IslandStone got a reaction from Hyrogenes in Need help to improve boot-time
I am getting constant boot time of 27 seconds, and loading after typing the password is instant.
It may not be optimal, but I am happy with the improvement.

    Thanks for the help!

IslandStone got a reaction from Stormseeker9 in Gigabyte AD27QD - Worth it compared to competition?
It sounds like no matter what you had bad luck with your monitor. I've tried to read about issues etc, where I found several people stating blackout problems. I also found someone who fixed it with a hdr certified DP cable as oppose to the one coming with the monitor. According to TFT Centrals review it's a solid monitor, but I guess since its Gigabytes first monitor its bound to have some software hickups before its smooth for everyone.
I ended up buying the monitor last evening.
I will write when I've recieved it and tested it. I don't really have a comparable monitor, as I'm currently using a low-end sub 2007 VGA monitor with terrible specs, but I will give my opinion.

    Thanks again ?
    Can never be too sure!
Thanks for the insight! Is this software/driver-related issues, or the panel itself?

I will most likely go for the deal as I can return it should it not live up to my expectations. A deal like this rarely come by, normal price is 6500 NOK (749 USD).

Not just FPS; also general speed of CPU. Ryzen loves fast ram.

BUT: hang on till monday. We have computex and then we will know more about zen 2 and release dates.

Could be be worth waiting for zen 2 !

if you are going for AMD I suggest getting a 3000-3200mhz kit for RAM (Get a dual stick kit so you can run dual channel - ryzen loves that)

You could try resetting the BIOS. Another possibility is that your VGA cable just doesn't work with your HDMI adapter or, since the motherboard appears to have HDMI 2, maybe the motherboard is just not compatible with VGA.
Try to borrow a basic graphics card with a VGA output to see if that works.

I didn't mean outside speakers but that little thing you plug in in the internal headers section of your mobo. There are pins labelled "speaker" there, look it up, or a visit a local computer store, they should have stuff like that (it's fairly cheap).
VGA is analog and HDMI is digital but if you got hdmi to vga adapter, then it simply translates digital signal into analog one. The existence of that part would make no sense if it couldn't do that.

You should have bought cheap windows 7 licenses from ebay or keyseller sites like G2a, kinguin...
You can only upgrade with windows 7/8

Something important you missed is windows XP didn't get free upgrade to windows 10 and neither did vista. Windows 7 and above did.

Unless you do world-class overclocking competition, none of those would matter. Just get the cheapest timing you can afford.

    The ripjaws 8GB sticks that are 3200 c14, 3600 c15/c16, 3733 17-18-18, and a few others all contain these "b die" chips.

(This memory chip only comes on 8Gb or 16GB sticks, the 8GB sticks are single sided, and the 16GB are double sided)

I understand...   I used to buy high end boards but what I discovered was that I was buying fancy feature sets more than a useful board.

But that might just be me.

I recently did a comparison of the ASUS Z170-A board against the ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero board...  frankly, it LOOKS nicer, comes in a nice box, and does have a few features, but at the end of the day, you're paying a decent chunk of money for minor changes.
