  1. That video is great! Thanks a lot. Is MX4 the stuff that you get with the Arctic cooler? I'll have a look on Google, should be able to find it there. Thank you for all the help.
  2. Thanks a bunch guys! @Jurrunio I honestly dont know a lot about fans, I have to admit i just googled "best case fans" haha. What kind of a setup would you recomend here. @lee32uk I like the recomendation for the other cooler! Looked into it a bit and the performance seems really good! Have to say that the thing is ugly as *bleep* but hey! It's for at the office so I would say Function > Form. What is so bad about the liquid metal? I've heard some good stories about it. I'm not sure about changing the disks as these seem really fast and I do think it will be worth it. The fans seem nice and cheap! especially since it would bring the total to 9 fans as the 3 fans on the AIO seem to be the same. However I have heared that Noctua fans are quiet a bit more quiet. Do you have any experience with this? @VeganJoy Gotcha! s12b are out! Thanks for the fan sugestions. These noctuas do seem a bit better although they are twice as expensive as the arctics. Do you think this would be worth it? Overall a lot of solid advice! - Upgrading the PSU seems like a solid idea, especially since the build wil run high rendering workloads over longer periods of time. - The Tomahawk motherboard seems like a solid choise to add the Wifi / BT to the build. - Interresting that none of you swaped the RAM for something slower to save some money so I would guess this is worth it. - The case fans I will swap out for sure! as mentioned above I dont know a lot about it. Do you guys have any recomendation on fan setup here? I thought of having 3 intake op the side and 3 exhaust on the top with the radiator replacing the stock fans with the Noctuas. But maybe its better to leave the stock fans and just add these 3 on the botom? Would love to hear your opinion on this! Here is an updated spec list based on your feedback! (Not sure how to make it look like yours @VeganJoy, haha) Thanks again everyone! I'm not planning on buying all of this at once, but to buy everything whenever it is available. A while back I already posted on this forum with some plans on building a new PC. I've gotten some great tips, mostly to wait! I did and now I'm once again getting ready to build a new PC. With that out of the way, some info! I'm building a new PC for work. I'm an animator that works in Houdini, Cinema4D (With Octane renderer) and After effects primarily. Often the working files are stored on a local NAS, I know it's not the fastest but this way everyone can reach them. With this in mind I added 3 SSDs: a 980 Pro for the OS and Software a 980 Pro for Cashe files. a 860 Evo for extra storage. (Think download folder and a place to render too before placing it on the NAS) I choose the amount of RAM because of simulations in Houdini/AE and large scenes in C4D. I'm running 64GB at the moment, but still find myself running out on occasion. I've heard people say that the case will feel rather empty, which is fine with me. I chose the case mostly because of the hot swappable disk drives in the back. I've never done any overclocking, but would like to try to do so at least a bit. A few questions I have right now: - Are there parts here that are overkill/lacking compared to the rest and will it work together. - What do you guys think of these case fans? I've also been looking at the noctua nf-a12x25. - Do you guys think the 3600 Mhz memory will be a noticeable difference over say 3200 Mhz? Seeing as this would about a €120,- difference. - This €120,- Would be spend on Upgrading the Motherboard to have Wifi / BT, not a necessity but it would definitely be nice to free up some USB slots that are filled with Bluetooth dongles. Sadly the AORUS ELITE WIFI doesn't seem to be available in the Netherlands. Do you guys have a good alternative for this? - If not for the Motherboard what else would be a worth while upgrade here. - Do you guys have some good resources for teaching overclocking, or at least have a place to start? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Even if they are things I did not specifically ask for. Thanks in advance! Jim
  4. That's some great info, thanks a bunch! I'm not in a great rush, though would like to buy the system before 2021. (For tax. reasons, haha.) This shouldnt be an issue then though! So I'll wait a bit and see what will happen. BTW, why do you consider the Motherboard overkill? The Motherboard is the one piece of hardwear I don't know a ton about, might need to read into it a bit more.
  5. Thanks for this! It's true that an aircool would do just fine, but since I was thinking of OC it I thought it would be usefull. Was thinking of a Noctua NH-D15 as a plan B. In terms of the case. I really like how open it looks and doesnt seem to crammed in there, might put some light in it that's just white instead of RGB, but for sure a good recomendarion! I didn't think of the hdd speed, TBH I never really understood the speed thing. Could anyone clearify this for me? The RAM tip is also good, althouhg a bit scarry. I wanted to do the same thing with my PC now and bought another set of 64 GB but my PC wont recognize it. Did some research n it was about the speed or the number or something. So im worried I would run into the same issue. In terms of CPU, I wasnt aware that there were new Ryzens cumming up! Is there an ETA for the Ryzen 4000? Thanks a bunch!

I'm building a new PC for work. I'm an animator that works in Houdini, Cinema4D (With Octane renderer) and After effects primarily. Because of this I'm going with the i9-10900K Since AE doesn't utelize a lot of cores and prefers speed > corecount. Often the working files are stored on a local NAS, I know it's not the fastest but this way everyone can reach them, but since SATA storage aint very expensive I decided to add a 2nd drive to this system. I choose the amount of RAM because of simulations in Houdini/AE and large scenes in C4D. This might be overkill though. I'm running 64GB at the moment, but still find myself running out on occasion (Not too often). I've never done nay overclocking, but would like to try to do so at least a bit. (If you guys got good resources for teaching this that would be great) I really dont care for RGB in this build. I rather have it clean then a party machine, haha. A few questions I have right now: Are there parts here that are overkill/lacking and will it work together. Also, where could I somehow save some money or gain a lot of extra performance without breaking the bank. Thanks in advance! Jim
  7. Honestly never knew you should update your bios and windows separately o:). I'll keep you guys updated tomorrow! Thanks a bunch
  8. Thanks a lot ChintzyPC. I'll try this tomorrow first thing when at the office. I also read something about setting the voltage n speed in the bios instead of having it on auto. Is this something that could help? I couldn't take it off auto when I tried. Is this because of the possibly outdated BIOS?
  9. I'm not sure if my bios is. How do I check? Also; yea they are 2 brands because the old once weren't being sold anymore. would it be better to buy the once I just bought again so I got 4 of those. Or will that give issues as well. I did do some research before buying these and people said it shouldn't be too much of an issue. That you can even mix different speeds but it is more likely to cause issues.
  10. Hi Guys, I've not posted often, but I know people like to know specs of the system were talking about so let's start with that: CPU: Intel Core i7-7700 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 64.95 CFM CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus PRIME Z270-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Memory: GeIL EVO FORZA 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-2133 Memory Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Toshiba 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB WINDFORCE OC 8G Video Card Case: NZXT H440 ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit Oke now that's out of the way here is my issue: I use the above mentioned PC for 3D animation and I am running in RAM issues, so I decided to upgrade my RAM. Sadly the RAM I bought before is no longer sold, so I looked up the speeds and voltage of the RAM by using CPU-Z to get something that matches. It turns out that the RAM I already used had the following specs: 15-15-15-36 - 1.2V So I bought the following: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VGF48d/mushkin-enhanced-silverline-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-2133-memory-msl4u213ff16gx2 Now when I add these sticks and try to boot my system it won't start. the Motherboard will show a Yellow light indicating that there is a RAM issue. The 2 old sticks with either of the new once in either of the free slots will boot just fine though. The Asus PRIME Z270-A does, however, have a MemOK! button on it. When this is pressed the system will try to configure the RAM accordingly. after pressing this the system will restart and the BIOS shows up saying the RAM should be just fine. Going into the BIOS I can see all 4 sticks running at 2133MHz however the overall system is saying the memory runs on 1600MHz. I'm not sure why this is but it seemed odd so I thought it might be useful information (with 3 sticks this shows 2133 just fine.) Now the BIOS tells me to save the memory settings and restart. When I press save & reset the BIOS will tell me nothing has been changed. I press ok and the system restarts. This time no Yellow light. In fact no error lights at all. However, my screen stays black and my PC won't start. When I remove any of the 4 sticks and restart the system will run just fine once again. Do you guys have any suggestions why this might be? I dont think it's a faulty motherboard or RAM stick since any configuration with 3 sticks works just fine it's just that the 4 sticks together make it somehow not work. Thanks in advance! 11. Hi guys, So I bought a Xenyx 302USB today to fix some audio issues I had with my headset mic. (3.5mm jack) Now I have no clue how to set this up n the manual aint great but I got it to semi-work. I can hear my PC and I can hear my mic through my headset. however, my pc can't hear my mic at all :c I probably set it up wrong but is there someone who could help me with this o:-)
  12. after doing some more stuff like trying it on a different desktop I found that it ain't the headset but the computer for sure! A lot of ppl say it might be the PSU or the motherboard. to add some information the PSU is a: RM850i
  13. Realtek High Definition Audio 6.0.1.7786 (or do you need to know something else haha :p) Edit: Yes they are up to date.
  14. Hi guys! I got a question and you peeps certainly know more about this than I do! I bought a Beyerdynamic Custom Game after doing quite a bit of research it seemed like a good headset for me! However, after using it and skyping I was fairly disappointed by the mic quality since it has a constant beeping static. I used to use a Logitech G930 which had way worse sound quality but the mic didn't give any noise or static to the people I would skype with. After wanting to just return in due to this issue I decided to give it a try on my laptop and phone and guess what... no static at all! So the problem most likely ain't with the mic of the headset. So I tried to think of why the Logitech might not have this issue and the main difference between the 2 is that the Logitech is a USB headset where the Custom Game issues a 3.5mm jack. Doing some more research n finding that static occurs a lot more in 3.5mm jacks then USB connections and looking even further I found this video. What do you guys think? is it worth it to buy a USB adapter like this and give it a shot? Or is there something else I should try before doing this? People also mentioned it might be due to a shitty onboard soundcard so for the sake of information the motherboard I got is an Asus X99-A, is this a motherboard that is known for static audio? Or does it have nothing to do with this? Thanks a bunch!
  15. Thanks for the reply! But seeing the 34uc99 rumored price (about double the 34uc88) I won't be able to afford it n would still buy the 88 once the 99 comes out. I'm just wondering if the price of the 88 will drop drastically by then ^^
