purchase a second graphics card and run the 2 in SLI mode. My questions: a. Is it possible to SLI a GTX780 with a GTX780Ti, and are there be any caveats I should look out for? b. I have been looking at some refurbished models at Newegg.com, and they seem to have mostly positive reviews, with a great price! Any reason not to get a refurbished one? c. Will my reference design card SLI well with either a Direct CU2 or an ACX cooler designed one? Link to Newegg comparison page Thank you in advance for all the help!
  3. I was hoping it'd be a brownout. I tried hooking it up to a UPS, which should regulate any power fluctuations, and even with that installed, the computer randomly restarted.
  4. Hello all, I assembled my computer last August, and everything's been working splendidly up until from earlier this month. I even managed to install Mac OS X on it, and it worked lovelily with a Windows 8.1 & os x dual boot. PROBLEM: My computer, since last month, keeps randomly restarting. I have tried to pin it down to faulty software or a faulty hard drive, but it happens on both OS X and 8.1, and the software I have open at that time, obviously, do not matter. There is no pattern to the restarts. Sometimes, it will restart right after I boot up, and sometimes, the system will be rock solid, running for 3-4 days straight. My PC parts are here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3vAQ6 The only reason I have a 1000W PSU is because I want to get another graphics card in the near future, and the 850W version was out of supply when I purchased this. Any help with this will be helpful. If, as I fear, it is a PSU problem, how do I troubleshoot a faulty PSU?
  5. I always start with : - Google Chrome - Pidgin - WinRAR - Avast Antivirus - VLC
  6. D'oh! I thought the time shown on the side was the US time it'd be broadcast on, not my local time. I forget that some places actually do adjust to my timezone :') Argh! :P Next time I guess..
  7. Cool, thanks for the opinions
  8. Hey guys, Just a quick question regarding the zotac and asus gtx780 cards (Not the Direct CU OC version, one guy told me it's not available in India) Which is the better card to buy? Both cost the same, and look the same, and probably ARE the same, but does are any of them easier to over clock, or does anyone have better bundled software? I ask because I have never purchased a zotac component before, so I thought I'd ask around before settling on one. Thank you so much!
  9. Ooh that's interesting.. I am planning to put the system fan top, then radiator (not sure if that's doing it wrong though).. how's the clearance on top on the r4? I hear it's a fight to get the h100i in?
  10. Wow! That's a lot of fans!! Any links to your build? :D I'll check out the bitfenix ones... Understood. As for the LED strips.. I've never used one before, I'll look into them, thanks!
  11. Hey guys, I'm building my first pc in a long time, and I am going to be using a Fractal R4 case with an MSI MPower mobo and haswell, that's cooled by an h100i (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1lTfp) I am thinking of replacing the 140mms that come with the r4 to 2 Noctua 140mms in the front, and 1 blue or red or orange LED'd fan in the back, with 2 Noctua F12s to power the h100i on top in a pull config if I can fit it there. My question is: a : I bought a Noctua A14 FLX with the Fractal case, and it comes with a "low noise adapter". Should I plug the fan in using that? b : What is the best 140mm LED'd fan I can get for the back that's quiet and provides good airflow? I'm looking at the NZXT ones. Are they good? Also, I'm thinking about the blue LED one, but maybe the red or orange will look better with the yellow MSI accents? Thanks in advance!
  12. Well, power consumption would be ok I think, though will probably be high. The thing I am looking at is whether with 2 x 7970s in CF, how much of an improvement will it be on the 780, and whether I have to worry about microstuttering etc. Because with 2 7970s, it's round about $200 more than one single 780 (in India, at least)
  13. My grandparents have a P4 2.4Ghz with 256MB RAM running Windows XP. My grandfather uses it once a year to open MS Word and write.
  14. Thanks for the graph! The 780 does seem like a beast, with cost to match
  15. Thanks for the suggestions, @Masfiras, @WoodenMarker & @Dravic! I think I'll go with the i5, since as you say, the i5 and i7 aren't that different in terms of gaming! Is the 7970 comparable to the GTX780 btw? Thanks so much for all the input! Editing some of my choices now. I'm so stocked to start on this build! Finally, a computer I can totally be proud of
