  1. This is what I worry about, the 1050 is pretty much new tech, won't the cpu bottleneck it? or the board itself? keep in mind it's ddr2 ram for example, so maybe an older gpu should be considered?
  2. The GPU of this system is kaput, so I need a replacement, no idea what would work on this old thing though, what would be the best low-mid range priced gpu's for this? Asrock N68-GE AMD Athlon X4 635 Yes it's a pretty old system.
  3. Protip: if it didn't work the first time, the second time is going to be worse because of expectations and past resentment.
  4. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Bh7NvV The build is made with two things in mind, firstly it must be budget. Without a graphics card this build comes up to 600$. I'll be using it for gaming basically, plus some light programming on the side, no design rendering on this one. That being said here's my justification: The CPU is cheap, reliable and generally very good value for the price. Couple that with an oversized cooler because AMD. Motherboard has the 990FX chipset so that's a plus, I'm aiming for a motherboard that I won't change in a few years, not necessarily this one if you know a better one for roughly the same price or a little higher cost. Memory is a single 8gb card because I plan on getting more later, assume the build will have optimally 16gb. I always end up using more than one program, also I plan on hosting servers for gaming with my brother and other friends when we do lan-parties. All I know (little) is more ram is recommendable for running multiple programs, which is something I do often. Storage: plan on buying an SSD later, but meanwhile a 2tb drive will be my main drive. It's not the best BEST but it's up there. if I go lower than that the price performance drops, but I don't want to spend 90-110$ on a HDD. Case chosen because A: looks cool B: It's coolerMaster C: convenient to use. Power supply might change based on GPU, ideally want double what's necessary. The setup is going to use two 1080 screens, using only one for gaming, two for programming and other activities. If I upgrade to 2 2k screens I will upgrade my graphics card too, although If I can get a gpu for a bit more that runs a game in a single 2k screen I would. EDIT: Don't care about those fancy shmancy new reality glasses the young'ings talk 'bout. If the card is capable, fine, if it's not, that's fine too. EDIT2: I'm fine with +40FPS gaming, even 30, I want it to be competent and cheap if possible, although if the card is legitimately good, I'd like to hear about it.
  5. I need a way to force the laptop to recognize a graphics card connected to a usb 3. Now normally, you would connect the external pcie thing to the mini pcie inside the laptop. OR through a thunderbolt conection, but I have none of those aviable. My laptop dosen't have the place for that, so I was wondering if there was a way to use the conexion that the external pcie uses, a usb 3 cable between the external pcie and the internal one and to force it to work somehow. Bear in mind I do not have suturing equipment so that's out of the question. If anybody wonders why I have such an unnecessary part on me, the person who was going to use it bailed, so now it's mine bt I'd rather try and use it tan just sell it.
  6. I would If the hole was bigger *badum tsssss* That's a surpirsingly good idea, and the profile of the card is small enougth that I could actually get it into the table, but then again I might buy a new table instead of using my old one. I think I'll be buying some epoxy son, now If nly wasn't so broke atm I could wear a part of it as some geeky accessory, that's a pretty good idea.
  7. That's actually something I could do thanks But I meant something more silly, stupid or something straight up dangerous for the card?
  8. I have recovered one of the few working parts of an old pc I used, this was in it and it still Works, but it's totally potato level junk so the question is: Can Linus Tech Tips come up with a purpose that ISN'T throwing it away or recovering the gold off of the connector?
  9. TL;DR: I have a samsung tv, a samsung allshare cast dongle and no samsung phone, is it going to work? how? Google provided me with no good answer and neither did a tech savvy friend of mine, so I'm coming to you guys with a tricky one: I have an LG phone, a samsung cast dongle and a samsung tv. First off, is it even possible to make the three work? I could connect through direct wifi but I could not get my screen on the tv. If those components can work, the second question is how? some app I havent found yet? some hack or rooting the mobile phone is required etc? Honestly I got the dongle for free and I want to know if I can get some functilnality out of it, being able to watch youtube videos from my phone on a bigher screen would be awesome. Thanks for reading.
  10. I wanted to spend about 200 or less for ram, motherboard and cpu because i might be able to get a deal with an old graphics card that should run most games well enougth, same thing for power source, maybe.
  11. You mean the Dell server is a no no for gaming so I should look for another one or that server builds are a no no for gaming in general? I was kinda hopeful because of the video ,:D
  12. I fully admit to being a cheap bastard, but then again being poor does that to you.
