Gabby2805 reacted to SpookyCitrus in Is my Corsair H100i V2 failing?
To be honest the client build was much quieter than my personal, I feel the Meshify C with Dark Rock Pro 4 had better noise levels mainly because the airflow is fantastic and the GPU doesn't have to work as hard to keep cool, my personal build is in an NZXT H500i with the H100i pro 2018 cooler, so liquid cooled and in an enclosed case with not too much area aside from the back for fan noise to escape, and the loudest part is my GPU when gaming. The fans on my GPU are the loudest in my system by far, it's an enclosed case with okay airflow so the GPU doesn't get adequate cooling and has to pretty much run 100% a majority of the time while under loads, the airflow is really my only regret about getting this case. But even with the jet engine that is my GPU the noise isn't audible when gaming or wearing my headset. The one I did for a client was a Fractile Design Meshify C, with the Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler and I replaced all the stock case fans with Be Quiet! Silent Wings 3 High RPM fans. So they're high rpm as well as super quiet with rubber screw threads and bushings to prevent vibration and noise. It all around was a very cool, very quiet build, the GPU and CPU coolers both get a heavy intake of cool air from the three intake fans plus the two fans on the Dark Rock Pro 4 blow directly out the rear exhaust fan, it's an ideal build for thermals and is pretty quiet. Plus the GPU never had to go into jet engine mode to keep cool even under full load.

I had the same issue with mine after 5 years of use. Used it in three different builds before it died a couple months ago, one morning I powered on my PC and my CPU was not cool at all jumped up to 74c in just a few minutes of web browsing which normally even overclocked I never saw above 42c. I reseated and reapplied thermal compound and nothing, ran a stress test and it instantly went to 90c. Pump had died so no water was moving through the rad or tubing just sitting there, went out and replaced it with an h100i pro 2018 edition mainly because it was on sale and I've never had an issue with corsair aios. Loving it so far but I recently did a build at work almost identical to mine but with a different case and a Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler and even with the same processor and overclock as mine the thermals were a tad better idle about 29c with the Dark Rock Pro 4 and my H100i pro is about 34c idle, the Dark Rock Pro 4 with a case like the Meshify C with some High RPM Noctua or Be Quiet fans is a killer when it comes to thermals, and I'm pretty tempted to make a little upgrade.

As far as I know, there isn't a DIY solution to fixing bad AIO pumps. You wouldn't be able to anyways without voiding your warranty. If you want just a temporary solution then you can pick up a cheap air cooler such as the Cooler Master Hyper 212 until your RMA goes through. I think they are about $30 (USD).

If you're looking to get away from liquid cooling completely, you can pick up a Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 or a Noctua NH-D15 for about $90 (USD). Either one of those will cool just as well if not better than your H100i while being quieter and you'll never have to worry about your cooler going bad ever again.

This happened to me. I found a really old thread on Microsoft Answers (for XP of all things). The fix worked for me under W7.

Under W7, my W10 drive is mapped to H:/

    Open Regedit and go to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
    Click on BootExecute.
This key is normally set to autocheck autochk *
Just add /K:H at the end before *.
So for example the new key is "autocheck autochk /k:H *"
If you have extra drives you can add these as shown below
    autocheck autochk /k:H /k:I *

Probably not your problem, but I had something similar once which turned out to be caused by my PCI wifi card. If I installed the wifi card the disk usage would go to 100% all the time, when I removed it it would just chill again. You could try to take it out and use a cable, I would be very interested to hear if that was the problem.

But you can still do one thing to make sure that it is indeed bad.. Try plugging the HDD into another PC and see the result..If its the same, change the HDD or move out for warranty purpose if it is under warranty.

i would probably format the drive that currently has windows on it as that seems like you could run into some issues with that.

yes you can. if its an OEM license like mine i just did this because I upgraded to ryzen and didn't want to deal with any driver issues. all you have to do is use the same code when you install windows and it should work just fine.

Name it "Eat"... So when someone ask you where you're going you say: "I'm busy, i wanna go to eat", and then you just sit there play games in loneliness while your friends are having a blast somewhere outside and you're swallowing sadness in together with your "Eat"

It's been successful, but it's essentially a lottery with 50/50 odds. If you play smart, you can get a legitimate key for that much, but there are just as many people selling used and stolen keys. It's very buyer beware.

Gabby2805 reacted to iiNNeX in Should I change the thermal paste that is pre-applied to the Corsair H100i?
I've had a H100i, and a H110i GT along with a NZXT X61 and most recently an EK Predator 240.

All of them came with budget paste, especially surprising from EK. They had their: EK-TIM Ectotherm in there which is like 4 bucks per syringe. Now EK ships their CPU blocks with that paste for the low end models, then the GC Gelid Exteme which they partnered up with for the mid to high range models and then their own EK-TIM Indigo Xtreme for the Elite CPU blocks.

Now I am not sure what exact paste Corsair uses for their AIOs, but I can bet you it's not going to be one of the top performers for sure as the likes of GC Gelid and the Kryonaut cost 1/6th of the unit, so that wouldn't be profitable for them. I do not remember the gains on H100i from changing paste, but I know it was a good amount as I had noise problems with the SP120s on there ramping up. The EK paste I changed from the Predator, I saw a gain of roughly 3C at full load which is a lot imo, especially if you are pushing your hadware to the limit. That gap further widened after the paste settled in after after a few weeks to around 5C.

Gabby2805 reacted to Suika in Should I change the thermal paste that is pre-applied to the Corsair H100i?
No they don't, last I read it was relatively quality stuff, a custom application would yield negligible results. The only reason to purchase thermal paste is to replace the existing application 12 months from now.

I personally reapply thermal paste every 6 months but because I clean my system often due to the dusty environment and my poor choice in case.

Just stick with the thermal paste on it if you don't have any. But you'll need to replace it later anyways, so get the thermal paste now if you want. Also, to clean thermal paste off, you need at least 90% isopropyl alcohol and a paper towel. You should replace the thermal paste at least every 9-12 months.

I beg to differ. I have the most basic AF140 QE's possible and they are extremely quiet at ~500-600RPM.

On the note of pressure, you would have fairly negative pressure, which you don't really want. Swap the fan to an intake in the bottom and then you'll be golden.
