actually when the updates have already downloaded (since they can only be postponed for so long) you only get around 19 hours or so as a timeframe to delay the update from installing which in the cases of having to upload large files, doing system hard drive retrievals (timeframe, work cannot just wait it out) basically anything that takes hours to do like cloning a hard drive for a client etc. Windows gives a rats ass about any of it, it just wants its updates on your system. scroll up for more insight on my thoughts.

yes, there is. but windows hates us for doing it. it's called disabling the windows update service.

The average user does not have Enterprise now do they? especially not with the clever "free update" microsoft gave everyone.

There really isn't. Updates break stuff all the time, imagine you get the update and the restart happened at a time you were fine with, now you want to start working and all of a sudden you notice the pc not booting past the loading screen, or the PC removed some of you vital programs. Oh or another great one, Windows decided to become unstable AF and BSoD's every 5 minutes until you do a system restore. Hardware not taken into account etc. it's a crossplatform OS, There's bound to be bugs with such regular updates (well there have been a load) on certain hardware.

Just want to clarify that Windows has to update portions before they begin to boot up and that's why restarts have to occur. #CarryOn

I have it turned off because I don't want my computer shutting down all the time.
Why would the programs you claim to develop not work on my machine? Which APIs are you using that are not available on the version of Windows I am using?
Windows updates very, very rarely introduces changes to APIs which breaks backwards compatibility, or introduce new ones, so I don't see why it would matter.

As for performance problems, if the last year of Windows 10 updates is anything to go by then you're more likely to get performance issues by updating.

You can postpone the download and installation for like 2 months (in increments of 7 days), but once the update is installed (and needs to reboot to apply the updates) it will only give you like 24 hours to reboot, or it will forcefully do it.

Personally I'd get the 480 however if you really need to save then a 1050 Ti, do not get a regular 1050.

This and the fact that every time you update Cortana is back up and running, windows just stupidly removes programs it thinks is incompatible with the new build (eventhough lots of the programs removed work great after installing the damn same version again) Windows restarts after less than a day after an update is installed and for people running diagnostics overnight / weekends or doing major uploads on crappy 512 kbps upload speeds without an option to resume the update can get pretty pissed off pretty quick.

please do go on about how small companies have IT departments and how home businesses afford IT guys to do everything for them. Please don't be foolish, that's like saying if you drive a car it is inconceivable to not have your own personal driver. which is bullshit.

I am in South Africa, to give you an estimate after taxes and stuff a monitor is 80% more expensive than it is in the US. One of my friends can give those to me much more cheaper

Why should they? it's a small company, they just buy whatever is on sale because it is supposed to be that easy. win 10 complicated that. don't get me wrong, I recommend win 10 to everyone I know it's just that their update scheme is shit.

understood for the US, however third world countries really don't just pay $200 and $200 can do a load more here that it can in the US (non tech related stuff such as food, supplies etc.) and investing into the laptop and then having to invest even more right off the bat? that sounds a bit ludicrous and people who are not tech savvy will fail to comprehend that and that's where the problem lies. Microshit isn't focusing on the average consumer anymore, in fact they are relying on their stupidity to make their shares climb by showing off numbers such as these on this stupid topic.

I'm finished since this debate will go nowhere.

also just a side note: Captain chaos might be tech savvy enough to set up group policy, but what if the company doesn't have someone like that? Don't try and be smart. Windows is bullshiting a lot of people and barnacules nerdgasm who used to work for them feels the same way.

I've heard of SAMA before, it's never exploded on anyone that I know with one in their system (provided you don't try pushing 1300 watt out of an 850 watt unit.) It's like people bitching about Huntkey, just because it's uncommon in the US don't go crying rivers over everything unknown to you. however you should like with any brand stay away from certain models. That one I bet had a shitty capacitor and it went, so they had to solder on a new one, I do that a lot with PSU's since South Africa's power is so crap I get lots of clients bringing their PCs to me and I have to replace one or two caps.

Cryptonite got a reaction from ThatSoundGuy in 980ti SLI VS. new 1070
they are the same performance and you compared the 1070 to SLI, the 980 Ti isn't supposed to give you the crappy frames you are getting in a lot of games the 980 Ti still pulls ahead of the 1070.

what cooler are you using? check the CPU usage in games and monitor CPU temperature, something is most likely overheating in you system.
How much RAM do you have?
