  1. Yes, i think i finished my list and im ready to order them. So in the end i have 3 Ubiquiti UniFi 6 Lite 1 Ubiquiti Unifi Switch 8 (60W) or the newer one, they have the same price, 1 Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 10x and cables. EDIT: Apparently the edgerouter is out of stock for at least a couple of months and after a quick search i cant find it anyware in europe. back to the drawing board...
  2. I don't have any of the hardware yet, my isp's best option is VDSL 50mbps only for my area, divide that to 3 plus im not getting the full speed either, more like 40ish...thats why i'll probably need the second line in the near future. It does provide a generic Telekom speedport plus modem, its quite crapy by itself. Could you suggest a router that could power at least 3 U6-Lites and have at least 4 PoE ports ?
  3. Hey Falcon thanks for the answer, for the AP i went with the pro because in my area they have similar prices and the 3x3 mimo is nice to have. Also i think the U6-lite and wifi 6 is kind of beta right now and im not that conserned with future proofness at the moment. I mentioned the switch because i want a cleaner setup with a single PoE cable for each AP instead of having to route them all with injectors. I'm not sure about the Mikrotik after reading a bit, it can support dual-WAN but only has 1 PoE port and i was thinking if i should pair the APs with their own EdgeRouter 12P from ubiquiti instead.
  4. Hello fellas, im building a network for 3 villas to rent and need some help with the details. For now i have an idea to get a router and 3 Access points for each house and route them with RJ45. i want a router that can handle 2 lines from my ISP because the speed is kinda slow and wonky here so if i need more bandwith and speed in the future i will need the router to handle 2 lines then divide the bandwith to the 3 AP's with different ssid's. The hardwear im looking at at the moment are: for the router MikroTik RB3011UiAS-RM and for the AP's 3 Ubiquiti Unifi AP AC PRO and my laptop for setup. I also have a TP-Link SG108PE switch, could i use it to power the AP's with PoE ? I see my router has 1 PoE port, would it be better to buy the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 6P ? the access points will be on the 1st floor, of a 60m2 room and the 2nd floor is 20m2. there is a big metal staircase that connects the two floors that i fear will interfere with the signal but i think 1 AP per villa will be fine. I think the setup is adequate but i would really appreciate your input on it. thank you in advance.
  5. Hey everyone, i have a weird question, hopefully solvable. I have a dual monitor setup but i lack a second (DP) cable for my GTX 970 so i have one HDMI in the card and one HDMI in the motherboard. my question has two parts. First, when i play games, does having the second display with onboard graphics on decreases performance and if so how much could that be ( my CPU is i5 6600 and when i play games i have little to no apps running in the background ). And second is there a way, to turn off the display with the onboard when gaming with the discrete one ? Thanks in advance.
  6. i just build my first NAS/server/VPN rig and im not even that experienced with technology yet!

  7. I will, thanks again for your help! now that I'm off uni for the summer I will spend my time tinkering and learning which is great
  8. the case/chassis is not much of a problem, i have one available atm but thanks!
  9. Great answer Altecice, thanks yes it will be a bit difficult and time-consuming but that's the idea to get into it
  10. thanks for replying. my budget will be enough to make it running I'd say. currently, i have a build in mind that is around £350 / $450 plus whatever is needed for the networking part. I'm doing this project to learn more about servers and because its fun, even if it takes longer to get it running 'cause I'm still learning about it! so a prebuilt option is out.
  11. Good evening fellas, I need help with a project. I'm about to put together a relatively cheap computer that will act as a Server/NAS to transfer and access files when I'm away from home and a LAN server to hook up 3 of my computers that I currently have in my home so I can transfer files between them, access my desktop from outside the house and if possible (it depends on the hardware I will use) make a LAN server for light video gaming with friends in the future. I am quite then noob when it comes to servers and how to build one other than putting the hardware together and downloading a free server OS. My question is, what will I need to set up all the network properties of my project, for example, i want to put this server in a room where I have one of my desktops, currently occupying the only ethernet socket in the room. what do I need to connect the server with my desktop and both of them on the internet? I was thinking maybe a router or a network controller or something similar that will work for my setup. All bits of advice are welcome, thank you in advance. P.S I know using a cloud would probably be easier for me but I have a brother who does photo editing all the time so this server will sometimes act as storage for him as well. P.P.S I also love computers and I'm currently trying to broaden my knowledge on them, so I think it's a good project to get into it overall.
  12. Does SAS (12Gb/s) to USB 3.1/type-C (10Gb/s) cable exist ? I saw this HGST Ultrastar He10 HDD SAS version and thought that if it's possible with a 3.1 cable it could become a decent external storage drive. On paper at least.
  13. also, there is a fan directly on top of the CPU that provides fresh cool air on the cooler thus helping it cool better.
  14. Thanks, I've benchmarked the CPU quite a lot these past few days after I made the PC and the temps were always lower than 60 Celcius. there isn't much room in the case so I went with this low profile cooler and I've even played games with it using the integrated GPU without burning the CPU. I think for a low profile cooler it's pretty good.
  15. Hello everyone, I'm a newbie in the forum. I'd like to ask if I can fit a radiator on the bottom 2 fans of the Silverstone raven rvz01 case to watercool the GPU above them. I made my first build after 9 years and I went with these parts, http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/RcLDbv I was thinking about using one of the corsair GPU Liquid Cooling Brackets and a 240mm radiator and mount it on top of the case's slim fans but I'm not sure which as they are different in thickness. how many mm thick should the radiator be and is this actually doable or should I stick with the standard air cooling of the GPU ? Thank you in advance
