  1. What if he connects the smaller monitor to the iGPU (Motherboard's port) .. would it still matter or is there a limit from Windows too ??
  2. So here is an issue for a Friend .. It's not resolved yet and need your advice for a solution.. PC Specs: AMD 7800X3D, Strix 4090, 64 GB RAM PC was connected to following Monitors and was working perfectly fine: Samsung G7 (2560x1440) Samsung G9 (5120x1440) He wanted an upgrade of the G9 .. so he got the new 57" G9 (7860x2160) Now .. The PC accepts only one monitor via DisplayPort .. The moment he connects both G7 (1440p) and G9 (Dual 4K) .. Windows crashes with Driver Error If he connects G7 over HDMI and G9 57" via DP .. then both work but the G9 is limited to 5120x1440 .. if he tries to raise the resolution manually to Dual 4K .. the PC crashes again .. Is he hitting a limit in 4090? is there a solution out of this ??
  3. I'm sure about the fan curve and surprised as well .. There is a curve for Chassis fan, CPU fan, AIO pump even .. but the PCH Fan (Chipset) isn't there .. If it's there I would've just disabled it .. Seems your suggestion is the only way to go .. I'll just disable it physically by removing the connector .. although it's a hassle .. But before doing that .. I'll check with my local Asus office if this board is still under warranty (Bought it 27-August-2019)
  4. Hi .. Few days back .. an annoying noise started coming from my main rig .. after troubleshooting .. It's confirmed that the source is the chipset fan .. when it spins .. it is noisy as if something is broken there .. Motherboard is Asus Crosshair VII Formula (x570) Is there a way to disable this fan ? The Fan's connector is covered with the shroud .. and the fan curves in BIOS don't show the PCH Fan .. Any 3rd party tool or another way to disable it ? The PC is more than one year old so I guess warranty should be over by now
  5. Go to this Bottleneck Calculator site: https://pc-builds.com/calculator/ See the maximum card within your budget that doesn't bottleneck more than 5% This would be your choice .. For anything more, I'd recommend that you change CPU as it's a bit old .. but this would be totally different story as you'll require new motherboard & RAM as well
  6. This one was a monster at its time Mine isn't much better in performance .. but it overclocks slightly better as it's smaller manufacturing process ..
  7. Correct .. was asking what would be factors to decide ? Bottlenecking is one for example .. which I don't see yet .. so all good
  8. Not yet .. I've checked with benchmarks and so .. seems fine so far ..
  9. Hi .. Question about my VR Rig (Rig 2 in signature) .. How long do you think I'm good to stay with Core i7 6900K ? I might have some upgrade budget in October .. is it worth upgrading CPU & Motherboard ? or should I just stay with 6900K for longer .. This rig is used mainly for VR Gaming and little video editing (not much) ..
  10. I know there is no official news yet about this .. But just checking expectations .. Do you think Ryzen 4000 would support AM4 platform (or at least latest x570) ?? My opinion : Yes .. Ryzen is doing kinda Tic-Toc style .. As Ryzen 2000 was an improvement of Ryzen 1000 ... and since Ryzen 3000 is a major step, then I expect Ryzen 4000 to be a minor improvement while 5000 to be major (and might need new motherboard)
  11. Get a Decent board .. you can upgrade the GPU later .. a Motherboard is something that will last long with you .. I would even suggest to go for x570 .. Keep in mind that future GPUs (Probably when you upgrade) will support PCIe 4.0 .. so why not have it from now .. I'd suggest Asus Crosshair VIII Hero Wifi .. or MSI Carbon ..
  12. Thanks .. I was leaning towards this option as it looks much better. But was worried a bit about temps
  13. I got the Corsair MP600 for my new Ryzen build .. Need an advise : Should I remove the heatsink and rely on Motherboard's heatsink (Asus Croshair VIII Formula) ? Or remove Motherboard M.2 cover and rely on supplied heatsink ?
  14. Any News on this ? I'm building a rig and got all parts except CPU as I'm waiting for 3950x ..
  15. Hi .. I need to build a new rig .. It'll be secondary mainly used for VR Plan is : Replace Graphics in existing Rig with 2060 Super or 5700 .. Build a new Rig and use the 2080 Ti in it .. Question is : Should I build the rig with Ryzen 3900x or wait for 3950x / new Threadripper ??
