Wyre got a reaction from ForsakenLive in "Hyper212 Evo" of low profile air cooling?
Replace the stock 120mm fan with a Corsair SP120 quiet edition fan and it can keep even the ridiculous Core2Quad Extreme edition below threshold when overclocked to 4GHz. It hit 58ºC under full load with Prime95.
The Thermalright AXP-200 is also a killer cooler for low profile.

Wyre got a reaction from ygohome in What was your first computer?
Franklin Ace 1000
It was a clone of the Apple ][ plus. Cost over $1200 dollars in those days. Still half the price of the Apple.

Wyre got a reaction from flibberdipper in Why is this so expensive?
You are paying the apple tax... nothing more. There are better / faster / less expensive devices out there. You just have to look.

There is no such thing as future proofing a computer.
That being said - Go with the fastest cheapest one and do your best to keep the little beasty cool.

Version 0.2.2beta has been released http://goo.gl/csHjb5
This is a bug fix, which solely removes the issue new users were facing. If you continue to have issues, please tell me and I'll look into it, but this *should* fix the main cause.

I posted a screenshot of the install.
I even went so far as to uninstall - remove everything under appdata from the administrator account, and reinstall after a reboot. No change - it still doesnt show up.
Version of Aurora is 28.0a2 (2014-02-03)
Edit - made a new account and it doesnt work in the new account either...

I would suggest the Panasonic RP-HTX7. They are a bit retro... but they have a nice warm round tone and are fairly inexpensive. You can find them for around the $30 USD mark.

Wyre got a reaction from da na in Experiences with non-techies
About 10 years ago I owned a line of 4 computer repair shops. One day a woman walked into one of the sites and asked "Can y'all put a bigger brain in my box?". I was lucky that my business partner (a much more mature individual) was standing there as he smoothly took over the conversation. I very quickly excused myself from the conversation... left the area... and quickly forgot how to breath for about 5 minutes. After the lady left (with a full build sheet in hand) both my business partner and myself damn near died from laughing.
