jackieAZ reacted to PC Player in My PC is making a weird buzzing noise when running at high FPS
Yes this is most likely a phenomenon called coil whine. It’s not harmful to your computer in any way, although it may be annoying. It basically just means that the GPU is actually working, and in some cards it is more noticeable than others. If you want some companies offer an RMA service for this, or you could try and reach out to the company/website that you bought the GPU from.

That got it! this was one of the things I was avoiding since it takes a step ladder to get up to it at a decent angle (machine is on a shelf above my desk).

Interesting side note Gigabyte apparently never bothered updating the firmware for this card.

jackieAZ reacted to harryk in Linus pirating XKCD-comics on WAN
I don't think he blatantly lied about the license, he just failed to read the entire line of text on the XKCD webpage. Wrong yes, but not something to be upset over.

As for the usage, WAN show is commercial however I think sharing the comic could fall under the super gray area of fair use. The comic was shown in commentary on another topic and was only very a minor portion of the whole show. Very different from what Randall Munroe aims to stop, which is the second hand selling of his comics.

Additionally the XKCD license text reads:
I interpret that Munroe does not mind people using his comics in limited capacity, even if it may be in a commercial setting.

Is the GPU still not mounted all the way? In the picture you posted above, it looks like it doesn't have screws holding it in and is bending down quite a bit.
The picture makes it look like the video cable is holding the GPU up.

Idk about the PCI lanes things off the top of my head, but have you tried verifying that theory by isolating/removing drives? Also doing similarly with your RAM sticks? Updated drivers?

jackieAZ reacted to manikyath in Is it bad to switch the hot and neutral polarity in AC?
functionally it doesnt matter, but for the sake of safety it does.
essentially, when wiring a switch on mains, you always want to break the live wire. if a sloppy technician along the way swaps wires and your switch now breaks the neutral, whatever you just turned off still has mains voltage supplied to it.

so yes... you can switch it without affecting the functionality of devices, but no, you should NEVER EVER swap them around in a house installation.

    Depending on the router you have, you should be to do one of  the following;
Limit the number of device that can connect at a time Set up MAC address control set your passwords longer turn off the WPS function What router to do you have?

MAC filtering is the option you're looking for. Most routers should have this

Turn on MAC address access control and only those MAC addresses that get added to the whitelist can connect.

    USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

Well they are registered with the BBB.

Couldn't determine if they are at the registered location, but considering that is google's fault. Can't use it against them.

BBB Information matches the information listed on the website.

Yelp Reviews for the CA address: https://www.yelp.com/biz/memorystock-stockton

And scam advisor backs up their claim of 20 years of business.

Oddly, they have their Employer Identification Number, used for paying taxes, right next to the Fed Tax ID, plainly listed on their website.

I see why you're questioning the site.

IN MY OPINION, FOLLOW AT YOUR OWN RISK. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS.
this is a safe site for all your ram needs. Why do I say that you ask? Oh, you're in for a treat.

    https://www.facebook.com/pg/memorystockupgrades/photos/?ref=page_internal
The RAM memes won me over. Not because they exist, but the YEARS of odd memes from rage comics to top text bottom text edits got me.

    USE AT YOUR OWN RISK:
But in my opinion, If the price beat a competitor, I'd go with this site.

NEVER USE  A SITE YOU DON'T 100% TRUST.

I totally get where you're coming from, but I wouldn't be too concerned. We as humans tend to notice when things happen coincidentally, and draw the conclusion that the two things must be related. This, in many cases, just isn't true. As far as I'm aware, there is no significant evidence to show that 5G is harmful. However, in your situation, I wouldn't blame you if you decided that you weren't comfortable with the tech and wanted to hold off on using it till it's been out for a while. After all, you got a kid to worry about.

LMMS is a decent one that comes to mind, but I'd personally recommend Reaper. It's free in the sense that WinRAR is free, it brings up a nag window that you can close after 5 sec. I think Reaper would be better for your nephew because in my opinion it is much easier to learn, and has a quicker workflow. I have personally used Reaper on a laptop with a Celeron and 2GB ram, so I'm sure it will work fine.

The only catch is that you would need a piano vst plugin to stick into reaper, as it doesn't come with one. I can recommend sites like VST4FREE and VSTPlanet for finding one of his choice, as well as other free instruments and effects plugins.

jackieAZ got a reaction from dreamcast4599 in help me choose a new platter hard drive
To be honest, I've heard everyone explain why so and so hard drive brand is reliable, or why so and so is the worst. I think that pretty much all the major brands are as reliable as one another; hard drives are just prone to failing/slowing down in general. With that in mind I'd just pick one that has the specs you need and go from there

BE WARY LINKING YOUR PHONE NUMBER TO DISCORD. Personal friends of mine have had a sharp increase in spam calls after doing so for other communities they are a part of. I refuse to do it personally.

@ LTT Staff - I hope you guys can look into replacing the phone number requirement with something else eventually, but I understand the need for a serious restriction on accounts joining the channel as it is a huge community.

Remember! - Discord is free, they had no income until they released Nitro, but that can't sustain them - they make money through other methods. And they have access to everything you ever say, type, or share through discord. Draw your own conclusions from that.
