Ive recently completed the custom built pc I always promised him I would. It cost me <£1000 in total, and Im pleased with it. I was aiming for a modestly powerful build that can do 1080p 60fps High-Max settings in most titles and future gamez for him for years to come.
    Here are the specs:
    .intel i7 5930k clocked to 4.4ghz, .Asrockmotherboard X99M Extreme 4 .16gb of corsair dominator platinum DDR4 3000Mhz RAM running at 2666mhz atm
    .Geforce gtx980ti with EKWB fitted
    .Samsung 950 Pro 512gb and 256gb M.2 ssd's
    .Seagate Firecuda 2TB SSHD
    .kingston HyperX 120gb SSD
    .Corsair ax760i
.EK Revo D5 Vario Pump and Reservoir, .Alphacool 120mm 30mm thick Rad and nexxxosmonsta 120mm 80mm thick rad, .Fully custom watercooled hardtube Loop
    .Silverstone ft03 PC chasis
Mix of slim 15mm 120mm fans and 2x Corsair SP120L's on the Monsta 80mm thick rad

FYI, AMD CPUs are not the same as intel CPUs.
They can't operate near 90-105C like intel can.

You should probably get a better cooler, and one with a larger coldplate because you're barely covering your CPU.
Only a small portion of a coldplate has fins on it.

Yeah new intel cpus are ridiculously expensive now. Personally I might jump onto the AMD Threadripper platform if their cpus like the 1950x drop as low as £350-£400 because at that price the 16 cores make sense. Also Asrock did a X399M Taichi mobo that would also fit in my current case and it supports up to 3x M.2 SSDs mounted to the board itself.

Can confirm, I've had two 980 Tis and I miss them. They're awesome GPUs and at least to me there's a sort of feel about them, I just like 'em. They eat anything at 1080p for snack except Rise of The Tomb Raider with very high textures, that takes about 8.5GB if you let it loose and the 980 Ti only has 6GB. Drop it to high and leave everything else on max and it's bueno. Should stomp 1440p easily as well, maybe even 4K, espesh in older titles.

And I had 1080s in SLI too, lol. Never scaled well with any of my games except Battlefront 2015. That gave about 80% scaling at 1080p, then 99% at 1440p and 4K. With no AA it pinned it at 144fps in 1440p ultra, 130-144 in 4K ultra with a 5GHz 8600K.

BRiiTASH got a reaction from Sernefarian in My new MATX Custom Waterloop build
Im building my newest pc, downsizing from my last build which was an x99 platform build with 2x1080's in SLI in a Thermaltake Core X9.
Long story short I killed my i7 5960x by Overclocking it, probably too much voltage for too long. I made the decision to downsize from the CORE X9 as my pump didnt have enough pressure for the 3x480mm rads i had in my loop, so I've downsized to an Inwin 8.0.5.5 Cube MATX case which ironically cost me more to buy than the larger case.
Anyway I sold the dead 5960x and my Asus X99 E WS motherboard and downsized to a 5820k and Asrock X99M Fat1lity motherboard (which i got in a bundle for only £200), which cost me less than I sold my Asus X99 E WS motherboard for (£240).
Anyway for the custom waterloop I bought 2x Nemesis Black Ice 240mm rads for £35 each and 1x Nemesis Black Ice 360mm rad new.
Bought a used XSPC Ion reservoir as I needed something compact and solid which provided multiple mounting options.
Anyway my everything else from my old build is basically being reused; Pump, PSU, Hard Drives, SSDs, Soundcard and one of my GTX 1080's which I hadnt sold yet.
Might be a bit of a downgrade but its a cheap system to hold me over till Threadripper 2 and the new model mobo's and hopefully a new X399 MATX motherboard releases.
Heres my progress so far with what Ive managed to assemble in the case.
I'll be updating this post once I have made some progress, ideally when fiiting the piping.

BRiiTASH got a reaction from Tech_Dreamer in Rate my New Build
Im beginning preperations for my new pc build. Ive dismanteld my last one which had a 5960x, 1080's SLI and 3x480mm rads in a custom hard piping loop. Ive decided to do a MATX build this time, as my last build had 3 rads, 2 gpu's and a cpu in the same loop, all powered by an AX1500i and an EK X-top Dual Revo d5 pump. The problem was by time the water reached the reservoir it was practically trickling in despite both pumps running at 100%. I assume that there wasnt enough pressure and too much resistance from the loop, so Ive decided to do a smaller, more compact loop reusing many of my parts but upgrading others.

I plan to do a Threadripper 1950x (watercooled), ASRock X399M Taichi MATX Motherboard, 32gb Corsair Dominator 3600mhz limited edition Platinum RAM, and a GTX 1180 (which i will watercool) when it releases. With my experiences with Nvidias poor SLI GPU Optimization Ive decided not to bother with SLI ever again.

The case Ive bought is an InWin 8.0.S.S Cube Case supporting MATX Motherboards.
I plan to use 2x380mm slim rads along the top, and a slim 240mm rads along the front. This should allow for enough coolong potential for a single CPU and GPU, whilst the slim form factor minimises resistance in the loop, hopefully allowing for better water pressure within the loop.
This case will no doubt be more compact and difficult to work in than my Thermaltake Core X9, but having some experience now doing a custom loop in a horizontally mounted case with Hard piping, i beleive it should be achievable.
Here is a pick of my case so far, checking clearance and positioning with the pump, reservoir, psu and hard drives mounted.

BRiiTASH got a reaction from aries757 in My New Case has Arrived (Inwin 8.0.S.S Cube), The start of something special
My new case has arrived, its an Inwin 8.0.S.S Cube MATX case. Costs £320 brand new but got it off a guy new for £170 new as he never used it in a build he planned.

Super excited to start this build but Im going to make sure i get this one right.
    My current build has a Thermaltake Core X9 with 3x480mm rads, an i7 5960x, 2 gtx 1080s, asus x99 e ws mobo, ax1500i psu, 3x2tb sshds, 2x 850 pro 512s, 1x sm951 512gb, 1x 960 pro 1tb, 1 WD Black 6tb HDD, asus strix dlx 7.1 soundcard, and ek xtop dual revo d5 pump and 25 fans in total.

Its only been assembled since christmas eve just gone but i couldnt resist the itch to start a new build which will likely involve ripping most of those parts out and selling whatever i will be upgrading, mostly just the cpu, mobo and gpu.

Im planning on using the new ASROCK X399M Mobo whenever it releases and a 1950x or whatever the new one will be, and a single GTX 2080 so long as it beats the 1080 sli.

Does anybody know of anyone who's built in this case before, or can find any information other than the CaseKing.DE video thats out there.
Im really loving how compact the case is and all the support for radiators (2x360mm and 1x240/280mm) that it has. It also seems to have the perfect mounting position for the large dual pump i already own, and it lools nearly identical to my Core X9 only smaller.

If anyone knows of any good slim rads and 120mm fans let me know, as they will be my next purchase unless asrock release the X399M (sponsor me maybe).
My last build has in total cost me damn near all of my pay last year (around $10,000), so it would be nice to save a little where i can for this one, but i dont intend on cutting corners.
Already mapped the loop out in my head (will be using hard tubing again ?) so that will be a challenge getting the bends right in such a small space but i managed last time so heres to hoping all goes well.

Just wanted to boast a little bit if im being honest, was a shitty day in work.

So about a month back i dropped one of my gtx 1080's and im hoping it isnt broken.

It wouldnt detect in my 3rd pcie slot so tonight i dissassembled my loop and placed the troublesome card in the 1st slot. Ive made a temporary loop to fill and test and im hoping it still works. I'll find out soon enough?

It's nickel-plated copper. It is a vapor chamber (and all vapor chambers as far as I know are made of copper), so there's nothing you need to worry about.

I placed to block down and removed it and some of the liquid metal appeared to move to where the last contact with the block was made, sort of sucked intowards it.
None of it appeared to seep out down the edges of the heatsink which was good.
To be safe I wiped the fluid part back into the centre of the heatsink using a qtip and applied the screws to tighten it down. Hopefully the extra pressure wont have resulted in any seepage but who knows for certain.
Only thing to do now is test it.

Nah, built it for my lol bro. Bought the Mobo for myslef but replaced it for an X99 EWS. Having that, i saw a 5930k and X99 Sabretooth combo go for £440 so i went for it.
Having the CPU and Mobo, knowing they will be good for a couple of years for him (he's only 12), i figured i'd buy some storage and such and reuse my old Corsair AX 760 PSU and 2x AMD Sapphire HDD7750 1GB GPU's i had from the first PC I built over a year ago.
If he wants a new gpu thats up to him. At least he has a solid platform and cpu/cooler/mobo/psu and storage from which to build from.
