  1. So, I have a X79 Sabertooth and a I7 3930k laying arround and I am thinking about building a NAS server (a small one) with this parts, but The 3930k is a Power hungry processor, what I want to know is if I tune the BIOS to Power saving (only 2 cores, turbo boost off, hyper threading off) and all of that, The 3930k Will be a viable option for a low consumption NAS server?
  2. I'm waiting for a new adapter to arrive, so I'll run benchmarks now and when it arrives. But I'm kinda considering the idea of leave the 710 in there. if there is no driver or windows problems (for now). I mean, I did some research and it might be ok, so why not. And thank you for your quick reply!! =D
  3. I know, I'm waiting for the new adapter to arrive. the GT 710 was like a quick fix (and only one available) to the problem, but after using it I'm kinda considering the idea of havin this second graphics card in there. so far I have found no reason not to, this post is exactly that btw, find out if anyone has experience in this.
  4. So, since last year, I have a GTX 1080 and 2 monitors, the main one 144hz 1080p (connected to the DVI output) and the second one an old 1440x900 (VGA output) using a HDMI to VGA adapter sice the 1080 does not have a VGA output. Last week this HDMI to VGA adapter stopped working, my only alternative to use the second monitor again, was to put my GT 710 (with has a VGA output) in another PCI-e (like back in the day, one card to process PhysX lol) Then I booted up the PC and it worked well, but I have some doubts and observations about that about this: - Installing new drivers, for example, can I do it the normal way or not? - Is that any instability issues that I can experience (windows, drivers or even games)? - I think I've gained some performance in games, I don't know if that is just an impression or what, but that's that - I've noticed that the main GPU (GTX 1080 is running a couple of degrees cooler in idle, and the base clock is much lower too (139MHz) Anyway, my main concern is with drivers and windows instability, I'm running this setup for the past two days, and it is working pretty good, no issues at all, but it just feels wrong, I don't know. If anyone has any experience with this kind of thing, I would appreciate it.
  5. Yes, The board is compatible with the 6 core i7s. The strange part is, even if I just reset all configurations in the BIOS (no overclock or anything), as soon as I change the memory settings from AUTO to Manual (all values still the same) the boart stops posting and all I get is the black screen. I already google it, and found nothing Thank you for the reply, I will visit the X58 thread.
  6. Hey, I just got a used Intel DX58SO with a Xeon X5650. I tried to overclock the X5650, but I cannot get over 3.1 GHz, I belve is something to do with the memory. When I tried to change the memory settings in the BIOS (all BIOS in stock settings, btw) from Auto to Manual, even if I put the exact same values as they were in Auto, the System just wont Boot at all, black screen and no signal at all. I dont know what is wrong with this MotherBoard, I would love to get at least 4.0 GHz in this thing, but I don't know what to do at this point. THINGS I ALLREADY TRIED: Change the memory (Hyper X 1866 MHz / Logic 1600 MHz) Change the BIOS itself (All three did the same thing) Change the memory Slot
  7. I think it has something "holding" the card, I tried 1.3V and still the same issue, this is not normal in any card
  8. is a reliable store, but here in Brazil, unfortunately ALL stores have the same 7-day return policy, not to mention that the process takes too long in most cases
  9. unfortunately the store says that the period to return is 7 days, and I have the card for almost a month
  10. i can't... i mean, the card has no issues in stock, the overclock is the problem (bought in a store)
  11. Well... I bought a GTX 780TI Classified KINGPIN 3 weeks ago...when the card arrived, I decided to overclock it, and see how far KINGPIN goes... but I was disappointed with the results... STOCK: 1200MHz -- 1.175v = normal Overclock: 1250MHz -- 1.175v = artifacts Overclock (with overvolt): 1250MHz -- 1.250v = artifacts too... I even contact EVGA and re-write the BIOS (Original BIOS) I dont know what is wrong, but thar is VERY strange... someone had the same problem, or can help me?
