  1. honestly didnt even look at any of them yet. im just playing around for now trying to build the cheapest system that will allow me to have a fast trading computer with 4 screens
  2. Thanks for answering but can you give me some more info. what i wanted to know was how to calculate what power supply i need for any build. If pcpartpicker tells me I need 500 watts will a 500 watt power supply be enough ? If its not how do i know how big of a PSU i will need depending on the total wattage pcpartpicker gives me? I dont want to waste money on a bigger power supply and on my electric bill if i dont need to. from a youtube video I watched i was told if your system needs 500 watts you should get 1.2 times that which is 600 watts. is this a correct approach ? please advise , appreciate any help !
  3. i built this on pc part picker. it says 469 watts . what size PSU do i need though , ive watched some videos on it but I keep getting different info everywhere. some say you need 1.2 to 1.25x the wattage pcpartpicker spits out and some say about 1.5x . so how much do i need ? and is there a formula i can follow in case i build something else ? 4. thanks feel better knowing its not that big of a deal. but is there no option that automatically searches and notifies me of new updates at least ?
  5. thanks for reply but im hoping to have it done automatically like how my dell laptop tells me when i need update drivers and then it does all the updates at once. i want to know if its possible to do all of them automatically like this or similarly so i dont need to check ever so often and do it myself manually from websites . regular computers bought from dell have updates every 2 3 months in my experience. i wanted to make sure this same task can be handled automatically when i build my own pc
  6. So im thinking building my first desktop and to my knowledge the only perks of buying a prebuilt one from a company like dell is the support if anything goes wrong you can just go straight to dell and maybe a lower price? In my experience the company i buy from usually has a program that updates all drivers for me automatically and right away.. Is there anyway to automatically get updates for all drivers on a custom built desktop ? and i mean ALL drivers, from usb controller to bios flash etc . I dont want to have to worry about that if im building a pc . I appreciate any info on this .
  7. ok i figured it out after alot of googling. i dont think you guys got my question. 1) there are 2.5 inch drives that connect via sata. 2)m.2 solutions that can connect via an m.2 connector or an adapter that plugs into a pcie slot . 3) 2.5 inch drives that connect to an m.2 connector via a cable 4) last , an add in card which connects via a PCIe slot .... ( not the same as number 2 ) ended up answering this one myself ....
  8. im even more confused now .... let me simplify my questions. how many FORM FACTORS for SSDs are there . is it m.2 , 2.5, and pcie or just m.2 and pcie
  9. m.2 drives scan use a pcie slot then ? or only an m.2 slot
  10. how many physical standards are their really ? 2 or 3 ? is it m.2 (including m.2 + pcie adapter) and 2.5 inch style drives . OR is it 2.5 inch style drives, m.2 (including m.2 with a pcie adapter) , and pcie ssd ?
  11. Ok im still a little confused after watching linus videos on SSDs. too many standards to keep track of. They have the 2.5 inch drives that connect with SATA, ok i got that. Dont care about the other standards since they dont exists really or wont last except the next 2 which M.2 and the PCIe ones ( not sure about this PCIe one until someone answers me) Intel has the 2.5 inch drives that use SATA , then M.2 drives which use an M.2 connector on the board or if your board doesnt have one you can get a card that goes in a PCIe slot that will take ur M.2 card . then theres the PCIe card looking drives on their card. Is the PCIe card an actual SSD or is it just an adapter type thing for M.2 meaning the only 2 types of SSDs i need to worry about are the 2.5 and M.2 ones . or is it 3 meaning 2.5 , M.2 , and one that goes into a PCIe slot being a drive only and not an adapter for an m.2 like in Linus' videos
  12. Hi i just replaced the thermal paste on my cpu in my laptop an HP pavillion g7 laptop. 17 inch screen. My laptop keeps overheating for no reason. the inside is clean and dust free. Fan is spinning fine just too loud. Im running real temp and my cpu is running in the 70s on idle. When i unscrewed the spring loaded screwed from the heatsink one of them came out. Not sure if that has something to do with it. I just put that one screw back and screwed back all 4 to regular tightness. Im almost out of thermal paste. Any suggestions ? I did everything right and cant figure out the problem . Paste was applied properly and the right amount. Even though the screw came out all of them were screwed in again properly and heatsink was mounted fine. laptop is clean and fan is fine .
  13. what about before windows ? like for changing bios settings ? when i first learned about computers i think that was the issue before installing drivers. we needed a ps/2 connected keyboard to set up the pc before we installed windows. thats the part im worried about . what if something goes wrong and i need to press and f button to initiate the windows installation . ive had to do that before and the USB keyboards werent working. thank god i had a ps2 on the mobo but what if i dont ?
