7300 Zar for the 1070 vs the 1080 11 000+ Zar at the time that I bought it which is about a year and a half ago. No it's not a g-sync monitor. it's a Acer S277HK 4K IPS LED Monitor - 27" I got for free since the powerbank kept blowing a cap even if he bought a new one. I just use a powerbank with a little more max Ampage still from Acer though. Been using it for almost a year like this now, no issues at all.
  3. you were out by 1 fps on each. 39 and 33 vs your estimated 38 and 32
  4. Asus Strix GTX 1070 was the best buy of my build, seriously it's impressing me at 4k. it's trading blows with a guy here in town's EVGA 1080 FTW. his card can't Overclock since RSA is so hot that piece of toaster wops up to 80 degrees like nothing. As for my 1070 it's running around at low rpms with temps in the 60s to low 70s overclocked :D

Enjoying the performance, even 30+ fps seems very smooth on this screen though :o  atm watchdogs 2 is the game that eats at my card the most with max settings I only get 32-36 fps while the 1080 gets 31-38 fps... The longer I play the lower the frames drop on EVGA's stupid thermal solution though.

  5. save cash ~same performance go R5 1600
  6. if I had any reason to I'd already be rocking a Ryzen cpu and upgrade the cpu later on. However with my x99 mobo and xeon cpu I do not see myself upgrading very soon.
  7. wow, you should just blow your money however you want then. Fanboys are fanboys I really do not even want to consider helping you but against my better judgement I'll tell you to go for the 8700k. blow up your wallet.
  8. ok yes, for 80+ frames I'd agree but I'm more of a 50+ fps kinda guy.
  9. how so? 3440 x 1440 shouldn't pull much more than regular 1440p and my 1070 handles it quite well. he isn't going 4k or anything.
  10. trust me get the 1070 and never look back.
  11. all my overclocks have a combo between performance and stability. 4790k in my GF's dad's pc is running 4.5 GHz 24/7 no hiccups and my old 2500k is still rocking 4.8 GHz after all this time.
  12. the motherboard I am using to power this system had bent pins, it's so damn easy to bend LGA pins it's not even funny, especially for newcomers that aren't careful. big issues is also that they tend to drop the cpu in in such a way that the pins on the mobo get overlapped and one gets stuck to another, that's the reason I got my mobo for free. I just had to use a well lit room and a needle to fix it, but it wasn't easy since the pins tend to not return to their correct positions.
  13. you most likely do not have the intel HD driver installed hense only a 1024 x 768 max output.
  14. we're talking about games that will be out in the next 5 years aren't we? you should not be assume you'll be fine. It's a dual core 4 thread cpu, it is an entry level cpu any way you look at it.
  15. I'd also not get a g4560 and say it's a lot better than the 6350 since it will depend on what you do with it, and the g4560 will cause a bottleneck more than an i5 does, it's better to wait for Ryzen 5 to see if intel makes stuff a little cheaper.
  16. no it will not, but neither can you guarantee another card can.
  17. which games, what resolution? for 1080p and over 30 fps it will do just fine, for over 120 fps I'd upgrade. It'll be better than a console so long as he has a decent card in there.
  18. depends what he does with it, there are people satisfied with dual cores from socket 775 and some with their quad core counterparts, it really depends on him.

New PC built! Specs in profile.

I like my xeon, makes me unique >_<
  20. I run an internet cafe / pc repair shop / do server backups for certain companies once a month and a few other side projects. Nothing too interesting really, but it feeds and is enjoyable.

It is done... I ended up ordering my new build…

Great job not going for the Asus board, heard those have some issues Hope you like the build, do a review of what you think of it once you have it.
  22. Sitting with a Xeon E5 2630 v3 watching all the hastle about i7's and R7's and gaming results. To be honest I'd go for an R7 soon if any game actually had big issues with my 2.4 GHz cpu but  they really don't. Could be because I got my GPU clocked @ 2GHz core and +700 on the memory (that is with MSI afterburner) this being with Micron memory :D

tip for some though, Never go Asus in the beginning of any series, they always stagger behind the rest.

Both DDR3 sticks in this rig are labeled as sta…

they should be able to either way to be honest, I clock standard kingston and kingmax ram to 1600 MHz all the time so depending on the brand it should easily be capable of at least 1600
  24. next time will be loads easier, trust me, it gets easier the more you do it. that sounds a bit wrong though...
