  1. If there is a Linux version (and I very much hope there will be) I'd like to suggest a flatpak release. This would essentially make a universal package for all Linux variations.
  2. My headset does not have a removable cable or a microphone port on it. I'm not sure these are completely compatible
  3. Is there anything similar worth considering? Looking for something to pair with my DT770 pro
  4. As it turns out, the motherboard is more than capable of driving these headphones. You were right.
  5. I just bought a heavily discounted DT 770 250 ohm. Will my motherboard be able to drive those properly or do I need to purchase an amp? I wasn't initially looking for such a high impedance headset, but it was so much less expensive than the 80 ohm version, I couldn't pass it up. If I do need an amplifier, I'm open to some suggestions.
  6. one thing to remember is that you need to be running a valid kernel. RX6000 series for example: they require kernel 5.13 or newer to function. a distro like ubuntu 20.04 LTS won't work out of the box. where 21.10 or the upcoming 22.04 will. a choice like Arch or its derivatives like manjaro will be running very recent kernels as will fedora. when the RX7000 series gets released, there may not be day 1 support. it could be delayed by a few days or weeks depending on your distro. the proper kernel could be released prior to the GPU's as well. you have to keep an eye out when using very new hardware.
  7. I can't say anything about Windows, but they are likely built into one of the more recent Linux kernels. It's likely in one of the RC kernels at the moment.
  8. Depending on how this is implemented, I can see a resurgence of teamspeak, mumble and ventrilo servers.
  9. I'll argue against this. When I got my 6700xt, manjaro didn't support it on a fresh install while pop did. It was weeks later that Manjaro updated to a compatible default kernel.
  10. Let's face the facts here, both Luke and Linus are newbies. I would give them only two choices to pick from. PoP OS and Manjaro. The AUR is a very powerful tool and would make it very easy for them to find the packages they need without having to hunt for repositories or worry about building from source. This makes Manjaro very difficult to not recommend. Manjaro also has the advantage of having them pick their DE of choice up front whereas PoP they would need to add it after installation.
  11. I think this is the opportunity Nvidia needs to fix their 3090. Let's face it, the 3090 should have been a titan (with appropriate drivers). The new 3080ti could take the 3090's place and the 3090 can finally be the titan it deserves to be, but it won't happen.
  12. I certainly didn't close the page yet. Will you let us know when they sell out so we don't sit in the queue forever?
  13. Has anyone else gone into an infinite loop for validating the quiz? I started and completed the quiz within the first few minutes of the video going live. It still says right now "validating quiz"
  14. If this supports quick sync (I assume it will) it would be fantastic for media transcoding.
  15. I recently started messing around trying to overclock my 3600X. On automatic, PBO will give me an all core boost between 4.25 GHz to 4.28 GHz while using a -100 millivolts offset. On manual voltage I can get 4.35 GHz at 1.35 volts, a pretty solid result from what my research has shown. When I use offset voltage and target 1.35 volts (or any voltage for that matter) it won't post when manually inputting a multiplier setting. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? The motherboard in question is a Asus crosshair VI hero.
  16. I know the initially, ryzen first gen had difficulties achieving high memory speeds and that was made even worse when using 4 DIMMs Today achieving higher stable memory speeds is better than it ever was, but how is it when using 4 DIMMs. Would I be able to hit 3200 MHz (or higher) while using all 4?
  17. It looks like I may have fallen on a bit of a controversial subject here. I'll probably just auction it off on eBay with full disclosure, start it at $1 and I'll get what I get. if anyone's interested just PM me and I'll notify you when the auction goes up. It'll probably be a couple more weeks, I'm still waiting for my upgrade to come in.
  18. What would it take to remove such anxiety? In my case the CPU was delided about 2 years ago and has been working great ever since. I only brought it up to 4.9 for about an hour to do some testing, and then settled at 4.6 and it's been sitting there since. I don't mind taking a hit on value at all, I just wanted to know if I will or will not be taking i a hit
  19. I've got a really great 4790k, I was able to hit 4.9 gigahertz with a delid. Also, without using liquid metal, water cooling and a relatively low voltage. I'm pretty sure this chip is capable of 5ghz given some extra cooling as I ran out of headroom. I was wondering if it was worth more because of this, or less because of the delid
  20. He could run any of these for either laptop Choosing the right desktop manager is what makes a difference, the base OS means little to performance.
  21. Most heatsink material is either copper or aluminum. Neither of those are ferrous.
