nevermind, I'm being totally stupid today, I think it's coz I'm over excited for this project I have in my mind, I can't even think straight, the 12 core has a turbo frequency of 2.9 GHz I'm definitely taking this one as no other cpu will give me this much horsepower at this price range (don't factor in the cost of the mobo as it doesn't count in my case >_<).

The GTX 1080 is not $700, the founders edition is an option that costs $700.

MSi Aero GTX 1080 is $600, there's also a few other options within $10 of $600.

    The 8GB RX 480 will be $230

We were comparing the cheapest high end solutions from pascal and polaris.

The two 8GB RX 480's will total $460
The cheapest GTX 1080 will total $600

    600 - 460 = 140

    (American Pricing)

the rx 480 is probably going to push 1080p at 100hz + and if you include a monitor in there it is a little above your budget if you want to edit videos. im putting a list together for you atm.

only one thing I'd change, the 1 TB seagate drive to a 2 TB seagate drive since the price difference doesn't justify going with only 1 TB storage.

Cryptonite got a reaction from TidaLWaveZ in Regarding the RX 480 AOTS benchmark at Computex
Yes, I'm sorry I didn't make it clear that I meant that the 480 is a sweetspot single GPU solution. if it performs around the same as a 980. I didn't mention or mean to mention CF. I meant to just include that a single 480 might be good enough for a lot of people and that people wouldn't need to even consider buying anything more expensive unless they planned on a 4k build, unless superbly more demanding games came out which I doubt since my 980 is still more than capable to max every single game I play at 1080p at ~ 60+ fps. I even DSR to 4k on a lot of my games just for fun. (the difference is minimal at 1080 since MSAA etc are adequate.)

So I'm super excited for how amazing the performance might be for the $200 - $300 range and would expect a lot of people that were even planning on buying a high end solution for 1080p to fall back to this option if it delivers on it's promised performance.

None, it'd be bad timing to get a GTX 970 now. Wait for the RX 480 - current rumours put it at GTX 980 (priced at $200) but we'll know for sure when benchmarks come out in a few weeks.

try installing windows on the new drive with the old drive completely disconnected, then afterward connect the old drive and attempt a format. windows is retarded in the sense that it sometimes saves crucial data of the OS on a secondary drive so when you even just unplug the second drive it won't boot.

wait, why not just in the windows installation setup choose to delete the partitions on the old drive? easiest format ever

it depends though, some PSUs use a single powerful rail and are not split, however split rails are the most common.

Nothing is stopping you from installing an old driver and then installing a new driver and seeing if there will be a difference.

still able to revert drivers if new ones make a card perform crap. I remember playing games on my 680 with drivers from the 320 range a month or two ago and only then noticed I needed to upgrade my drivers. didn't make much of a difference in most games but batman worked a bit better.

First, you should go for dual-channel memory (2xMemorysize), since it will be faster. But only if your cousin doesn't want to upgrade.
Second, try getting a Sapphire Nitro instead of the XFX Double Dissipation. It is better.
Last, if you have a little more money, try getting a 120GB SSD, for much faster gaming loadtimes and bootups

well I have a 250 GB intel 510 in my second rig and its performance is very close to my M2. Samsung 950 PRO when it comes to boot time and read/write speeds are pretty good too.

I'm quite wary of cheats. I mean, the product is listed as unused but the description says 'barely used'. I want him to show me the SSD, mount it, run the program, and then give it to me. Call it paranoia, but better safe than sorry, eh?

Yes, it is dangerous, but it's never going to explode. There is a tiny bit of acid in there that would dissolve metal, but not nearly enough to make a hole through a PC case.
