  1. I've wondered for a couple of years about the difference between CPU and GPU transistor. An Intel Core i7-6700K has almost two billion transistors while a GTX 1080 has 7.2 billion transistors makes me think why? Bigger area so Nvidia can pack more? Simpler transistor architecture? Any contribution is always appreciated. Thank you very much!
  2. It will, I just fixed a computer for my neighbor and after putting an SSD inside, it runs like a boss. (That computer has a Pentium from 2011 I think and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM) P/S: It will be dependent on the speed of the CPU as well because some tasks (if not all) depend on CPU speed to be smooth as well.
  3. Don't forget that SLI doesn't scale up the amount of VRam, so you also have to consider the fact that GTX 970 only has 4 (3.5 to be exact) GB of high speed RAM.
  4. I think the only thing that I would like you to change is the graphics card. Not being offensive, but that card will give you 20 frames at most at 4K. Thus, consider go with a better graphics card like a 980Ti or a 1070 or a 1080 is the best for right now since they are few good cards (Titian is really expensive) that can run at least 30FPS at 4K. Good luck with your new build!
  5. So you mean Microsoft is starting to integrate Linux commands into Windows?
  6. Pretty good so far. I just noticed that since you are going to use a non-K processor, you might want to move out of Z170 Chipset and save some pretty pennies.
  7. After searching online for about two hours, I'm wondering, "Can PowerShell replace CMD completely?" and "Why don't we stop using CMD and move to PowerShell because PowerShell is very similar to CMD but way more powerful for administrative management?"
  8. I had done a lot of research before OC my GPU few weeks ago (MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X) and somehow my card's BIOS was corrupted and I had to exchange it for a new one (Techpowerup didn't have the BIOS for this card at that time so I couldn't reinstall the BIOS) Now I got the new one, should I OC or not? what is the best OC software to use? (MSI Afterburner killed my BIOS last time, try the EVGA Precision auto OC mode but it doesn't allow me to do that) Thank you!
  9. Remember, PS4 and Xbox One (the new one I think because I don't know much about consoles) can play movies at 4K, and a $500 PC easily beats them. Therefore, there are tons of space for cheap GPU for playing 4K movies.
  10. So you just want the card to play movies at 4K but not gaming, right?
  11. Haha! Unfortunately, I use the Fractal Design Define R5 after listening to Linus's recommendation, very solid case and comes with two pre-mounted 140mm fans. (very quiet) I think if you don't OC your CPU too high, an air cooler will give you solid cooling and quietness.
  12. Did the overheating problem happen before or after you had painted your card?
  13. Hey! I just built a very similar PC like you, and I'm using the Corsair H100i v2 L-cooler. I think it's a little bit loud with the dual 120mm fans that come with the AIO. Other than that, I think this is a solid build. Also, since your build is about 2.5K dollars, you might want to go with the 1080 or if you don't build it right now, wait for the 1080Ti (It might be really long or even never)
  14. Ahh, RIP then. Is that the 1070 or the HD 7450, if it's the AMD on, just toss it away and get a 1070 or 1080.
