If it happens for a long time after it's unplugged my guess would be just thermal expansion, it's not uncommon for that to happen but if you find it annoying yo can try contacting Asus to see what they can do.

If you got the money I'd wait a bit, Asus just announced a new model; 4k 27" and 144Hz at Computex. Model name is not yet know, neither is price. But if you have to choose between these three, I'd go for the Asus, The 40" is a tv I believe and not a monitor and will be too big to function as a monitor (I used to have a 32").

    Cheers

Metal on metal and/or PCB is not good. If just the plastic casing is touching you're fine.

The plugs are encased in plastic, so they should be fine.

Pulling the plug if you've already shut down the system won't hurt the PC at all.

Yes, the mounting sockets are the same for the 115x boards.
Noctua has good Customer Service if there is an issue.

    And it is spring tensioned.

If you rotate it there should be no problem.  Tilting it enough to lift the plate could introduce air bubbles, which might reduce heat transfer and so could raise temps.

But if you are not actually having any issues then just leave it alone.

it's a good idea, if you ask me. the NH-D14 is one hell of a good cooler.
