  1. Ehh, it's only two plugs for the APs. Not too big of a deal to me. Do you run cat 6a? I've done some searching and it seems like solid-core breaks easier.
  2. The Unifi APs come with a POE injector, should've mentioned this earlier sorry
  3. Hey all, So my parents are about to renovate the house that was just purchased and we are redoing everything (DIY except high voltage electrical). So that means there will just be framing. This would be a great time to wire up the house with some network cabling. I have some questions about the setup that I have proposed: For the APs and POE Cameras, I plan to terminate into a keystone unmounted in the ceiling and just run a patch cable. Will it be okay to do this? I have attached a table of tools and materials. Is this enough to do the whole job? Should I purchase patch cables or can I just use the extra cable from wiring the house? This is just for the network cabinet. Do I need conduit? Since there is only framing, I could install conduit to each room or from basement to attic. How do I secure the wiring when going vertically? I was thinking of staples for the cat6a. There are no specific state code for data com wiring, so I have to follow the national code. Is there a TL;DR of this? I live in NJ, USA. 1 Patch Panel 24 Port Cat 6 Keystone Patch Panel 1000 ft cat6a Punch down tool 50 pc keystone jack 1 Unifi NanoHD 1 EdgeRouter-X (OWNED) 1 Unifi AP Ac Lite (OWNED) 1 CM1150V Modem (OWNED) 10 Low Voltage Mounting Brackets Switch Security Cameras
  4. Recently I have gotten rid of my modem rental at Xfinity and I was looking for a good “router” (basically a all in one combo of router, switch, and AP). I’ve settled with a CM1150v for my modem and I originally bought an R7000 for the 1500 sq ft house. Turns out from reading the internet, the r7000 is not a good buy for reliability and now I’ve bought an edgerouter X and a Unifi AP AC Lite. My current connection is 750 down with 17 up. I was wondering if the equipment I bought is enough for the household. At peak, there are four devices streaming at least 1080p, sometimes 4K. Can someone direct me on how to set this all up as I am a complete newbie on networking but fairly savvy enough to read an online guide. I plan on putting the AP on the floor of the 2nd store in the center of the house. If I need to purchase or return, what should I get?
  5. Just got one for college, and I'm wondering which brands and products are good for the MacBook. I know dongles are a must have but which brand is the "best"? Which screen protectors/cases/keyboard covers are recommended? Thank you
  6. Sorry for late reply, I updated the link to show the problem I'm having
  7. The two year warranty ended one month ago, and I have no idea where to find the part to fix it online. How can I fix this?
  8. Alright, my setup is from 2013 and it features a Razer BlackWidow and a Razer Deathadder.

  10. Yeah but I heard that editing is a lot easier using Nvidia cards due to CUDA Also should I get 6700K or I should stay away from overclocking (fairly new at the tech scene)
  11. Hey guys, I recently found out about Linus's forums and came here to refer to you guys about any tips on an upcoming build. My budget is around $1200 USD and is adjustable. I currently run one monitor @ 1080p and am thinking about to move to a 3 monitor setup @ 1080p if the build can support it. I primarily game and try to go for ultra if not at least very high settings and sometimes will use editing software such as adobe after effects or Cinema 4D. I also plan to overclock this computer as well. Are there any suggestions to this build? Thanks!
