  1. I'm planning to finally upgrade my gtx 980 to a whole new system with an rtx 3080. I'm considering an ultra wide but I can't stand the idea of buying a $800 or more monitor. I've heard good things about both the Nixeus and the Viotek model (which I think have the same panel). Anyone out there know if one is superior to the other? I’m especially concerned about dark level smearing. Should I be looking at another monitor entirely? Thanks in advance!
  2. Hey Guys, So I recently ditched my hand me down office chair for (what I thought) was a nice ergonomic chair (Staples Ayalon). I tried it in store and liked it, but after a few days of sitting in it and experimenting, my lower back and butt are KILLING ME. I spent about $230 after tax (it was on sale, its originally $300). I'm gonna have to return it but I don't know what to replace it with. I don't want to spend more than $300-ish, so please don't say Herman Miller. Chairs I've considered are the ErgoChair 2, Secretlab Omega, Uplift Pursuit, and (for more budget) the Hyken (though I tried it in store and wasn't blown away). I know everyone's backs are different but I'd love some input. If it helps, I'm 5'9" and around 165lbs.
  3. I've been searching for the IDEAL clicky gaming switch. I love the feel of a clicky switch but I don't want to sacrifice in-game responsiveness. For those of you who have used the Kailh Speed Bronze, would you recommend it over other clicky switches (for both gaming and typing)?
  4. I definitely want to game at 1440x3440. Sorry for not clarifying sooner.
  5. As expensive as they are, I'd love to game on an ultrawide--especially one with a higher refresh rate! The new LG Ultra gears are sweet, but there are less expensive options as well. For reasons of longevity, what would you all consider the minimum to ideal specs (cpu and gpu) for an ultrawide gaming build? Thanks in advance!
  6. I got a really good deal on my gtx 980, so it made sense in my situation...so please focus on the CPU. Thank you.
  7. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/BHD/saved/gsMLrH http://pcpartpicker.com/user/BHD/saved/LwHdnQ Both these build are within my budget, but I won't go any higher. I just want to find out if there is really any substantial advantage to going with the skylake cpu.
  8. I was resigned to go with a i5 4690k (being that it is a super solid CPU) along with an msi z97 gaming 5 motherboard. But lately, I've started second guessing myself. Should I instead spend a little more and get the i5 6600k with an msi z170a g5 instead? P.S: I also do lots of voice over work, so please give advice if you know any pros and cons to these motherboards. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6mbRpg
  9. Obviously the price to performance of the 980 is pretty poor compared to the 970, however, would it be worth getting the 980 for 1440p now that the price has dropped to $450 (aprox.)? I can afford a 980 (not a 980ti unfortunately), but I just want to make sure I'm not blowing the extra $130 for no reason (I want to be able to play AAA titles at high...ultra is an optional luxury)
  10. I'm trying to decide whether or not to spend the extra $130 for a 980. If I were running 1080p I wouldn't think twice about getting a 970, but I'm running at 1440p. Would the 980 be more "future compatible" or would I even notice the difference? For example, I'd like to be able to play "The Division" without sacrificing too many setting. (And no, I can't afford a 980ti and no, I don't want to hear about the AMD alternatives...please stick to these two specific cards).
  11. I was planning on the gtx 970 but I'm slightly concerned because I'm using a 1440p monitor. I'll my gamer friends assure me the 970 will be fine but I don't want to max out the V-Ram. A lot of you have suggested the R9-390 (it definitely has a lot more V-Ram). My only concern is the longevity of AMD hardware vs Nvidia...HELP!!!
  12. So, here is my build. I would love to hear people's input or advice. This is my first time building my own rig but I've put in a lot of time and research. If you think I should use different part(s), give me a suggestion. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/VvnQjX P.S: I can't afford to go above $1,200
