A GT 740 is just not gonna make it if you want any kind of decent graphics. GTA V is very nicely optimized and you can definitely run it at "playable" fps with very low settings but that's up to you. A 500W psu is perfectly fine for a decent low-mid range gpu like GTX 1650 or even a 1660ti. Just make sure the psu has some kind of 80+ rating(highly recommended) or atleast isn't from some sketchy brand.

So I own a laptop with a gtx 940mx. Not gaming grade by any means but I usually only play dota 2 soo no big demands. Recently checked some benchmarks and got gta 5. It gives around 40 fps at medium at 768p. The thing is sometimes it gives horrible frames rates like it's running the game on igpu. I can say this because I can clearly notice the dgpu fan not running. I think it's the battery boast feature of 900m cards for saving battery which switches to igpu when not needed (not sure about the feature's name). I tried different scenarios like playing at low battery, full charge, charging connected, discharging, changing default gpus, changing power consumption setting to max performance in nvidia control panel(only tried that and optimal). All of them yield random results :(.... Can someone help me out?

I am looking for a case for my living room to connect it to my tv. The problem is the shelf where I plan to keep it has 10 inches of length meaning I need a case of depth (front to back)10 inches or less. No restrictions on width or length though. Mini itx will do but no sfx psu (not available here). Doesn't need to be htpc either. A mini itx shallow case with good looks will also do.

The i3 is dual core n while it Has HT nt having 4 physical cores can be very limiting in some games. At this price point I recommend a AMD build....ik it has no upgrade path bt if u wanna start gaming immediately u will be better with a quad core cpu. Also u don't need the cooler

U can remove the after market cooler as no overclocking and throw in a 120gb SSD for os and other applications.

Soo I was looking at some laptops with thunderbolt ports bt the docking stations for thunderbolt are too expensive for me right now(they r really expensive in my country). Soo am thinking of using the mpcie slot for connecting something like a GTX 960 for 1080p gaming on my laptop or the tv. Ik the bandwidth is limiting with a exp gdc bt it's way cheaper. Soo I just wanted to ask does the bottleneck of Gpu is really significant? Is this a good idea keeping in mind it's very low setup cost. Will I be able to play those graphically intense games with good fps? I will consider the thunderbolt setup in future bt for now the total cost is on the wrong side of the budget.

I don't know is it sensible to post this here bt couldn't find a better place. Anyways I was thinking of pairing a i5 6400 with R9 380 4gb. Since I had some budget left I thought of going for the i5 6500 since there is nt much of a cost difference bt the frequency jumps frm 2.7GHz to 3.2GHz. On doing some research I found that a R9 380 might bottleneck the 6500 n the recommended pair was 6500 and a GTX 970 or R9 390 8gb which was out of my budget. Soo I just wanted to know how to get the best CPU and GPU combination. Are there any thumb rules or pairing charts or anything like that for the latest hardware to help me with the pairing.
