  1. this has been what is happening to me, i've tried just about everything to try to fix it, probably going to have to refund router and get a new one if all else fails
  2. Just tried 2 different merlin firmware builds, one of them i managed to download a game at full speed without crashing, although the second time around i did crash. same thing with the second build. I tried switching out the ethernet cables and managed to download a whole game again, but same thing repeated as above i'll probably try to run out my options as much as possible if there is any left but yeah, i think it might be done for. i'll probably try another merlin build tomorrow before I start sending it back, thanks for all the help you've given me so far and i'm completely open to any suggestions if someone has any. edit: forgot to mention i'll try leaving my modem off for a decent amount of time tomorrow and then give an update just to make sure.
  3. alright dude thanks for all of the suggestions. my steam for some reason isn't surpassing 22 mb now and I haven't crashed once. it seems very stable but i'm assuming if it goes back to 30-35+ it'll crash again, i'm not very educated on this but what could possibly be causing that? the same reason you listed before? bad network card maybe?
  4. ahh damn alright, i guess i'll have to whip out my other router and ship this one back and get a new one, would you mind recommending me any netgear routers that would be a better substitute? thanks for letting me know
  5. I've been trying out to figure out this strange problem i've been having recently, my internet recently got upgraded to 300/20 connection and I had to pick up a new router (asus rt-n66u, modem i'm using with this router is a technicolor 8715d) to accommodate the speeds, however when I start a download on steam my internet almost instantly disconnects. i have to close steam and then diagnose the problem and it gives me the error ''default gateway is not available, problem solved". and then i'm back online. i've tried downloading through battlenet/uplay and never disconnect, however it only reaches 20mb-30mb rather than 35-40 on steam. and i'm only having this problem w/ steam and nothing else, i've tried disabling dos protection, changing steam download region, disabling modem/router firewall, limiting bandwith on steam, changing dns servers etc. my network card is killer e2200./
