  1. It sounds like either your particular fx-6300 is a bad overclock chip or you're limited by your mobo. I have the same CPU with a asus crosshair v formula z and I'm able to get upto 4GHz with all voltages set to auto. During prime95 run it ramps up to 1.428v (as reported by asus ai suite & CPU z). I've read that some people have been able to get it upto as high as 4.6Ghz with stock voltages (mine seem to max out at 4.1Ghz).
  2. Not sure where you live but Amazon in the US has the h100i for $79.99 (straight price no rebates). I just ordered one for myself.
  3. Again thanks for all of the inputs pey5531. I redid the process from scratch (reset the mobo CMOS, and made sure the drives were wiped clean and GPT) and the Windows 8 install took it =). The only thing I really did differently this time around was that I only used two drives (which I don't think really matters) and I did not use the Asus RAID driver. Since the Windows 8 install recognized the logical drive right away I went ahead attempted to install without them and it worked =). Guess it was a case of PEBKAC .
  4. Newbie, Do you have a another RAM kit you can swap in? When I first got this board I was using some low profile crucial ballisitx RAM and could not get it to post. I switch it out with some Kingston Hyper X and everything worked fine. On a side note if you find yourself doing a raid setup with this board, please let me know how it goes. I've been beating my head trying to get Windows 8 to install on a RAID 0 setup with this board.
  5. pey5531, Thanks for the input but I have tried change a bunch of settings in the bios and nothing seems to work. If you know of any specifics items I should change that would be great. When I remove the RAID 0 array, Windows installs on a single SSD fine so the drives are not the problem. I think I might need to get support from either Asus or Microsoft at this point....
  6. Yep did all that...Windows reconigzes the logical drive. But when I select it and click "next" it keeps telling me installation is not possible.
  7. Has anyone had success with installing Windows 8 on a RAID 0 configuration with a Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z? I'm have alot of trouble with this. I'm able to create the array with my three Samsung 840 120GB but when I go to install Windows it either tells me that "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu" or I get another message stating that installation is not possible and it reference one of 8x800.. error code. It would be greatly appreacited if someone can provide me with the specifics steps that will make this setup possible. There are a quite a few options within both the BIOS and the mobo's RAID configuration menu that I am not sure on so I fairly certain that it's something I did or haven't done, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Thanks in advance.
  8. Do you have another video card you can swap in to rule out a bad PCIe slot?
  9. Hello Everyone, I just recently upgraded my system with an Asus Crosshair Formula-Z, everything seems to be working fine but occasionally when I boot up I find that my secondary hard drive (an old Samsung 500gb) is not missing. If I restart the system it comes back. I have tried two different sata ports and have run into this issue on both ports. I just updated the bios, so if the problem continues I guess I'll try a different sata cable. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Also on a side (kinda off topic) note. I'm noob when it comes to crossfire and was wondering if its normal that one of my gpu appears to be off (fans not spinning and catalyst shows 0% activity) while my system is under low load and revs up when I start a game. SYSTEM SPECS: Crosshair V Formula-Z FX 6300 Sandisk 120gb SSD 500gb Samsung HD Crossfire HD 7850 OCZ 700watt PSU
  10. I've actually already test all four slots with the old G. Skill kit and have had no problems. If I install the Crucial RAM, even with just one stick, the system refuse to POST with the debug code indicates a problem with memory. Is it possible the motherboard and RAM are just not compatible? All of the tests I have done indicates that separately the RAM and the mobo are in working condition.
  11. Been working on this issue the entire day and cannot not come up with anything. I just bought an ASRock 970 Extreme4 mobo and I can't get it to work with my 16GB (4x4GB) Crucial Ballistix Sport Low-Profile RAM. I haven't had any problems with the RAM with my old mobo (gigabyte P55M-UD2) and I've re-tested (Memtest) the RAM with the old mobo and no errors were found. And what's even more strange is I've ran my old RAM kit, G. Skill 4GB (2x2GB), on the new mobo and didn't have any problems. There's only problems (no post with a debug code indicating memory problem) with I try to use the ballistix kit with the ASRock mobo. BTW along with the mobo I have an FX-6300, HD 7850, a seagate momentus xt 500gb and a OCZ 700watt PSU. Any suggestion would greatly be appreciated.
  12. Thanks for the info A/C....I have a 80Plus OCZ 700watt, I'm going to request an RMA. I have never had this problem before with my old 5770 and I've actually just got another 7850 from XFX for crossfiring and that card doesn't have any issue so far.
  13. I bought the SAPPHIRE 100355-1GOCL Radeon HD 7850 about a month ago and I've had at least two instances where my monitor would go into power saving mode and refuse to wake back up. The monitor would scan all three video connections for input signal but fail to get any. The really annoying thing about this is it does not always happen, sometime the monitor wake up just fine. I'm using a gigabyte p55m-ud2 mobo with a i7-860. Never had this problem before with my old Sapphire HD5770 using the same monitor.
  14. Thanks for the replies everyone. I wasn't expecting much considering my hardware and how it's a lot harder to mind now than it was back in the day....but I was kinda hoping to get may a few per month, at this rate I'll be luck if I get one a month =\ pGuerrerox thanks for suggesting litecoin I haven't heard about them but I'll definitely look into them.
  15. I just started bitcoin mining (probably a little too late from what I’m reading online). Does anyone have any tips regarding ways to optimize mining? I’m somewhat limited regarding hardware and was wondering if there were any way to improve mining on the software side. I am currently running a Sapphire HD 7850 1GB (Core: 975Mhz Memory: 1350 Mhz) and GUImining is reporting about 290Mhash/s (is this normal?). I’m planning on adding a second 7850 to crossfire for gaming but I’ve heard that crossfire does nothing for mining and may even decrease performance, is this true?
