  1. Upgrading a friend’s rig from i5-7500 to i7-7700K. Looked around online but the listings are all overpriced. I wonder if anyone has an i7-7700K for sale. It’d be preferable if the seller lives in CA, if not at least US. The price I’m looking for is around $150, but definitely negotiable. Thank you!
  2. Exactly as the topic described. Trying to switch from Windows to Manjaro on my old laptop. I wonder if I can directly burn the iso file into a new SSD, swap the drive, and boot off of it without going through settings in bios. Just being a little lazy here. ?
  3. Where did all those old stuff went? Anyone have any idea as to whether they'll ever be coming back? I really missed the keycaps with Linus's troll face on it lol. Wonder if any one of you guys are willing to sell me one at a reasonable price if possible?
  4. I wonder what’s the difference between migrating the whole drive over to the SSD using a software and directly transfer everything from the hard drive to the SSD through a computer? Will the latter one work? If no, is there any windows migration tool that you guys recommend?
  5. Anyone shopped online at Micro Center before? I ordered a part from them today but didn't receive any confirmation email nor any texts saying the order is completed. I wonder if it's normal? ?
  6. Why it’s a possible limitation? I only have 1 SSD, and not many people need 4 hard drives at all. Like, there are hard drives that have a storage up to multiple terabytes. It’s not really a limitation is it?
  7. Basically that’s the requirement. Although I did came up with some of my own thoughts, I’m not too confident that my choice is really the best budget efficient plan. Also I have some questions about the hardware I choose. So please give me some suggestions and answers. Thanks a lot! CPU: Ryzen 5 2600X $219.99 / Ryzen 7 1800X $239.99 (I heard that softwares like Adobe Premiere Pro are more reliant on multi-core performance, and gaming is my second priority, so I chose AMD. Is that the right choice, if yes, which CPU is better for this job?) Graphics Card: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 DIrectX 12 6GB $289.99 Motherboard: GIGABYTE AB350M-DS3H AM4 AMD B350 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard $64.99 (How is the upgradability of this board?) RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8 GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) $184.99 (Any cheaper ones?) Power Supply: CORSAIR CX Series CX550 550W ATX 12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply $49.99 Hard Drive: Already got my own SSD from my previous laptop. $0 Display: LG 22M38D-B 22’’ Class Full HD 1080 LED Monitor 75HZ 5ms Reader Mode 4 Screen Split $79.99 Case: Thermaltake CA-1B2-00M1NM-00 Black Mid Tower Computer Case $34.21 Keyboard & Mouse: MasterKeys Lite L Combo RGB Keyboard and Mouse $44.99 OS: Win 10 OEM $99.99 Total: 1069.13, 1054.13 w/ promo codes What do you guys think?
  8. DIrect quote from my mom: “Back in my days when I was trying to build my first computer, I encountered this incompatibility problem.” So... could it be a problem back in the days and had been solved now?
  9. So basically I’m trying to build my own pc for both video editing and gaming, and I don’t have enough budget right now, but I need one for my recent video project (my last laptop is dead because of water damage), so I turned to my mom and wonder if she could lend me some money. She refused. However, after a while of discussion, it turns out that she believes there is some mysrerious “hardware incompatibility” problem out there that could make the computer unable to boot at all, while some prebuilt desktops could somehow “overcome” this mysterious “hardware incompatibility”, which I never heard of, and never believed in. Since if that was the case, why were people building pc themselves? Why didn’t anyone mention it in Scrapyard War when they’re planning for their pc? So.... I’m hoping you guys can give me an answer about whether this mysterious “hardware incompatibility” really exists, if it does, how can I avoid it, and hopefully these answer can somewhat convince my mom... Thank you.
  10. A gaming laptop with 1TB SSD plus GTX 1060??!! Definitely Razer! Give it a try! Thanks for the giveaway!
  11. Thanks, it didn't pick up anything. So I guess my computer is safe.
  12. When I was downloading a video from a site, it leads me to another website which pops up a window that can only be close it if I click "yes". I did it anyway, and I scanned my computer immediately with security software, it didn't detect any virus or malware. But today, I saw a video on Linus's channel saying that it might spy on my web activities. So I'm super worried about my computer. Should I reset it in case there is some kind of virus or malware on my computer that can't be detected by the security software? Thank you!
