My friend bought a GT 210 and was all like "Yeah, I'm into PC gaming now!". He plays dota 2 at 720p, says skyrim runs on ultra, I'm pretty sure he doesn't know how to set the quality btw.

When I got my 6570, I tried playing all my games at crazy settings. The only one I succeded with was Portal (1080p, maxed out with 4X MSAA).

After working on PCs for nearly 20 years I have to say that the worst thing that anyone can do to their PC is to smoke near it. The tar in the cig is vaporized into the air and it sticks to all the hot parts in the PC. Then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust, then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust, then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust, then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust, then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust, then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust, then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust, then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust, then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust, then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust, then dust sticks to the tar, then the tar sticks to the dust....

I have actually seen worse. The old woman brought in a P4 computer that would boot up and run for about 2 minutes and then shut down. After opening the case I found the cause. The heatsink was so full of this garbage that the trailing edge of the fan had polished it smooth.

Actually ended up replacing the entire HSF.

I asked her if she smoked around her PC, she stated that she did and she kept the ash tray right in front of the PC because it pulled the smoke away from her face!!!!!

I should have charged more than I did for the health risks.

There's one of your problems , no but in all seriousness try going into the internet options on IE and go to the advanced tab, press the restore your settings button then press the reset button. If that doesn't work, try a different web browser like Chrome or opera

About 10 years ago I owned a line of 4 computer repair shops. One day a woman walked into one of the sites and asked "Can y'all put a bigger brain in my box?". I was lucky that  my business partner (a much more mature individual) was standing there as he smoothly took over the conversation. I very quickly excused myself from the conversation... left the area... and quickly forgot how to breath for about 5 minutes. After the lady left (with a full build sheet in hand) both my business partner and myself damn near died from laughing.

LOL back last summer i was working at a pc repair shop, i remember a man came in kinda shy looking lugging a dell xps 430 with him(after fixing so many dells i know most of the names by heart) and he came to the counter and i was like whats up, he said that he caught his son watching pornography and he wanted to delete the internet, i asked him to repeat because i thought i heard things and it took me a few seconds it process this situation, anyways i just went on to ask if his son knew about how a computer works and he said no. I then went on to show him how the ethernet works and told him that the internet shuts off if you take the ethernet out, its kinda a lie but its not far from the truth, he gave me £30 which i was happy about so i helped him with his pc back to his car. Sadly everyone i tell thinks im lieing, apart from my former boss

If I had a dime everythime I heard "it poped up in my browser and told me I had a virus, so I clicked ok", I would be a rich man. And is it really so hard for some people to at least skim through a installers Text to make sure it wouldn't install garbage. Anyways, my aunt seems to infect her pc on a weekly basis.... I don't mean some sort of simple aware... I mean full blown root kits and TROJANS. How do they get malwarebytes so quick . Also, who hates it when they try to uninstall the app by deleting the icon and core files needed to uninstall the adware/malwarebytes? Yeah.... Hehe great thread Btw.

After 14 years GameSpy has shut down.   RIP:   Feb. 21, 2013

GameSpy, as we know it, began in 1999. Today, 14 years later, it has reached the end of the road. We had a good run, and we want to sincerely thank all of you for reading and joining in discussions with us. It's been fantastic.

Just to be clear, we're not being shut down because PC gaming isn't a big, important, and growing thing -- because it is. That's not even debatable. It's not even because the GameSpy staff did a bad job of talking about it. Hell, from where I'm sitting we did anawesome job, particularly in covering the technical quality of PC versions of cross-platform games in our Port Authority features, reality-checking the hype of about-to-be-released big games with our Questions & Concerns series, delving into the nuances of MMORPGs, strategy, MOBAs, and simulations in our columns, regularly checking up on free-to-play games in Free Agent, calling out Microsoft's neglect of PC gamers, mocking Ubisoft's claims of a day-and-date PC release of Assassin's Creed 3, breaking the news on SimCity's lack of save/reload, and of course our amazingly bizarre The War Z interview.

For gamers out there that are of more advanced years. GameSpy was the only way that we could connect with friends, search for servers, and catch up on gaming news. For me at least this is a very sad day
