  1. Are the two games in question installed on your 980 Pro? This smells like a possible drive failure. 980 Pro SSDs that are 2TB or above are prone to failure if the drive came with specific firmware. https://www.pcgamer.com/an-error-in-samsungs-980-pro-firmware-is-causing-ssds-to-die-id-check-your-drive-right-now-tbh/ Try grabbing Samsung Magician from https://semiconductor.samsung.com/us/consumer-storage/support/tools/ and checking: Your drive health. If there is a firmware update available.
  2. In Boot > CSM (Compatibility Support Module): Set "Launch CSM" to "Disabled" In Boot > Secure Boot: Set "OS Type" to "Windows UEFI Mode"
  3. I can give you specific instructions if you give me your motherboard model, I'm going off the motherboard listed in your profile.
  4. In the Boot tab of your BIOS: Set CSM to "Disabled" Set Boot Devices Control to "UEFI only" Afterwards, reinstall Windows. You're running into a limitation of an MBR formatted drive, which are created by using non-UEFI installation media.
  5. With very little context, I would guess you're probably behind a double NAT. Do you have an ISP modem and a separate router you use for Wi-Fi? If you do, you will need to put your ISP modem in bridge mode and connect your server directly to your Wi-Fi router.
  6. You probably deleted sources.list.d and lists instead of just the contents. Recreate it with: sudo mkdir /etc/apt/sources.list.d sudo mkdir /var/lib/apt/lists sudo apt-get update
  7. The only thing I can come up with is that you might have bad sectors on your boot drive. Otherwise, you might be past the point of no return with this Windows install, as it seems that you have tried nearly all of the standard Windows Update troubleshooting steps.
  8. If it's happening every time, make sure you have TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled in your BIOS. Windows Update will either fail or not display any updates if you do not meet those requirements.
  9. Try updating using Windows 11 Installation Assistant: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2171764
  10. I would look into a WYSIWYG Markdown editor. There are math-specific editors like Mathcha Notebook, along with general use editors like Obsidian that uses MathJax. Obsidian has the added benefit of having a plethora of plugins to make it work exactly how you want.
  11. As long as you enable all of the available security features, Windows Defender is pretty rock-solid. Paired with Edge and Defender SmartScreen, it rivals most consumer-grade antivirus solutions.
  12. This is an acceptable power supply. While you don't have any headroom for future upgrades, the components you picked will not exceed 700w. The extra cable that PC Part Picker is referring to is a 4-pin ATX power connector, which is entirely optional for the TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS. The intention of this connector is to provide more headroom for overclocking. The Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 750 W 80+ Gold has 4 6+2 pin PCIe connectors according to the manual.
  13. No, you should always buy a reputable power supply if you value your components. What is your current power supply? The 3080 is the sweet spot for 1440p, it's not overkill. Are you paying above MSRP? You can get used 3080s well below MSRP on eBay or your local classifieds.
  14. Sounds to me like these sites are sending NordVPN IP addresses to a blackhole. Are you using iCloud Private Relay? If you are, try disabling it to see if you experience the same issue as your PC.
  15. That's an interesting thought... Unfortunately, I have no experience with this configuration, I am not sure that it is supported. Looking around online I couldn't find anyone else trying this. The AVR-S970H only has digital audio inputs, no outputs.
