    There are three types of noise that come from hard drives and whether you can deal with them really depends on which it is:
     
    1) Vibration noise that is transferred into the case. This you can solve by using rubber gromets where the drive connects or suspending it in rubber connectors. Basically you isolate it from the case some how so the vibration isn't to metal. A lot of quality cases come with these types of connections already and in other cases you may find it difficult to do.
     
    2) Head movement noise - Clicking when you use the drive. Not a lot you can do about this, its inherent to the design and they all make an amount of head noise although it varies enormously from model to model in my experience.
     
    3) Spinning noise - This is the constant whine/hum of a drive with the platter spinning. Not all drives make this but some do. There isn't a thing you can do about this type of noise.
     
    So basically you can solve the vibration related issue (which you can test by just removing the drive and holding it in your hand) but not the other sources. Wrapping drives in cooling/sound proofing can work but when you start adding up the cost it might not be worth it compared to the substantial other benefits of an SSD, they are quiet and dont rely on spinning rust!

    step 1) figure out what cpu your laptop uses
    step 2) check the socket for that cpu/laptop (if its not soldered on)
    step 3) find a cpu that fits in a similar socket on intel's ark
    step 4) make sure the TDP of the new cpu isnt that much far off from the original, or you might be facing overheating issue
     
    these are the steps you should take to replace your laptop's cpu, though there is no guarantee your laptop's bios will support the new cpu
     
    edit: also, to run games, you need better graphics card too, unless your game isnt that demanding
    graphics card in laptops are tougher to swap because there's no standard for laptop gpu

    well as long as you dont pin your processor at the max speed and voltage all the time
    it should go back to low frequency and voltage during idle/low load

    its the games that requires more or less cores, but yea stronger cores does perform better for amd cards
    no ssd is still fine, but $1000 pc with an i3 `-` it killed a part of me lol
    u wish  marketing > consumers' wishes
    to be fair, i think asrock is still fighting against it to have an external chip to overclock the bclk or something lul

    I updated the topic with a lot of your suggestions  as for the i3 only having 2 cores, it's hyperthreading and skylake architecture make it a better choice than any of it's AMD competitors. Even in CPU bound games the i3 kind of strangles the FX-6300 to death.
    And for the Pentium G4400 it's Skylake architecture and upgradability make it a far better choice than the more expensive Pentium G3258. Even though the G3258 is slightly (~10-20%) better in performance.

    Beats the 960 in almost everything.
    As for the 970 thing, it can be a little bit of preference, so if you don't want to change it that's fine since I understand for some people 970 can still be a good deal. Anyhow:

    As for the last point, remember we are talking about the 6700, not the 6600. The 6700 is about 60 bucks more right now. You can up the mobo to a z170 for about another 40 bucks. Add in the 25 dollars for the 212 evo, and you really are only paying 5 bucks more.
     
    These are my suggestions. I highly disagree with the 960 point, but the 970 can be preference and for the 6700 if you believe DX12 can take advantage of those threads well enough to make it a good choice, then it's fine with me.

    Before I start this list I just want to say there is absolutely NO "brand bias" in this list and I would like to keep brand bias off of this thread. Also all of the builds have been outfitted with 16gb of RAM to make them equal and include ONLY CPU/GPU, mobo, PSU, and RAM.
