I apparently need to get my wisdom teeth removed.  One has already gotten infected (and healed already) but that'll only keep happening from now on the doctor said.

I do have dental insurance.  But because 3 teeth are partially exposed, I need to go to a specialist and be put under to have them removed.

So I set up the consultation with the specialist.  They run my insurance.  Ends up, my insurance will only cover $1000 for  the full year.  Part of that was from the dental exam and teeth cleaning to figure out what the fuck was wrong with my mouth.  (I was having pain).  So the insurance will only cover $600.

I have to pay $3000 out of pocket.

Damn, I hope you have the means to because that's a crazy amount of money.

How the hell can it cost that much?

I moved into my own place this year, among life just moving fast in general the past two years, I don't have a spare 3 grand to drop right now.  As for cost, that's just the cost of American healthcare.

    That cost is absolutely insane.....

In the UK the most I've seen is about £100 per tooth, all in, and that's private treatment

Maybe like £2-300 if it needs to be done surgically under general anesthetic

Oh the cost is definitely absolutely insane.  Luckily for me, my credit card company was willing to increase my credit amount so I can now get my teeth removed.
