  1. Okay so I tried what you said and connected everything directly to the mobo and the rad fan shows up on my bios BUT my cpu temp is still pretty high. It starts at about 50c and then continues to rise. Also I don't really hear anything going on from my pump so I'm thinking it just may have died.
  2. Hey, so after about a week of not using my computer, i powered it on to a strange surprise today; CPU Fan Error. I was seriously confused because i saw all my fans are spinning fine. So i went into bios and checked it out and i saw that none of my fans were recognized. Also, my CPU was running at about 50c, when normally i get about 30~32. I really don't know what to make of this My specs are : MB: z87 Sabertooth CPU: i7 4770k Cooler: H220 w/ stock fans PSU: corsair ax760 2 x Silverstone AP140 1 x Silverstone AP120 I'm not exactly sure on how to check if its the pump thats the problem or not. Right now I have all my fans connected to the H220 PWM splitter included. Thank you in advance for your help everyone!
  3. Well after trying out a bit more stuff, I'm not sure what to say. Both my PC and Xbox work fine on this monitor, running at 1080p. But neither my PS3 nor my PS4 will work at 1080p. I'm really stumped
  4. Agggh this is really frustrating. I've spent a whole afternoon of gaming trying to figure this out! I'm wondering if the HDCP on the PS3 is what's causing the problem, but I really doubt it since it was working fine just a week ago.
  5. So up until this weekend, I've had my PS3 hooked to my Asus PB238Q monitor for the past couple weeks and it has worked fine, no problems what so ever. I even had my PS4 hooked up to it before that. Then last night, I turned on my PS3, switched my monitor's input to HDMI and what I see are a few flashes of white noise and then a black screen. I knew the monitor recognized the system because it never switched to the "No HDMI input detected" screen. So i tried a video reset on the PS3, and started it up again. It detected the HDMI connection and i hit yes so that it would automatically optimize the settings. And again, black screen. After repeating this a few times, and messing with display settings, I found that the monitor would only display in 480p. 720p and 1080i would display but with pixels flickering all around, as if it were dying. And 1080p just won't display at all. So i decided to do process of elimination to figure out where the problem lies and here is what happened: 1. I disconnected the HDMI cable from the system and tried it on my PC, disconnecting the DVI cable as well. Worked perfectly fine, no distortions, no flickering pixels, nothing. 2. I next tried connecting the PS3 to my monitor with a different HDMI cable and the same issue occurs. 3. I moved the PS3 to my room and tried it out on my TV with both the original and second HDMI cables. System worked fine, set up to display in 1080p and there was nothing wrong with the image. So now I'm at a loss, maybe my monitor and my system had a fight and now refuse to work together? I was thinking of buying a switch box and trying out my luck with that. And one more thing to note: A couple of days ago, I just came home from school and I tried powering on my monitor but it would not respond. I ended up disconnecting the power cord and reconnecting it just to get it to work. My PS3 was connected at the time. I don't know what happened during the day but I think the outlet might have lost power since my brother did say that our Fios router wouldn't turn on too and it is connected to the same outlet as my monitor and system. Anyways, does anyone have any ideas or should I start hitting up customer service?
  6. Wow, looks like IPS is pretty much unanimous haha. I haven't heard of PLS before but I'll definitely look into it. As for Korean monitors, I'm just worried about getting a defective unit and having to deal with that. With my luck, thats pretty much how it'll turn out for me
  7. Hello all! I'm currently trying to pick out a monitor for myself. I was going to go for the VG248QE by Asus, but then I realized 2 things: 1. I don't play FPS much so I'm not sure how beneficial the 144 hz refresh rate would be for me. 2. I'm also getting a PS4 and the dilemma I'm facing with that is that I have no room for it in my entertainment center, making it a real bother to move things around for it. So I thought of the idea of getting a nice IPS panel monitor and using that to double up for both my pc and future PS4 in my computer room. What do you guys think? Is this a smart choice or would i be better off making room and keeping the VG248QE? Thanks in advance!
  8. Hey all! My first post here on the site despite the fact I've been a member for at least a month now. Anyways, I've come to you for some input on my first, very own build. I have helped out friends plan and put together their own rigs before and now I figured to do one for myself. I'll be going by what the recommendations thread suggests just to make this easier. So after taking quite a bit of time, this is what i have. 1. Budget & Location I have a limit of $2500 US but I'm trying to see if I can get away doing this for as little as possible. 2. Aim So my goal for this rig is to have it double up as both a gaming station and workstation. When I say workstation I mean 3d work in programs like AutoCAD, Maya, and Cinema 4d. And for games I play a whole range of genres, from heavy games like Far Cry 3 or The Witcher to light work pixelated RPG's. 3. Monitors Only going with one decent sized monitor. Part of me would like to say I may add in multiple monitors in the future but that still isn't definitive so I won't treat it as a big factor. 4. Peripherals Yes, i will be purchasing a set of keyboard and mouse, in addition to mousepad and aftermarket fans. I'll also be getting me a copy of Windows as well but I haven't given much thought as to which. 5. Why are you upgrading? Well currently I'm using a mid-2011 Imac 27". Not only is it mediocre for running games, it's also been a chore to get some of my programs running for school and work. I've had to install a couple of programs in my bootcamp partition of Windows 7 and it's really gotten tiring switching back and forth. With all that said, I haven't come here without first doing my own bit of planning. So here is what I've come up with on my own: CPU: Intel i7 4770k Cooling: Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme (I actually just recently noticed a 3.0 version but wasn't sure if it was any better performance wise) MOBO: Asus Z87 Pro PSU: Corsair AX 760i RAM: 2 x 8gb Corsair Vengeance Pro Storage: Samsung 840 series 250 gb & WD Green 2 tb GPU: Either a 770 or a 760 OC Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Monitor: Asus BS239H-P Mouse: Deathadder 2013 Keyboard: Corsair K70 I know that the power supply is kind've excessive but the thing is I'm hoping this rig can last me for a while. So just in case I add onto it/upgrade some things in the future, I'd like to have the extra power. Anyways, this is what I've got so I'd like to think what you guys think. Thanks in advance for the support!
