  1. NAME: AMD Powerhouse CPU: AMD FX-8350 at 4.0GHz GPU: XFX R9 390 (stock clock and voltage) RAM: x2 8GB DDR3 HyperX Fury 1866MHz Dual Channel
  2. Hey there Slick! So i feel like you expertise is needed here.

Im currently running an AMD FX-8350, an MSI 970 gaming motherboard, x2 sticks of Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 1866 memory, a Corsair H80i GT, and an XFX R9 390 8gb graphics card.

I have been rolling around the idea of switching to Intel due to the fact that I am a small time C# programmer who works with 3D games in Unity (and some Blender 3D modeling).

IN YOUR OPINION do you think that it would be worth it to dish out the money for a good i7 and motherboard (with DDR4 memory), or should i just wait it out and get the AMD Zen when it comes out?

    Thanks man, happy building!

I'm no slick, but I would wait till Zen. Even if Zen turns out to be a complete flop, DDR4 memory price is going down quick, so by the time Zen comes out it should be at an affordable price.

  3. I think i'm good GPU wise lmao. I just got an XFX R9 390 that keeps up with any card you throw its way
  4. I think that all this post is doing is just solidifying my want to just stick with my 8350, overclock the shit out of it, and wait for zen. I mean really, i don't do any 3D modeling, and i do very light 3D game development with Unity. So at the moment i suppose my 8350 will do just fine.
  5. YES thank GOD! Woohoo! Alright Intel can go screw itself now. AMD FTW.
  6. Haha yeah i just scoured the post looking for something relating to price lmao
  7. Welp, looks like I'm going to have to upgrade my motherboard anyways lmao. I wonder how the price will compare to Intel though... Latest and greatest is always expensive..
  8. No, I said memory should be AT LEAST DDR3 1866MHz with at least 2 channel support
  9. Oh I do love this power hungry beast, but i always wonder if there is just something better. Now, i was not aware of another AMD CPU in the works. So i might just have to research this.
  10. I dunno, i'm the kind of guy who is always looking for the best. And right now AMD is just not putting out. And they haven't been for a while now. I mean don't get me wrong i LOVE their GPU's, but Intel kinda kills them in CPU's.
  11. Alright, so here comes the question that has probably been asked COUNTLESS times in the matter of a couple days. But I'm gonna ask it anyway. I'm a hardcore AMD fan. I am currently running an FX-8350 and was thinking about potentially switching from that to a 9 series when a buddy of mine told me off saying i should just cut my losses and switch to Intel. So here is my question: What motherboard / CPU combo would you recommend? It needs to be a HIGH END gaming setup and able to be overclocked. With support for at least 1866 MHz DDR3 memory at 2+ channels. Eventually looking at potentially CF with two XFX R9 390's, so motherboard needs support as such. Also, would prefer an ATX as I currently have a Corsair Carbide 500R case with an MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard. I was already sort of looking into it, and my two choices thus far are: I5-4690K OR I7-4770K. (Is it REALLY worth it to dish out the extra money for the I7?) Still unsure about motherboards for either. Thanks in advance guys!
  12. Huh.. I just bought the Corsair H80i GT for my AMD build. Everything seems to work fine with my MSI 970 gaming motherboard. All Corsair Link readouts are running as they should be. Did you try going to device manager, disabling/ uninstalling the driver, and starting from scratch? Windows might have put some crappy driver in place of Link when you installed Windows 10, which would kind of explain why you don't see the fans/ pump when you start Windows, but you do when you unplug/ plug it back in.
