Also is When electric cars crash if the batteries are damaged they instantly burst into flames engulfing the car.... So if some situations your life is in more danger..... Also when Richard Hammond crashed that electric car on "the Grand Tour" they talked about how the car randomly burst into flames everyday for the next 5 days.

No that's exactly what you're saying. "Let's KILL off an industry, a couple million animals, and the people who take care of them, because environment" what about their benefits, such as soil aeration, fertilizer that is spread, and the auto mowing and keeping the native grasses from being choked out by weeds?(I'm battling the USFS on the same grounds right now.)

Remember when the who said we have to stop using antibiotics in animals or we are gonna die in 100 years? Beef dropped $30 and hasn't recoverd. The same thing when they said red meat is a "possible carcinogen"

My state of North Dakota, at the time of the last survey, has over 300 years worth of oil left in the KNOWN layers and enough KNOWN coal deposits to last until 2500, at the current rate of increase per year.

I really don't get why meat is unhealthy. I really don't. Then again I don't get why people want to screw us over.

You have awoken the Canadian/Canada Jr.(North Dakota, as the Canadian government seems to care about us more than the us government) Farmer.

    Edited last post.

To be clear my farm/ranch, for the most part, is in ND, but I farm land in MT, MAN and Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

I may seem defensive here but it is my main source of income, and I like doing it, but because of the "wonderful US Government" in the 80s("let's try to starve russia, because they won't buy elsewhere. Will they?") Has forced me to expand into other business and industries, such as a PC shop(that is mostly mail order) and building equipment. I assume that if your job, if you like it, was put under the same stress as mine, you would defense it too.

Environmentalists think that electric cars are green, this is not true.
    1) The carbon footprint of producing an electric car is more than a diesel or petrol car. The batteries, chemicals, etc produce a lot of bad waste for the environment compared to just making metals and pipes (or in the case of BMW and other german manufacturers, plastics).

    2) Electricity isnt generated cleanly everywhere, and the grid cant handle it. This can lead to brownouts, burning more fuels for electricity, etc

To offset the environmental impact of producing an electric car vs fuel, you'd have to drive the car for more than its battery lifespan.

The answer to a greener future is not electric cars or hybrids, its hydrogen. Hydrogen as a fuel is already possible with minor modifications to a petrol engine. Hydrogen as a fuel only burns to produce water and water can be separated back using green means like solar and other means.

If electric cars were the future, companies would be buying tesla but tesla suffers from quality issues and their lorries, only a few are ordered peer large companies for the cool factor and PR, not for the numbers. Even the cost of buying a tesla is so much more that regular people just cant afford it. If tesla cant produce a car for around $14000 than it has not solved any problems.

Removing and recycling old cars on the road will reduce the environmental impact far more than putting more cars onto the road, even if electric/hybrid.

Really I think our resources should be directed at researching cheap carbon-neutral fuel. That way gearheads can stil enjoy their fun cars, people wouldn't need to convert to electric, and you know that you can have a clean source of energy. Because a clean, worldwide energy grid powered by renewable sources isn't gonna happen overnight.

hmmmmmm then why do race cars have manual trans?
    1) they are stronger
    2) they can deal with very high HP and Torque
    3) they are better with fuel milage

the US it self pretty much made the truck industry and those are considered great and most militarizes only use US brand vehicles for combat and that speaks to how good and tough they are if almost every modern military uses or copies them because off that

Cost. The cost of maintaining a fuel infrastructure is stupid expensive due to the fact it's not common, and the proccessing is costly too.

I honestly prefer we can develop mainstream and somewhat cheap carbon neutral fuel instead of dumping money into electric car. That way, we wouldn't have to waste money on new cars that are boring as fucking toasters, and we can still drive the cars that we love to drive and enjoy for years.

I mean electric cars effectively kill the manual transmission, and I think that's the part that can make any car fun, even a 50hp base model dumpbox. Sure, you can make more power by just upping the volts, but what's the fun in that if you can't effectively control it?

Couldn't give a shit, I'll hopefully never have to suffer one. Moving pollution out of the cities is a good thing, I'd rather breathe clean air than diesel fumes, but it's not like electric cars don't emit brake dust which is also extremely bad for you. On a global scale the pollution of cars is completely irrelevant.

Eco/safety bullshit has already ruined the industry enough, every car these days is a two metre wide, 2000KG, turbo automatic 4-cylinder. It'll be even worse when every car is a soulless electric dishwasher.

Gone are the days when people over engineered things to last for 40+ years, you know built to last.(want examples? ask)

Also any manufacture that has tried to do that has ended badly-thus destroying the engine, I wouldn't as within 5 years I would need a new engine-that costs more than the vehicle itself.(also have examples)

It depends-was the flaw or oversight on purpose or accident? Did the engineers do it or was it a bean counter?
