sethy55 reacted to Aw_Ginger_Snapz in Thoughts about these setups
I used to have the higher clocked version of that chip, the X5450 (3.00 Ghz). I also started with a 750ti. It was my first "Gaming computer". The issue with the 5400 series is that they dont have much longevity. Not to mention horribly out dated. For example, they only support ddr2 ram, they are on a obscure socket (LGA 771) which also causes more headache than it should. Socket 771 motherboards are often very proprietary and don't offer many options to customize or upgrade. For example, don't expect to be able to slap on a liquid cooler, or air cooler on the CPUs. The back plate entirely depends on what the manufacture designed it to be. Small things like case fans can also be dependent on what board you have. For example, I had an HP xw8600 motherboard that didn't have 4 pin or 3 pin fan connectors... It had a proprietary 5 pin fan connectors that required me to use the crappy loudHP case fans.

1. Budget & Location
I have a budget of 700$. I dont mind going a little over it like 100$. I live in Canada.
2. Aim
I only plan to play games like league of legend, modded mincraft, watch youtube videos and i will aslow be using it to do project on word for school.
3. Monitors/Case/Components
I alredy have the phantom nzxt 410 case, a small monitor and a MSI RX 480 GAMING X 4G Radeon witch i recived for my birthday.
4. Peripherals
I alredy have a mice and a keyboard but i need an OS for windows. If you have an idea for a nice monitor you may add it but dont include it in the final price.
5. Why are you upgrading?
I am upgrading because my old left me to a better world...

sethy55 reacted to Gargone77 in Good ssd under 30 $
Honestly, that looks stupid. SD cards have a much higher rate of failure than even an entry level SSD. Since that's setup as Raid...1 card fails, all data is lost. Besides, $24 for that adapter plus the cost of 10 microSD cards...way more than an MX100 SSD.

sethy55 reacted to ArachneNet in Need a cheap graphics card and maybe a ps
well, 30$-40$ for a GTX560TI Twin Frozr second hand. then you have about 90$-100$ left for a psu. I think 500Watt is more than enough for your build. should be possible

sethy55 got a reaction from Fourple in Should I keep my Intel Core i5 3570?
Yes and no
Yes if you can sell it for that and your fine with spending the money
No because you have your whole system put together and you might want to wait for ryzen bugs to go away

sethy55 reacted to Mira Yurizaki in Windows PC numbers going down the drain - at least for those connect to the web
Percentages really don't mean anything to me if I don't have actual numbers to go along with it.
For example, what if in Mar 2012 the total number of devices was 1 billion and today the total number is 2.5 billion? That doesn't tell me the PC market is dying. It's just stale.

-
sethy55 reacted to Brooksie359 in Good power supplies under 50
the m12ii is basically a nicer version of the s12ii the key diffrence being that it is a modular design. its just generally a bit more expensive.
-
sethy55 reacted to Lolcrokn in Good power supplies under 50
Isnt m12ii good as well or am i wrong - its around same price in my country and tier 3 on psu tier list if low wattage and even higher on the list if higher wattage
-
sethy55 reacted to Brooksie359 in Good power supplies under 50
you don't need to pay alot to get a quality psu. you just have to be a smart buyer. the s12ii is one of the best budget psu and is under 50 bucks and wont risk any of your components.
-
sethy55 reacted to Brooksie359 in Good power supplies under 50
s12ii is good and any corsair cx m series psu that has the grey label on the side and not the green label

sethy55 reacted to light-v in Windows PC numbers going down the drain - at least for those connect to the web
This is a fact and pretty much everyone knows it but it only applies to casual users. Not everyone need a PC anyway
-
sethy55 reacted to Nowak in Windows PC numbers going down the drain - at least for those connect to the web
Google claimed there were 1.4 billion Android devices out there in 2015, while there were 1.25 billion Windows computers in 2011.
I wouldn't consider this to be "casuals are dropping Windows like flies" or proof that the desktop PC is a dying species. 0.02% is not a huge percentage difference.
