  1. Working on moving the light to the right to give that a go. I tried it facing me again directly, but can't get used to the brightness right in front of me. I like the idea of the more side-light though, to get more depth. Is there a suggested "height" for the light?
  2. I'll try and turn the light to me again and play around with that. Also reading the pictures.
  3. Light, camera, action! But how to use the light? Hiya! I work from home full time, and unfortunately spend a lot of time in calls. While the vast majority of the people I have calls with won't expect or care for a "good quality image" - I do! I take pride in simple things like that, and have tried to have a good setup going on for a while now. I just can't seem to get the lighting tuned in right. It looks 'ok' these days, but the recent LTT video of youtuber pc setups made me question my lighting positions/usage (specifically when someone was called out for having a Key light aimed at the wall). I'm hoping that someone might have some good tips for me, as my google-fu has failed me so far. So this is what I'm working with in my office. - Small room / positioned myself in the corner. - Window just to the left of me and just above me. - Elgato lighting strip around desk (mostly for show :D) - Elgato keylight aimed at wall - Logitech C920 camera If I aim the elgato keylight at me I generally find it too bright to comfortably look at my screen/camera, even if the brightness is dropped down, perhaps it's just in the wrong place and should not be in front of me? I know the camera is pretty basic, but it is what I have. I certainly could upgrade if there is something out that that would be sure to fix it all. I'm not a streamer, just like nice things and do my job efficiently (hence the setup/tools). I keep the blinds closed when I am on camera as the non-natural lighting (fixed light form keylight) generally makes a big difference to not make me look like an alien. Picture for reference: Camera at the top of my monitor. Elgato Keylight in the middle at the back, aimed up (as I thought that worked best) Windows to the side and above me. Not relevant but in case people are wondering - I just got into VR with a Quest2 - so have that cable dangling there for the Link cable. I could have unhooked them to tidy them away - but did not. /shrug - Bed in my office? Madness! - Yes it is. Spare bed in case we have visitors, flipped it sideways (used ratchet straps on the mattress to prevent it from falling down) to a bit more space. Am going to build a fold-away bed on the wall there. - Waifu's!?. Yes. WFH perk, they keep my anger at bay and sanity at a reasonable level in my line of work. - 4 monitors? Yeah, I love it. have all 4 connected to work pc, can't imagine having less real estate space for everything. Only the 2 main (curved) monitors are connected to my home pc. 1 set of peripherals, go through a USB hub and USB switch. - That monitor arm there looks a bit tilted... Yes it does! Not a weight thing, a "DOH!!" thing. They are drilled into a frame I made, I derped and did not check if it was level before drilling it. Will fix that at some point, it just looks wrong (but is fine) - Nice chair! Thanks, getting a bit old unfortunately, it's wearing.
  4. Yeah. This is part of the reason why I tried undervolting it a bit, as I figured that might help keep temps down. I might look into "proper" water cooling at some point, but not for now. Not too happy with the AIO I put in there for my CPU. Cooling is fine, but software for it does not work and would like to monitor things a bit more. So an overall "real" water cooling solution might be something I'd look into down the line. Happy with where it is at now though, will see if I get an urge to boost it more down the line.
  5. I've used MPT to give it more power. I tried the manual way first, but could not get it to "stick". Re-reading: I don't think I did this when doing it the manual way first. Likely why.. Oh well. So far I've been getting this on average: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/78634306? This is with the power set to 800 (does not really go above 480 when doing my 3dmark tests), and Min/Max Frequency of the GPU set to 2619 - 2719MHz and undervolting to 1150mV. I've messed around with VRAM Tuning as well, but not been getting much in regards to better scores. I've been able to mess a bit boosting frequencies and such, but with this setup I get easily over 23500. The best score I had was 23751 I think. Happy with that.
  6. I don't know how far I want to try and push the car, as I don't want it to burn out or break it. So far, I've been able to add roughly an extra 1000 points. Currently messing with restricting voltage to the card after giving it access to more power.
  7. I have some work ahead of me, thanks for the resources!
  8. I previously used the "set to default" option in the BIOS, without any success. What you said here made me look into the bios a bit further. Spoiler: Performance is back to what it should be. I loaded the "Optimized default" bios state instead of 'just" setting everything to default (different option). After that I did go through the same settings again as shown in my first post, to enable various settings/PBO etc. - Low and behold, it's fixed! (Just had to go back in again and enable AMD Smart access memory, forgot that one)! CPU is hitting Mhz limits there, but temps (not shown in that one) are staying well below 70. Might try and mess with PBO2 now to try and get over 20k! Update: We did it! Happy with that now, think I'll leave it there. Thanks again so much for the assistance and guidance @RONOTHAN##

  10. Ah bugger. Should be public now. I really appreciate you looking into all this.
  11. I was following this guide to make changes in my Bios, as it's the same Bios I use here (albeit mine is a newer version): https://intensewebs.com/index.php/amd/amd-cpu/key-points-ryzen-oc Motherboard I use is a: Asus TUF 570-Plus Gaming That guide states there are 3 PBO settings to adjust. I could only find 1. Ran it again with the HWINFO64 monitoring in the background: Uploaded the Monitor.csv and report.txt here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hlM20la6nIx7K_IQn5O89VRus7eM_7cA?usp=sharing Just for reference, this result: VS result "before I pressed that damn button" All I wanted was to get that score to 20k .
  12. I've now enabled PBO again. Found a video for my BIOS and followed that. I could not find all PBO options they had though, but enabled the ones I could find. Not messing with specific limits or anything, will read up on that before making changes directly. No, that was Time Spy vanilla. Hitting 10k (low 10k range) there. On Extreme I hit 4511. Both tests done after enabling PBO.
  13. I have not even done any gaming yet since I got my new GPU and changed the cooler around. Clogged with work and sunny weather means my wife demands me to paint the house (outside) :P. So I have just been running the benchmarks in the background whilst working away to see what has changed since getting the new hardware. Unfortunately after pressing that Overclock button, the scores have gone down hard on the CPU front. Its possible this is not noticeable at all when gaming, but still worries me.
  14. Thanks for checking in, that's one of the few things I did remember to do after the bios default/update :D. That would be DOCP for my CPU/Motherboard.
  15. Hi, it's me again. So I recently replaced my faulty 6950xt and at the same time replaced my CPU cooler with an EK-280mm AIO. It was all running well and cool - so I figured, let's see if we can boost this a bit! I am no overclocker or anything like that, so figured the "auto overclock button" there would give me a small boost and I'd be happy. (If I could get small increase, my Time Spy Score would go to 20k :P). Unfortunately, it did the opposite. I don't have much to compare things too, and I am not even sure this translates to any loss or gain when gaming. But my previous scores in Time Spy for CPU were 11898 (11500+average). Now after pressing that stupid button, it was at 9k. Quite a drop! I've managed to get teh score "back up" to 10k (10.111) after resetting the BIOS (even updated it as there was a recent update) and re-enabling DCOP and AMD Smart Access. But that's still quite a bit below what I used to have. I've uninstalled all the Asus stuff now (Amourcrate, Asus Zen) - halp.
  16. New GPU: Benchmark: TIME SPY CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-Core Processor GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT, MSI Gaming X Trio Score: 19,824 Total; GPU Score 22,466, CPU Score 11,898 3DMark Link: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/78295725
  17. I know it's been a while, but figured I'd give an udpate! After going back and forth for a bit with AMD tech. All tech options have been exhausted. The card was running far hotter than should be possible for stock, outside of case etc. Likely an issue with the graphite pads, they referred me for an RMA. Well, sort off. They did not have the card in stock, so getting a full refund instead. Already ordered a replacement, went with the MSI I 6950 XT Gaming X Trio. As I was ordering bits anyway, went with an AIO for my CPU as well, just to remove some more residual heat from the case just in case (and looks nicer). Included the vertical GPU mount for my case as well, but not sure if I'll be using that yet. Just in case
  18. Any gain is an improvement for the GPU. :P. I think going AIO might be a big step though, as that would remove that big cooler blocking airflow as well. Just need to figure out which now, or if a new case is the better solution first. Shame it would remove 2 of the new 140noctua fans I got
  19. Good to know the CPU temps are ok. I'll likely still re-paste soon (I just feel like I did a bad job with the last bit I had left, likely needs a bit more), and monitor just in case (monitoring GPU temps anyway). GPU temps need to go down for sure so, I'm guessing it might be thermal throttling as a result? I looked into coolers for it, but not found anything so far. Might just be too soon. It's the AMD reference card, so will see what I can find. I'll keep this thread updated. A good idea, had not considered that at all. Will play around with that. Perhaps Turn it around as well, so push air in from the top and top-front (hope some gets to the gpu), and remove air from top-back and bottom-front. See if that moves air through the case better, and perhaps removes more warm air from around the GPU.
  20. My first real gaming PC was water cooled, but even that was pre-build for me at the time (old Alienware thing, mahoosive - dual GTX880's. Oh the good old days :D). Watercooling looks awesome, but I am not sure I want to invest the time and care into that. I'm old, have kids, spend too much time changing them already to worry about changing coolant. I am not planning on doing any crazy overclocking either, so ideally would keep it as easy and safe as possible. - I can certainly remove the side/front panels to allow for more air, that's not something I've tried. - Radeon chill - will try that as well. It states it will cost some FPS, so felt wrong to try using that right away. - I'll re-paste the CPU. I just used old thermal paste I had left from the previous CPU, was nothing great (and not that much either tbh). - Not keen on repasting GPU, or getting a different/water cool it. It's AMD's own card, I like how it looks and honestly would not be comfortable opening it up to do stuff either. - Replace case: Something I am considering as well if it can improve things drastically. Thanks for all the feedback and tips so far!
  21. Howdy hey! tldr: Help me cool my PC better! I started this PC build about a year ago, and after finally getting a GPU for it (and upgrading the CPU I got at the time) I am now at a point where I want to fine tune it. And by that I mean, find a way to cool it better. AMD stuff seems to get toasty, and while I've not encountered any CPU thermal issues, I'd like to get it down more. As for the GPU hotness, I'd like to see that go down a fair bit. I'm currently air-cooling, and could consider an AIO solution if it would make a drastic improvement. I generally don't live in a hot country or anything, so would not be too concerned about ambient heat levels throughout the year. I just tested a bit of Doom Eternal on HDR/High settings (at 1440p), during which my CPU spiked at 83.5c and the GPU at 102c. (Starting level, only just got the game to try out fancypants GPU :P) I'm still figuring out what kind of settings I can use in different games, but I feel I should be able to push it higher without experiencing noticeable FPS drops/stuttering. I'm thinking that could be down to GPU throttling due to thermals. It sure likes to use the GPU fully though. Specifics of thermals/load from this can be found in a screenshot below. So my question is: What can I do to improve things. Should I worry about the current temperatures? Is there a "quick fix" or should I look into a different case all together? My system for reference: Case: PHANTEKS Eclipse P400A Mid Tower Fans: Noctua NF-A14 PWM (4x140mm 2 front, 2 top). 2x "case" 120's (1 on CPU cooler block, 1 on the back of the case). Motherboard: Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus Memory: 32GB (2x 16GB G.Skill DDR4) CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT PSU: Corsair RM850 - 850 W Storage: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB Monitor(s): AOC cq32g1 (2x) Fan orientation: (purple = 140mm. green = 120 mm) Open Hardware Monitor. Row 1 = idle. Row 2 = max (during Game session).
  22. I have just updated the bios as I read a lot of similar issues could fix that up - no change sadly.
  23. Hiya, I'm working from home these days, and have my home and work computers connected to the same monitors (mostly). My 2 main monitors have multiple inputs, so they are connected to both computers. I had no trouble switching inputs on my previous GPUs (Nvidia GTX970 / RTX2080), but since I changed to the AMD 6950XT it's giving me some trouble. Note I'm using the screen buttons to change inputs, as reconnecting the cable in the home PC does make it work. I just would like to be able to switch inputs again normally. I generally start my home PC first, everything is fine. Once the work PC is booted up I switch inputs, no problem here. I can now work away on my work PC using both my main screens. Now at times I might want to switch to my home PC (some time for legit work reasons, other time for break shenanigans). On the Nvidia GPU's I had no trouble with this, on the AMD card it is unfortunately not working out that well anymore. If I try and switch back to my home PC (display port) on Monitor 1, it just goes to black - and back to my work pc (back to HDMI input). It's not detecting a signal basically. (Home PC is still running, have a 3rd monitor attached to that directly that's still showing an active signal). If I just take the DP cable out of the home pc for a second and plug it back in, I can switch to it right away. If I try and switch back to my home PC (hdmi) on Monitor 2, it takes a few seconds to change but does change back. It can change back and forth properly (albeit slowly, more of a struggle than before). The way it's setup: Monitor 1: DisplayPort to Home pc HDMI to Work pc. (hdmi 1.2) Monitor 2: DisplayPort to Work pc. HDMI to Home pc. (hdmi 1.2) Halp! :D. I'm hoping it's something simple and straight forward, a setting in the AMD software perhaps that I've not found (not used AMD gpu's in a loooooong time).
