kingatlas reacted to STRMfrmXMN in Which Graphics Card To Choose For A Prebuilt PC
You have a 7800 and a 360.
I can tell you one thing: The 360 isn't the bottleneck. You're looking at a pretty substantial system upgrade.

kingatlas reacted to Antony Leung in Upgrade graphics card ion Laptop
Welcome to LinusTechTips Forums! (aka LTT forums), i hope you will have good memories here. if you didn't know we usually use pcpartpicker.com website for listing the pc hardware when someone is planning a pc build. is a good website for knowing the price of the hardware.
For what you'r asking:
Generally speaking, Nope. Sorry. it's not possible. only desktop can upgrade.
But wait there's more...
Some laptops can use external GPU's like the razer's laptops, and you can change the gpu in you laptop but is not worth it.
Just build a desktop instead.

kingatlas reacted to Energycore in Is my computer VR ready?
Looks like your CPU would do just fine, however you will certainly need a GPU upgrade in order to run VR.
If you're going to put the money into a HTC Vive, it shouldn't be a problem to save 25% more and get a 6gb GTX 1060

DELL 7559 has done me good in GTA V medium preset 1080p so far, and it doesn't get hot enough for me to get another keyboard so there is my vote.

Bad GPU choice, unnecessary CPU choice, you don't need to upgrade your CPU, your i7-3770 is more powerful than a 4670K.
You do not need to upgrade anything besides the graphics card, look into RX 480 / GTX 1060 / GTX 1070 depending on your budget, and that's pretty much all.

kingatlas reacted to Pandelis R in Long term upgrade build
Well if this is a more long term upgrade then I recommend purchasing the GPU first as 1080's are the newest GPU's on the market and wont be replaced for at least a year now. Although in the category of CPU's the new Intel Kaby Lake Mobile i7 7500U processor should be releasing soon as we can see in LInus latest video so if this is a long term upgrade I recommend waiting and purchasing the new CPU as if you buy one now with several months it will be degraded by the new Kaby Lake processors.

kingatlas reacted to _JohnB330ci in Best laptop for $1100?
I personally have the Inspiron 7559, and I can well recommend it, but I advise not ordering it straight from dell. But about the laptop, it has great performance for the price, stays relatively quiet, increasing noise during demanding tasks however, the default hard-drive is accelerated through Intel's smart HDD system, and it works incredibly well, running games no problem when on the go and away from my desktop PC. Things I would take note off, is the majority of heat rises through the keyboard, the trackpad isn't great and is often buggy in terms of tracking, but still functions fine for everyday tasks, and I assume if you was going to game on it, you'd use a standalone mouse anyway. The keyboard backlight is a nice calm brightness for night use and the matte display is exceptional for outside use being able to reach an acceptable brightness. Its a full extended UK keyboard (My version anyway) including the numpad. The battery life is about 6 hours when not gaming, but charges extremely fast, and gets a slight performance increase when plugged in.
I would well recommend this laptop as for the same price range it is hard to find another laptop that has the same specs, or anywhere close for the size of the laptop.

kingatlas reacted to henkka_scorpio in Need help building a semi-budget pc
You might want to wait untill the GTX1080 is released and we got some real life benchmarks as most of the benchmarks that Nvidia have released are VR-results and it might not be so good in normal games as advertised, otherwise the setup you are planning seems fine, just you might want a bit more RAM as 8 gb might be a bottleneck in some games with high res textures. And remember all the cables and maybe at some point a bigger ssd for games and software and some good case fans, you dont want it to run too hot. If you ditch the HDD and buy a bigger SSD instead you can get maybe a 480 GB one. or if you have some old pc you dont use anymore you can always recycle that. PS. that is nowhere near a budget PC, more like high end . Good luck building it!

Look for 750ti benchmarks, the 960m in it should perform similarly. On a side note though why not wait till June, AMD might release polaris 10 and 11 for laptops as well.

People need to exercise critical thinking when it comes to NVIDIA's claims about Pascal. Seriously.
