J_Mad18 reacted to nicehat in AMD's Excavator: A Revolution?
Some revealing information gleaned from the people at X-bit labs indicate that the fourth generation Bulldozer core code-named Excavator will support 256-bit AVX2 floating point instructions, which means that a huge leap and change from the current gen which calls for two 128 bit floating point pipelines per module that get unified into a single 256-bit-wide unit.

Essentially, the entire architecture calls for a unified FPU process instead of a shared one. This means that the architecture will either have to be considerably upgraded, or redone from scratch. There is not much more information on Excavator yet, only that Steamroller will feature a highly improved frontend with two decoders per module.

"AMD recently released a patch to the GCC community that enables support for its future high-performance micro-architecture code-named Excavator, which the chip developer calls "bdver4" internally. The initial patch is designed to bring very general support of Excavator to Linux operating system, but even that general support may reveal some of the secrets the Excavator may have. Based on the information released by AMD, the Excavator will support all the instructions found in the modern Intel code-named Haswell microprocessors, including SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AES, PCLMUL, AVX, BMI, F16C, MOVBE, AVX2, BMI2, RDRND and so on.
    .
    .
Keeping in mind that by the time AMD’s Excavator begins to roll commercially, Intel will release its brand-new Skylake high-performance micro-architecture that will support 512-bit AVX instructions known as AVX3.2, upgrading FPU is simply a must."

Okay, so I have decided to reveal my true self.
When I joined this forum, I have out my age as 28 because I thought I would receive some hate for being young. That is not my true age. Instead, I am 14. If you have ever asked how old I was, I would've told you that I was 28. I am so sorry for lying to you, and I should've told you my real age. After a while, I've started to see some younger people on the forum (12-16 years old). Most of them seem really nice and mature. One I figured that out, I should've told you guys, but I was afraid you would get mad at me for being a douche and lying to you for all this time. So right now, I have decided to sincerely apologize to every single member on this forum that recognizes me.
I am 14, and I completely understand that I should've put my true age in the beginning. If I could start over, I would've. Please take my sincerest apology.

It's as if as soon as the "first" surfaces to the public, the next couple similar events happen in quick succession. Everybody knows that the Tesla Model S is one of the safest cars in the world at the moment, but that was soon called into question a few weeks earlier when a Model S struck a piece of debris in Washington State, USA, later bursting into flames. Tesla PR handled it pretty well and the subsequent investigation revealed all we needed to know. Now, a second confirmed Model S crash as surfaced, and again this one seems to be a result of driver error (suspected driving under the influence).

This crash took place in the Yucatan city of Merida. It is believed to have occurred on October 18, and the Mexican newspaper Progreso Hoy stated:

Bystanders shot a quick video capturing the burning wreck:

Tesla PR has their work cut out for them, but hopefully this doesn't stagnate the progression of electric vehicles too badly. A statement from Tesla PR:

If you want to read into an updated article on the first Tesla Model S crash in the states, a link is provided below. The US Government has stated that they will not investigate that specific incident any further, but it'd be pretty interesting to see how the Mexican Government handles the situation.

Better hardware is a really big deal when it comes to sound quality. Think of it in the same terms as kinda like a bottleneck. You can have the best source in the world with finely tuned EQ but if your amp sucks balls it won't sound as good as it can

J_Mad18 reacted to M-ursu in GTA V For PC In Fall 2013 – Could Be Optimized For GeForce Cards
In an earnings call conference to the press, NVIDIA claimed that Rockstar’s flagship title for 2013 “GTA V” would be heading to PC users in Fall of 2013. Now this could be big news since till now we have got no official words of the game heading to PC anytime soon except some pre-order listings that hold no truth. GTA V   NVIDIA Hints at GTA V For PC In Fall 2013 The word comes from NVIDIA in their earnings call (transcript of which is provided by Seeking Alpha) in which the company mentions that PC Gaming and GPU market did well for them unlike the Tegra mobile market which took some hits. NVIDIA has mentioned that both PC and Android market due to their open nature are going to outcast the console market by 2015 where PC games revenue alone is going to amount for $20 Billion where as the total for both Playstation 3 and PlayStation 4 would be around $10 Billion and half of that for the Xbox. NVIDIA, when talking about the PC gaming scene mentions that PC gamers are getting ready for some of the block buster titles arriving this fall which include Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts and GTA V. NVIDIA specifically mentions GTA V for the PC here since they are talking about PC gaming market. The most surprising thing is that it isn’t Rockstar themselves but NVIDIA who’s hinting at GTA V for PC this fall. This could possibly mean the alliance of Rockstar with NVIDIA as their hardware partner or something bigger. We all know how AMD has got probably the most FPS title under their Gaming Evolved Program, Battlefield 4. Could GTA V be NVIDIA’s answer to AMD’s Gaming Evolved Program and a revival of TWIMTBP? The PC market is evolving. As entry level laptops face pressure from tablets. Yet sales of specialty PCs like gaming systems and work stations continue to grow. The disparity reflects how consumers use these different classes of PCs. Many consumers look for PC as a general purpose device they can use for browsing, email, social media video. But much of this can be better served by a tablet. In contrast, gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises, such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto V and Assassin’s Creed IV. Advertisements      You do remember when Rockstar was hiring developers who can work on PC Ports for their latest games. Maybe NVIDIA offered them a partnership to optimize the coding for GTA V for PC hardware or even exclusively for their GeForce graphic cards. Do note that Frostbite 3 based titles are also getting exclusive optimized for AMD Radeon cards. GTA V falls in the line with Battlefield 4 with the most anticipated titles of 2013, if AMD and NVIDIA could get these titles out with optimizations for PC gamers than this could definitely mean a big win for the PC users. NVIDIA Game Technology Leadership   In addition to GTA V, NVIDIA is also optimizing and adding additional PC exclusive features in upcoming titles such as Watch Dogs, Batman: Arkham Origins, Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the upcoming Splinter Cell: Black List. But on top of all that, GTA V for the PC this falls sounds like the best news PC gamers can hear right now, GTA V officially launches for consoles in September 2013. Source:http://wccftech.com/nvidia-hints-gta-v-pc-fall-2013-optimized-geforce-cards/ What do you guys think?

Just make sure you plug the USB cable to a port with enough power to handle back-lighting.
If the problem still present, do a RMA for the keyboard.

OK! So i havnt updated this for like 2 months. Its been incredibly slow progress in my spare time but this will be a reasonably large update. Iv nearly finished the desk construction & painting. I hope to order hardware sometime soon.

So i found a slab of laminated pine for the top. Couldnt be bothered joining and finishing planks to make my own. I was at TAFE that day so I cut it to size while i was there. 2010x670

Was finally able to pick up my glass too.

Bought a Slotting router bit to make the rebate for my front glass to sit into. It was 4mm while the glass 6mm so i had to make 2 passes.

    Very happy with front window

This is how i work once the sun goes down

Chamfered around the edges of the drawer faces with the router, used a dremel & sander to chamfer around the front glass because the slot interfered with using the router.
I did hand sand this smoother, just diddnt get a better pic

Made the work space that slides out on the left but gluing 2 pieces of MDF together to make the right thisckness, chamfered the edges as well.

Started working on the slide out workspace. Im finishing it the same as the top with the crackle finish & glass coat so this will work as a practice piece.
Primed it the taped off what i diddnt want green

    Made it green

    Under UV light! SWEET!

Taped off the chamfers & applied the crackle coat

Painted it black with the spray gun.
    Imediately afer sprayed

10min later, finished reacting. Not the exact pattern i wanted, will have to spray it thicker. Will use the otherside as another practice & will hopefully turn out better.

Trying it again on the second side. Chamfered the edges, touched up primer, re-taped, greened & crackled the same as the first side. Will spray the black thicker this time.

    Imediately after spraying

    After 10min

After 20min, Finished! Need only remove tape & black the remaining edge

    GLORY SHOTS!!!

I Now practiced using the Glass coat. Tried on the bad side first and experimented on how it would act on the chamfers by making it differently.

Once you begin mixing the 2 part glass coat you have around 20min to finish pouring & working it. It must be used on a level work space because it self levels and finished a few mm thick and as hard as glass! Touch dry in 12hours & fully cured in 7days.

The bad side Glasses Heaps shiney

Then the Good side Glassed. Turned out MAAAAAAAAAD!

So ill add another update soon. Most of the construction & painting is finished now, Will just make another post to fill up to where im up too because this one seems to be very long!

Both dump files have the same cause, but neither of them are the same as the photo you took... All the errors are IRQL errors related to the windows kernel, which is the base of the OS. Could you do a RAM test using memtest86+ because it sounds like there's (at least) one byte (or even bit) on your RAM which is not functioning correctly.
