  1. 7/10 nice exposure, not the best angle for car light trails though in my opinion but still nice! by Jordan Cormack, on Flickr
  2. I currently shoot with a Canon 6D and 50mm f/1.4. If I want something wider or tighter I bring out either my 28mm f/2.8 or 135mm f/2.8 but both of these are old manual film lenses that I picked up for about £10, it's about a 50/50 split on usage between the two. I am looking on getting a new lens and I am torn between the 17-40mm f/4 and the 70-200mm f/4 since they are around the same price used at the store closest to me. I was wondering if anyone has any good or bad experience with either lens or a suggestion on what to go for. For informational purposes, this is what I have been shooting recently, maybe someone will spot I need one more than the other http://www.flickr.com/jordancormack Thanks!
  3. 7/10 I like the composition and the choice of black and white with lots of contrast, but I think the depth of field is a little too shallow. Here's one I took in the NHM in London yesterday. Untitled by Jordan Cormack, on Flickr
  4. The best way to get good pictures from the kit lens is to go out and take pictures, nothing will improve your photography more than practice. Old manual lenses are also a great way to learn the fundamentals of aperture, shutter speed and ISO to speed up that learning curve. As you say shooting RAW is a great choice as you can just worry about getting the shot and worry about the final exposure later.
  5. 6/10, great idea and I think it has the possibility to be a really cool image! It doesn't look like it's quite in focus and more emphasis on the Corsair logo would have made it a bit better for me, along with some more LEDs round the rest of the case IMG_5191-2 by Jordan Cormack, on Flickr
  6. Yeah unfortunately no matter how you share your images online, people can still steal them, edit them and make money. The only good thing to come from it is knowing that the people who do steal you images obviously can't produce anything nearly as nice! As said before it's easy to edit the image in that way if you know your way around photoshop, this took me 10 minutes whilst eating dinner: Keep up the great photography!
  7. I would look at getting a lens outside the zoom range you gave, maybe a 24mm or 35mm? There are some nice prime lenses out there with low aperture
  8. 7/10 cool stickers and I like the focus/depth, the only thing I don't like as much is how 'contrasty' it is but that's just a personal thing! Here's my Moto 360 Untitled by Jordan Cormack, on Flickr
  9. I didn't have time to sort out the edges and make it look more 'realistic'. When I get back to uni next week I'll finish it off and post a wireframe!
  10. Got bored this evening so decided to do a quick model of an old lens, I don't really like the lighting and it's not perfect but hey!
  11. 30 second exposure, f/16, ISO 100 with a Canon 600D & kit lens @ 18mm Also used the cheapest tripod and shutter release I could find on Amazon. For inspiration, just take your camera out and shoot by Jordan Cormack, on Flickr
  12. I have a bunch of M42 lenses that I use on my 600D and I love them all! Helios 44m-4 58mm f/2 Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f/2.8 Praktica Zoom Auto 80-200mm f/5.6 If you can find a cheap 50mm with a wide aperture it can be a good alternative to the cheaper new plastic stuff
  13. 8/10 I like the feel of it and it's a good angle. Only things that bother me are the person on the left and some of the highlights are a bit blown out (track especially). Looks like a cool place though! by Jordan Cormack, on Flickr
  14. I currently use a Canon 600D with the 18-55mm Kit Lens and the following old film lenses: Helios 44m-4 58mm f/2 (Beastly lens) Carl Zeiss 50mm f/2.8 Praktica Zoom Auto 80-200mm f/5.6 Sigma ZoomMaster 35-70mm f/2.8-4 With focus conformation adapters, you can get some really good quality M42 lenses for <£5 on eBay! I also have these: Nikon 1 J2 Nikon F-301 Praktica PL Nova Ricoh 500GX GoPro Hero 2 Various old Polaroids http://www.flickr.com/jordancormack
  15. First attempt at modelling a phone, once I get some icons on the buttons and lighten up the aluminium it shouldn't look too bad!
