  1. There are multiple outputs on even $70 interfaces that can do what the GoXLR does with regards to multiple PC streaming, as for multiple audio devices, I can't find any references to what you mean online but if you mean that you can use any number of audio devices, well, yeah, you can always do that. To me it still sounds like it's a UMC202HD with only one input, no balanced outputs, an inline preamp and some macros, that's an extra $150+ for the 'convenience' of not having to buy real studio grade gear that will likely last you far longer than the consumer GoXLR. I understand it's a convenient solution for some streamers but my recommendation list is based on valu for money and this just doesn't provide enough of something special in the market for me to justify its addition to have it compete closely with the UMC1820 pricewise.
  2. And in the end there really is no way to check if they're fake without seeing them, price isn't the only indicator.
  3. But it does, every XLR mic I've ever owned has had a really simple design you can open with your bare hands except one single mic that you need to undo one screw that's visible from the outside...
  4. Digital volume controls artificially limit effective bit depth, physical controls just change the amount of power being sent, controlling physically is always preferable, that's why mixing desks, recording interfaces and high end amplifiers have physical volume controls..... @Derkoli explains it much better than I ever could though. I don't have time to find his last explanation but if you'd like it will be in his post history somewhere.
  5. You can also just do it in windows, you can't send the same source to multiple outputs but you can send different sources to different outputs. If you're looking for hardware options splitters and interfaces likely both will do what you're asking to differing degrees.
  6. Tbone MB88U, USB mics have a funny habit of just dying for no reason so those USB/combo mics are a great buy.
  7. Jesus you must really hate your friend (joke) Yeah, I'd suggest buying the Behringer C2 stereoset with the interface rather than that bundle. They sound great and are really cheap.
  8. What mic is it? if you're gifting it to them you may want to just get the C2 instead, the C1 really isn't a great microphone and those headphones likely aren't the best
  9. That kit comes with headphones and another microphone for $60, it would be much better value for you to just get the interface since you already have a mic.
  10. I don't know what to tell you, I sent it back and they refunded me, counterfeits exist everywhere and I don't mind it it's not the global version so long as that doesn't stop me from using it the way it was intended and it is usually fine.
  11. To be fair I bought the 8x before governments decided Huawei=bad but thanks, I'll keep your offer in mind, I usually do a fair amount of research before I get new stuff and they almost always end up coming from Aliexpress just because the pricing is better. I've had experience with one Xiaomi phone and it died for no reason about a week after I got it so I'm a little hesitant (Redmi note 6 pro from memory) but their fitness trackers are great and the TWS I got sent supposedly from them were certainly fakes. Before that I had a phone from Vernee and it served me well enough for the price, lasted a couple of years before the screen died on it. I suppose it's just a matter of time before the stupid small things my current phone does gets me annoyed enough to replace it.
  12. Yeah, I figured as much, why the US decided to make Huawei enemy number one doesn't make much sense to me but I suppose an upgrade might be in order and this one might not be a Huawei product....
  13. You misunderstand, I'm using an extender as a dedicated network card, it's not transmitting, just take the ethernet out from it and sent it to my PC. The speedtest servers I use aren't run by my ISP and the game more specifically is Overwatch, I don't play many other multiplayer games where ping matters. My ping sits at 60 and spikes to 300 fairly regularly and sometimes goes a lot higher. I suppose I'll just deal with it for now, many thanks.
  14. Make sure you check the price at Thomann before buying it, Amazon prices suck most of then time for audio gear.
  15. Hey guys, I'm using an Honor 8x (Chinese version) and though I've been following the XDA quite closely I've never found a way to update past Android 8.1 without losing access to Google services. I've tried every custom APK and sideload they've come up with but it always ends in me having to roll back to 8.1 and set it all up again. Even now every time I go in and out of battery saving mode it resets my default messaging app to the built in one and removes Google assistant from my voice assistant default app permission. It's just a bit of a pain and I thought I'd check in here and see if anyone knows of a workaround or solution. Appreciate any and all responses, Sloth
  16. Ambeo works pretty good if you implement it well, I use their Orbit plugin a tonne when I'm placing instruments in a mix. Other than that I can't say I have much experience besides baked in binaural surround with plugins like the aforementioned Valve one. Sure the real time ones aren't the highest resolution but how can you expect them to be? They don't have that long to process the audio for you so it's a trade off, you have to decide if you want the positionality at the cost of resolution or not.
  17. VLC is open source..... If it were going to do anything bad the open source community would have made a big deal out of it.
  18. Hey guys, I'm in Australia and anyone who lives here knows the tale of NBN but I won't go into it beyond this, long and short of it is the government did a big upgrade to fibre optic across the whole country but before they could implement it they lost an election and the other side turned it into FTTN and made it cost a bunch more and it sucks. Ever since this upgrade I've had some issues with latency when playing multiplayer games (on wifi using a range extender as my adapter bringing ethernet into my PC), it's not constant, I usually sit around 60ms in-game but that can spike to 300 and then play around in the high 100s which really doesn't help me do well. Speedtests always have my ping at around 11 ms so I assume this naturally higher base ping is due to using the extender but the spikes don't seem to line up with any other network activity. My question is this, do I need to run ethernet all the way along my house to fix the latency issues or is it possible that it's just the terrible fibre implementation and that won't do anything for me. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas I'd be grateful if they shared them here. Thanks Sloth
  19. Welcome to the world of ASIO drivers, sounds like you had a fun experience, remember that audio performance when using ASIO is CPU bound, more better CPU means more better latency.
  20. With respect, humans only hear in stereo but we use the minute differences in time between sound hitting each ear and things like spectral pinnae cues to effectively locate audio. These binaural effects let us hear surround from an inherently stereo source, our brain does the decoding. Modern virtual HRTF (Binaural stereo) sounds exactly like what our brains expect to hear so in reality when it's done right it's perfect. Valve has a really great binaural audio encoding plugin that's free to use on GitHub for game development but many other options also exist and they're great. Some of the older 'virtual surround' systems from Dolby, Razer and the like sucked ass, I agree but these newer ones are great.
  21. That one has two mic inputs and a reasonably powerful headphone amplifier, if you're in the UK make sure you check the price at Thomann before buying it but I think you'll enjoy it.
  22. Yep, what you want is an audio interface, not a mixer. Go to the link in my description, I have an explanation all about interfaces and a very large recommended gear list.
  23. If this is just to get your mic into your PC what you really want is an audio interface, check out the link in my description if you want to learn a bit about them or see my recommendations.
