Ended up buying a new Asus ProArt mobo. Vendor is going to send my Strix mobo to the manufacturer for an attempt at a repair.

Hi! Tried to RMA my board with vendor, but they have refused it due to “accidental damage”. I carefully fitted the motherboard and informed them that there were issues a few hours after delivery. Motherboard was then carefully removed from the case and put back in the box. The comments from them were: “the motherboard has been found to have damage across some of the PCB traces on the rear of the board, as well as having some damage to the outer edges of the PCB itself.” They’ve agreed to send to ASUS out of goodwill but I honestly feel like this is a way to get out of providing a replacement themselves. I wanted to avoid going through ASUS as I’ve heard they have very long wait times and I am within 15 days of purchasing the item, so as part of their warranty, they would have replaced if it was OK to them. What is everyone’s opinions on the images? Are they just nit picking? Is this normal for motherboards to have this amount of minimal damage? I did notice the board was completely straight when unboxed, but was not sure if this was normal (presumed it was as it worked)? Image also attached… For context, the motherboard had a coil whine issue. After posting on here, it seems like this may be a widespread issue with the batch of motherboards.

@Suban228Ah, same manufacturer month as you for both of them. I will let you know what Scan says once they assess the return, but looking like that whole batch was f*cked. Hopefully more people looking at purchasing this motherboard can find this thread on search engines.

@Suban228- Oh wow, thanks for letting me know. I’m really glad I am not the only one…. Long story but I ended up buying another (I thought I just got unlucky) and it had the same issue. One is being returned for a refund whilst the other is being RMAd with the supplier (who are going to test before resending) Out of curiosity, when was your motherboard manufactured? There should be a date on the box. And what CPU are you using?

@Mark Kaine Ah yeah, you’re right - sorry, completely missed that. Have just unplugged the AIO completely and then the back fan which is separate… sadly the same noise issue. Also changed the PSU whilst I was at it. It’s definitely the motherboard sadly Unless I’ve missed something, I’ll give it a few weeks and potentially RMA with Asus. It does seem to only be an issue once booted into Windows, so I shall try USB Linux in a bit.

Just changed my Windows power plan to "High performance" and set C-States to disabled again with no effect.

@Mark Kaine There's a few threads online about it, but seems very rare. I've never really experienced coil whine in a computer system, so unsure too. Honestly tempted to RMA (if ASUS accepts RMA's for these type of things) it next year, but will see how it goes. It's also really weird & annoying that it is on low workloads.... I've manually stopped all the fans with my finger (inc vrm cooler thing on the AIO) and the noise still occurs.

@Levent- Nope, not overclocked. It's currently happening now with 3% CPU load, so here is that data.

@LeventI can primarily hear it when idle / light workloads (just web browser & Discord open). It's only really once you get into Windows and not there in BIOS. It's not noticable / not there when under load - just did some prime95 stress tests and thought it went.

Hi! Having what seems to be a coil whine issue in my new build. It appears to be coming from the CPU area, but not sure what it is. No GPU is installed at the moment. I’ve stopped the VRM AIO fan with my finger and the noise still occurs. Have also tried to disable c-options in bios with no sucess. BIOS on latest version. CPU temperatures seem fine, so AIO definitely working. Parts: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 Asus ROG STRIX X670E-F Corsair Rmx850 IMG_3716.mov I've got another PSU that I am going to try this week. Any other suggestions for trying to figure out what it is, or should it go away eventually? As the parts are so new, I'd ideally like to RMA the effected one.

nevermind, the sticks work in slot A2 (second from left) and B2 (fourth from left)... what does that indicate? A1 and B1 do not work at all.

Hi, hoping someone can help. I finished my new PC build today and was greeted with a lovely "DRAM" q-led light. I've flashed the bios to the latest update, Version 0805, with no sucess. Have also reseated the ram & plugged just one in another slot. Parts CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 4.5 GHz 16-Core Processor Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory Any advice / guidence would be much appreciated.

Hi ? I'm looking to purchase the beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO Studio Headphones (80 Ohm). I've got an Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard, which has "SupremeFX 2014 + Sonic Radar II". Would that be okay for the headphones or will I need to purchase a seperate DAC & AMP for them?

I'm just thinking because as it's price so high and as I've got it for free - I was going to take advantage of the offer. If Ubuntu is better though, might as well use that

I'm not really sure of which operating system I should use on my home server which is a Dell PowerEdge 2950. I'm either going to install Windows Server 2016 which I can get for FREE with Microsoft Imagine or otherwise Ubuntu which I've had around two years of experience with. I'm going to use the server for the following and maybe a bit more in the future: Storage Server Plex Media Server and maybe the occasional game server when needed. What do you think I should use?

Hey, I recently purchased a computer to build myself but I have not purchased a GPU yet as I didn't know which one to purchase. This computer is for the casual game and for designing with Photoshop and rendering with Premier Pro and After Effects. (no massive projects though; small ones). Hey, I'm looking at purchasing a custom built PC for using programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro and Adobe After Effects and also the occasional game such as GTA. I need a computer to run all this and be able to handle it all smoothly. I have a budget set at £1500 for a decent computer. I have configured a computer on PCPARTPICKER and need opinions if it will be decent enough!
