3hrs and no replies.... is this thing still on?

I'm quite happy for AMD. Was very excite when they launched Ryzen for the competitive performance but was a little disappointed when they fell slightly short on the graphics end.

Nothing I experienced myself, I'm sure VEGA holds up just fine for the average gamer. But in all I cant wait to see what the future holds for AMD with this acquisition! I cant really comment on the law suit tho, I didn't follow that. shame on me

Probably the only reason why I'm posting is because its a first for being first. However I don't have a clever inb4 saying..... wish I was a clever fellow

ZackBarletto got a reaction from Princess Luna in Why do professors and lecturers still say 1MB = 1024KB?
I thought the K,M,B were the powers of 10, and the differences came from whether you were referring to bits or Bytes.
I didn't know about the MiB and KiB until just now...

This website explain what I always thought, but i now see what aluminum tech was saying in other various articles.
    Link: https://kb.iu.edu/d/ackw
" A kilobyte (KB) is 1,024 bytes, not one thousand bytes as might be expected, because computers use binary (base two) math, instead of a decimal (base ten) system. " They acknowledge the base 10 system, but then say oh but because computers use base 2, we use 1024, etc...

I do see both sides in various articles, but it seems to come down to what @Princess Cadence said. Convenience? for me it was very convenient..... But wrong

In the end would it technically matter? I know the facts are the facts and all, but i thought it was confusing enough converting back and fourth between bits and bytes depending on what you were dealing with. Let alone that all of this was a lie and now I see what a Mib and Kib is... I thought i was just fine until now

I know this is not accurate as this is what this post is about, i'm just showing you what websites are claiming if the average person were to look this up..

The other thing with multiplayer games is that servers aren't kept running for long after a newer game has come out, so planned obsolescence has a great impact on games too.

I pirate games to try them (demo them, if you like,). If I enjoy a few hours of the game, I buy it. I have spent way too much money on games I hated after 30 mins.

Which is why $10,000 mattresses exist
Seriously though, I wouldn't mind spending $80 for a game if it meant that everything was included with no additional costs ever.

I think it depends on the game. I'm in and out of GTA V for maybe a few hours at a time over a month.....

HOWEVER, I'm on my *countless* Skyrim profile on countless hours.. What year did that come out again? Oh and i bought it for PS3 first. Then Bought it for PC..... Even starting the clock at reaching the grey beards *first hour or so* I still play she shit out of this game probably more than any other game besides LoL (league of legends).

I literally "WASTED" *pun intended* $60 or however much it was on GTA V based off my playing time. Your welcome rockstar

But yet getting my moneys worth 10 fold on Skyrim.... EVEN when I bought it twice and not including the same first hour of gameplay... lol
The second purchase for PC was on steam sale but i was getting it anyways.....

Its the quality of the game and how much ones likes to play that style or type of game that makes it worth it. Its partially up to the devs to fit that certain style that gravitates their fans to that game. Bethesda kinda did that to me. I don't care what game trailer it is, if i see "Bethesda" in it, I try to look into it to see what its all about because i might like it. I also own Fallout3 for PS3 and PC and fallout 4 for PC and can always go back to those games and get another 8-10 hours in easy.

Or just basic color correction or filters or whatever bypass this as well so eh... Sounds useless and stupid.

That's funny  That's why I'm buying AAA titles when they are like $5-10 and only if it had good reviews.

DRM doesn't stop piracy... It's like a challenge for people making cracks. They probably enjoy it -.-"

Just do what CDPR did with The Witcher 3... Don't block it at all. It's a waste of money and The Witcher 3 is doing great.

And before someone will say "$5 is not helping out developers". LOL, earn my money... Lately AAA title releases are a disaster. Half baked games, basically selling a demo and then asking to buy DLC's. What a joke.

So who gets to decide what is a reliable resource? As we have seen in some of the US presidential elections, or any other hot button topic that shows up. (ik this is Canada based forums, but for the sake of example)

One "news source" says one thing. Flip the channel and its another "news Source" spewing the complete opposite information. If anyone watches one network, the other would technically be completely lying and "unreliable"?? What do we do about this situation? This is almost the same but between "reputable sources" instead of people trying to take into account what they thought they saw and letting the marketplace of ideas sort through the "conspiracies" like we have been doing for ever now.

When in all reality, it was 3rd party outside news sources that were more in line with each other than these "Prime Time News Networks" bickering and trying to paint everyone else and each other as fake or not reliable?

So now which "reliable source" are we going with? It seems here that what is "reliable" will once again be decided for us just like the ones that made it to "TV". How long will it take before there is another issue where no one agrees and were back to the same bullshit and we find an alternative, Just like we did with TV News...

Just an excuse for more censorship? I wonder if this will effect how YouTube has been able to spread the word of the people and how we fell, and if they can stand separate from the TV news networks. Mainstream news is so close to being dead if it is not already, I just hope YouTube just didn't sign themselves up to go down with them if they cant decide on what is reliable and what is not.

I'm not trying to say they will censor "everything", but when does it stop? and where do we draw the line? Once it starts how hard will it be to stop it, if at all? You tube can do whatever they want to as a company, and it will be up to the people to change where we watch our videos if this does get out of hand... Im Just skeptical and just though of YouTube as a way to branch away from TV as a whole weather that be education, entertainment, news, music, anything....

Microsoft seems to have lost its mind of late , they are trying to sell X number of different builds of Windows 10, they are increasing the market fragmentation which they were trying to combat with thier forced update system and leading to more issues for everyone.

ZackBarletto reacted to NowThatsDamp in Nvidia CEO - Moore's Law is dead; GPUs to replace CPUs
GPU's cannot replace CPU's as they stand today. Just about every application is coded to run efficiently in series and on X86, and well as Windows, Mac and Linux.
Now, there is the argument to be made that the computational capacity of GPU's is many times that of even the most powerful CPU's, and growing at a far faster pace.
In order for there to be a world in which GPU's push out CPU's, it wouldn't just require an entirely new OS, programming language and hardware platform... It would require a complete transformation of computer code theory from machine language all the way up. The very way we think about programming would have to be erased and rewritten.
