  1. Yes it is for gaming. I've had laptops like this before and they are more than portable enough for me so that isn't a concern. I just need something I can easily throw in a bag and take with me while I'm away for work
  2. Does anyone have some advice on which of these laptops will give the better performance. I have the choice between two. The first from last year and the second from this year. I have listed the only differences between them. Thank you. ROG STRIX SCAR 17 FHD 17.3" 360Hz RTX 3080-16GB Ryzen R9-5900HX 32GB DDR4-3200Mhz ROG STRIX SCAR 17 QHD 17.3" 240Hz RTX 3070ti-8GB i9-12900H 32GB DDR5 4800Mhz Also to note all listed components are laptop grade
  3. I'm not to bothered about weight. I will be carrying it around a lot but I don't care if it's a little heavy. Battery life is not to much of an issue as it will nearly always be plugged in but obviously bigger is better. My budget is around £1800 but I'm willing to go a little over £2000 for something really special. Edit: the two biggest things I'll be looking for after performance is cooling and noise. I'll be using it in a pub a lot to connect to the internet so quieter is good but not imperative.
  4. I've also been looking at the pc specialist octane v/vi
  5. Or what about this Alienware laptop with an i7 8750 and 1070? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alienware-Laptop-Memory-NVIDIA-GeForce/dp/B07D6CMJYS/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1552414899&sr=1-2&refinements=p_89%3AAlienware|Razer%2Cp_n_feature_seven_browse-bin%3A11416479031
  6. Yeah I've been looking at quite few different laptops. The acer Helios 500 seems to be a good choice. From what I've seen of the GL703GS it seems to be on par with most other laptops as far as cooling goes and been on offer for £1400 seems like a really good deal.
  7. GL703GS-EE071T, https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-rog-gl703gs-nvidia-gtx-1070-16gb-17.3-120hz-g-sync-3ms-i7-8750h-gaming-laptop-lt-266-as.html GL704GW-EV004T https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-strix-scar-ii-gl704gw-nvidia-rtx-2070-16gb-17.3-144hz-3ms-i7-8750h-gaming-laptop-lt-26u-as.html
  8. Both are an i7 8750h. The one with a 2070 has 512gb ssd and a 1tb said. While the 1070 has 256 ssd and a 1tb her at 5400hz. Not other than that both seem to be nearly identical. Both are rog strix scar
  9. I'm looking at a couple of laptops. No the are the same brand. One is last ears model with a 1070 and the other is this year's model with a 2070. There is a £700 price difference between them. (Granted this year's model has the better storage option as well). Will there really be enough of a performance upgrade at 1080p to justify the increased price when I don't care about ray tracing?
  10. Max budget is around £2000, although one willing to pay a little more for a something really good. Despite may plans to be constantly carrying it from place to place I'd rather sacrifice weight for cooling. It will nearly always be plugged in so battery life is secondary.
  11. I might give MSI a miss then. If there bad build quality and have poor software optimisation I'd rather spend a little more on a quality product
  12. I'm now thinking that maybe I should wait a little longer while I save some more money and get a Acer Predator Helios 500 PH517-51 as it seems to have really good thermals and I'm not sure how good the MSI laptops will be
  13. I've been looking at two MIS laptops, the GT63 Titan 8RF and GP73 Leopard 8RF. I think I slightly preferer the GT63 but I'm trying to get as much information as I can before I make the purchase.
  14. My only option to buy a laptop currently is through overclockers so anything you'd recommend I would need to be able to search for through that site
  15. Yes. I've been looking at a few and have settled on these
  16. I'm looking at getting a Gaming laptop and have finally narrowed it down to my final two choices (for now). There is only a £300 price difference and was hoping someone could help me make my final decision. Here are then major specs differences. Intel®,Core™ i7-8850H Processor 2.6 GHz up to 4.3 GHz) Intel Core™ i7-8750H processor Hex-core Nvidia GeForce® GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 Nvidia RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6 512GB M.2 SSD 1TB 7200rpm 512GB PCI-e SSD 2TB HDD I'll be pushing for absolute best setting possible at 1080p (maximum supported resolution on both) in games ranging from 10 years old to the latest AAA games yet to come (looking at Cyberpunk 2077 as the next big release I can't wait for) One is cheaper and has a better cpu while the other has an RTX 2070 (although its not stated as weather its the superior version as there seems to be 2 different ones {TU106-400A vs. TU106-400}) Any insight on the differences that can be expected in performance is greatly appreciated. Aditional: I have no intention to overclock the 8850H if thats the one I chose. and below are the pages I've go my specs from. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aorus-x5-v8-cf1-nvidia-gtx-1070-16gb-15.6-fhd-144hz-g-sync-intel-core-i7-8850h-gaming-laptop-lt-035-au.html https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aorus-15-x9-nvidia-rtx-2070-16gb-15.6-fhd-144hz-intel-i7-8750h-gaming-laptop-lt-039-au.html
  17. MSI GT63 Titan 8RF MSI GP73 Leopard 8RF Aorus X5 v8-CF1 These are current the front runners I'm trying to decide between but I can't find any good comparisons between them. Any feedback would be apricated. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-gt63-nvidia-gtx-1070-16gb-15.6-fhd-120hz-g-sync-i7-8750h-gaming-laptop-lt-27c-ms.html https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-gp73-leopard-8rf-nvidia-gtx-1070-16gb-17.3-fhd-120hz-i7-8750h-gaming-laptop-exclusive-lt-28q-ms.html https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aorus-x5-v8-cf1-nvidia-gtx-1070-16gb-15.6-fhd-144hz-g-sync-intel-core-i7-8850h-gaming-laptop-lt-035-au.html
  18. weight, pretty much none at all. Battery life, obviously more is better but I'll probally always be plugged into the wall anyway
  19. What about the ROG Zephyrus laptops. Iv e also been looking at them
  20. The main reason I picked these is there on sale. I normally look to Asus and ROG fist as it's the brand I'm most familiar with. My MoBo GPU and monitor are all ROG. The main requirement I have for the laptop I want is at least a 1070, and the sweet spot for pricing is between £1500-£2000. If you have any recommendations for laptops that fit these parameters on Amazon one overclockers in the UK I'll gladly consider them
  21. https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-G703GI-E5005R-17-3-Inch-i7-8750H-Windows/dp/B07C7RYX8R/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1550322165&sr=8-6π=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=rog+laptop https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-rog-gl703gs-nvidia-gtx-1070-16gb-17.3-120hz-3ms-g-sync-i7-8750h-gaming-laptop-lt-266-as.html Links to both laptops. The model with the 1080 also has faster storage but I'm still struggling to justify the extra £1000
  22. Resolution will be 1080p as both laptops seem to have the same screen While the extra ram is probably nice it'll be cheep enough to upgrade that myself if it ever became a problem. Games wise I play everything from 10 year old classics to the newest demanding AAA titles. The 1070 seems by far the better option to me as I don't see a 1080 offering enough extra performance to justify the £1000 price increase. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything before I ordered it
  23. Im wanting to buy a laptop for gaming and I'm trying to decide between two. They both the same in almost every respect. Both have the same 1080p screen and both ROG g703 The only differences are One is £2500 and comes with a 1080 and 32gb ram The other is £1500 and comes with a 1070 and 16gb ram. Is it really worth £1000 to step up one GPU level and an extra 16gb ram?
