Keep saving for a 1070 Ti which is a 1080 for 1070 price and would give actual feel-able performance increase.

Also the 3gb 1060 is a lot faster than the 960 by all means and for 1080p you really don't need more than that yet.

Also depends on what you're planning to play at 1440p because you'd have to play some games at lower settings because of the 1GB VRAM less

To add, in raw computing the 1060 3GB variant would win but that 4GB of VRAM on the 960 would come in helpful in high resolution gaming. I'd really refrain from buying a 1060 3GB if you're gonna push 1440p. Opt for the 6GB variant or if you can an 8GB RX 570/580.

Don't go for the 3GB model... Go for the 6GB... If you can stretch a bit further then go for a mid range 1070 card. It will be a much better investment and you'll thank yourself later.
EDIT: I switched from the 3GB to the 6GB model within about a month of having my PC and the 6GB is far better for 1080p, However, like i say, may want to consider a 1070 for 1440p

I really wouldn't see the benefit of buying a 3GB model instead of the 6GB so unless you're upgrading from a really old GPU I don't think it's worthy

    Hi there!

I had a similar problem a while back, and usually this is becuase of the different cables to your monitors.
I don't know why exactly it matters, but I can imagine it's becuase of VGA and DVI being analog and DP being digital.. Not certain however.

My recommendation would be trying only digital cables if possible. Might be hard with your older monitor.
Maybe swap out the DVI to an HDMI?

Personally if you just overclock your i5 to over 4ghz it will be enough for 4k gaming. For 4k you don't need a powerful cpu since in most cases at that high of a resolution any graphics card will be pushed hard and subsequently become the bottleneck. Get a gtx 1080 or 1080 ti, overclock your cpu as much as you can and you should easily get 60 fps in any game out there at 4k. If performance isn't adequate than upgrade to a better cpu however this shouldn't be the case.

Well, I've built 2 PCs and I've never used any gloves, modmats ETC. Just don't build on a carpet. And if you go do something else in middle of the build, make sure to touch something large and metallic (powersupply) before you start building again. Have fun with the build!

It will boot to the OS, but windows will most likely tell you that it's no longer valid and you have to get a new windows key if you have used that same copy of windows with another computer.

BitWit used magnetic strips in his Define S, so it works. Thought you'd like more confirmation

the i7 6700k will be plenty if all you do is gaming. Considering that i7 2600k's are still perfectly usable to gaming you should be more concerned about your graphics card choice.

Don't do the same mistake I did, which is buying a hard drive to your system before an SSD. You see, it's terrible to move windows to your SSD from your hard drive. You should get an SSD first so you can set it as a boot drive and then add a hard drive when you have the cash. Otherwise, the system seems nice, if you're on a tight budget

I would try reinstalling the GPU drivers and see if you have the old (nvidia) ones still on your PC. They may mess stuff up. Also if you can you should try using your old GPU and see if the glitch still happens. I hope this helps!

Sending back to retailer to get a replacement. As the issue was still present when trying another monitor with a different connector.

Try cleaning the graphics card from dust etc.

I think you should try with other headphones. If they work fine, then the problem is in your headphones. If the problem still occurs, the soundcard you're using may be damaged.

The short answer is you should be able to replace the mobo and keep your current windows activation. But it doesn't always work for some reason. I've gotten around 70% success rate so far.
