so i had a thought recently while testing my friends mobile vr. Can I use my phone as a desktop vr headset emulating the oculus? I did research and yes. It is possible. Vridge allows you to do this. the next thing i though about was getting some controllers so i can use it like an actual full set up. I was looking for htc vive emulation but that was expensive, but i looked at the oculus touch controllers and the little recievers, and that was only $160. 220 if i need two of the recievers. adn about 40-100 for a mobile vr head set. sonow i have thought of a wayfor you to have a desktop vr setup that can easily emulate the oculus rift and be used for oculus grade games for only $200-$260. i have just a question. Can I use the touch control seperately from teh headset? with out the head set can the touch track my position? (not where im looking, just xy position? the phone handles the 360 view) Tell me guys if you know anything the price is provided you have a vr ready pc and a phone btw

I am currently working on making a little studio for my rig, and i am trying tho get an audio interface, and the one that seems to peak my interest is focursite's Clarett8PreX. Unfortunately This audio interface is thunderbolt only, and most mobo's obviously don't come with thunderbolt ports. I have read around and found that apparently, not all thunderbolt pcie cards work with all mobos and vice, versa. So i was curious if there was an expander that worked with the GA-Z87-D3HP. I also have a MSI Z97 PC MATE, however I'm not a big fan of it, I prefer the z87, but if anyone knows of a thunderbolt pcie card that would work with any of those mobo's feel free to tell me! i know that it has the light-pipe/adat ports on the back of it, can i take advantage of that at all? -new build, my question is. if i get an amd card and get an amd cpu of an intel equivalent ( to price) will the card work better because of some syncing or optimization? thanks for any answeres

well the quadro m4000 has 8gb of vram while the 980ti is usualy at about 6 gigs... so i think the quadro m4000 is a little better just all around for this kind of use

alright i thinking the 5820k with a nividia quadro m4000? is that good? or should i go with a different quadro (need to be less than or just about $1000 thanks for all your help

of after some more info i decided to go with a 980 ti opening my budget to about $900, ill look into the 5820k, also i wont be over clocking, or she wont i dont think

ok so here's the deal, i was asked to build a pc that is for rendering 3d models for my friend as she is an architect. she has a budget including the monitor. i have most of that picked out but im not sure on the cpu/gpu. im not to familiar with the intel xeons as most of my build have used skylake or 15 4690k's so should i get a xeon? if so, id want that cpu under $400, but is a xeon under 400 good? would i be better off going with skylake? im also not familiar with the nivida quadro series as i usualy just do gaming builds, now ive heard for gaming they are a** but what about for rendering 3d? the program she is useing to render is lumion or something... is about 4,000 apparently. im wondering for about $1,300 for rendering lumion, would i be better off with a qudro of similar of a titan x or 980 ti price or something that would be able to render this at 1440p with not much issues? also about that graphics card, should i post this in gpu threads? as i don't want to spam.

when ever i seach for someone on steam that has a two part name it always searches for either the first or last, and i have to go through thousands of pages to try and find it, is there a way to make steam search for that exact name? EXACTLY? i dont want a bunch of "general related key words"

also another question, i might have the chance of getting some 1080p monitors (3 of them) from a friend for about$70 but they have a 7ms response time, is a 7 ms response time noticeable

so if i was to buy 2 dvi to hdmi converters, and connected them all to the same 3 monitors (Acer G247HYL) i would be fine?
