Lurick reacted to Rocketdog2112 in TikTok, misinformation and Censorship
Except a book, movie or music can't hack or steal my information, my identity etc.

Yes, and putting someone in jail is not restricting freedom because they can still walk around in their little jail cell...
For those wondering, censorship is defined as:
or:
Just because you have other ways of communicating something doesn't mean the act of taking options away isn't censorship. By that logic, China isn't censoring anything at all. Them banning certain words on websites? That's not censorship because people can still say those words in their own homes. It's a silly argument to make that shows a lack of understanding of the word.
People said the same thing about books, movies, music, and so on.

Lurick reacted to mariushm in Can anyone help me identify what this heatsink fan connector does?
Considering it's just two wires, probably goes to some led on the plastic making a logo glow, or something like that.

Still no idea what you mean, i225 should show as igc0, igc1, igc2, igc3.
Given how cheap this device is, they may be using the old faulty i225 chips which will cause issues. You should specifically look for devices with i225 B3 or i226 which fixed the issues.

Lurick got a reaction from da na in Product key for downloaded installation media
That IS buying a key, download is saying you don't want physical media. What you download is the same as from the install media site.

I'm sorry but can you uhh..
Fix up your post because I'm having brain damage from reading this post over and over again to understand what language you're speaking but alas.
No interfaces found means it cannot detect those ports.
You're saying before installation there was interfaces available but after installation there is no interface available?
Hence error no interfaces and else i can't figure out the questions you have.

Watch in cinema or fullscreen mode - problem solved. Imo YouTube's player is by far the best of all the current streaming platforms.

You know there are buttons to increase the size of the video or even go fullscreen? Check the buttons in the lower right hand corner of the video. You can also simply close that chat window.

Lurick got a reaction from Tan3l6 in do i need to do anything like format or something with a new ssd before/during installing window 10?
All good, yah for new disks added to an existing install then yes you need to format in Windows though and add a drive letter as you said🙂

Lurick reacted to Tan3l6 in do i need to do anything like format or something with a new ssd before/during installing window 10?
Noted.
The installer usually needs to be on one form or another during installation or am I remembering wrong again? As you can't choose GPT or MBR during installation?
Though if they come GPT from factory there is no reason to worry anyway.
Edit (again): if the disk is in MBR, then this might help:

They are installing Windows fresh, you don't need any of this to do that.

Lurick reacted to Kilrah in do i need to do anything like format or something with a new ssd before/during installing window 10?
No, just select the free space in the installer and it'll do what's needed on its own.

Ransomware can encrypt network share files, if the infected client computer has write access to the files in the share it can see.

Lurick reacted to Levent in Has Microsoft given any justification as to why Intel 6th and 7th Gen, along with Zen 1, will not be supported by Windows 11?
This is what I had in my reddit saved posts for a while. It was lack of HCVI support.

Lurick reacted to Agall in Has Microsoft given any justification as to why Intel 6th and 7th Gen, along with Zen 1, will not be supported by Windows 11?
I thought it was because of the TPM version, but I haven't looked into it again yet.
The i7-7700K meet the minimun requierments to run Win11. But its not suported, Why? - Microsoft Community Hub
There's not even an instruction set extension difference, so it does seem like planned obsolescence.

Lurick reacted to Godlygamer23 in How much internet speed do you actually need?
For the cost change alone, the fiber connection is obviously the best value, and even if you don't consume all of the bandwidth, consuming more bandwidth than either of the other options alone makes it worth the extra cost IMO.

Lurick reacted to SansVarnic in Someone is posting slurs and porno in the forum... Mods, please ban this guy!
Already taken care of.
As mentioned, just report the offense and no need to make topics on it. 👍

Lurick reacted to Needfuldoer in How much internet speed do you actually need?
I would absolutely take 10 times the speed for an additional $10/mo.
Just having symmetrical speeds would be a game-changer. I'm on cable and I get about 500 down, 20 up. It sounds like my ISP is finally beginning to roll out DOCSIS 4.0 in my area, and they claim their plans will finally have symmetrical speeds.

As in the ethernet link to the PC goes through an ethernet coupler?
What type of ethernet cables are you using?
A make/model would be very helpful.

Lurick reacted to Agall in 4x16 or 2x32
If we're talking about a dual channel CPU, DDR5 especially, then 2x32GB is objectively better. The only reason to run 4 DIMMs in 2024 is if you need more than 96GB of RAM (then just go with an HEDT system really) or you want the aesthetics of all 4 DIMMs. Aesthetics are a reason to do something, but I don't think a very good one especially if it potentially compromises performance/stability.
Some company make inert blanks for aesthetics as well, where its basically dummy RAM sticks. Not that common though anymore, it seems.

Lurick reacted to Dedayog in 4x16 or 2x32
It's an either or, not a yes or no.
If same price, go 2x. Easier on memory controllers.
Go 4x if your OCD runs your life.

Lurick reacted to Donut417 in wifi faster than ethernet?
Doesnt work that way. Ethernet is is 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps , 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 5 Gbps or 10 Gbps. Nothing in between. 4 wires are needed for at least 100 Mbps, all 8 are needed for Gigabit and above. My only guess is maybe an issue with Windows, the driver, or some other software causing an issue.
