Know why the 3500U performs better than 8250U in this model (Flex 14 / C340-14API)? The 3500U is configured with 25W long power limit while the 8250U is configured with typical 15W. This will vary between laptop models. Also, I think the power consumption figure for 3500U is wrong.

And is this model good? Decent.

So it was only after my Physics professor switched from teaching completely in theory and testing with free response to teaching completely by practical example that the class started to succeed.

It’s a shame that he started off the way he did because a lot of people wasted their time and money on his class that have since dropped.

The math isn’t hard, it’s really easy. It’s just that we weren’t being taught how to do it before.

unfortunately there's *still* not much to do with this thing, because pi4 support is still disappointing.

Rumor has it that Apple will not be using a scissor switch in the new 16” MBP after all. This is likely a last minute change from the probably unexpected drop in complaints for the latest generation of Butterfly keyboards.

I’m a big fan of the butterfly keyboards, especially the latest version which is incredibly stable and fast to type on.

RX 5500M! Finally a decent yet efficient AMD mobile GPU? Really hope the mobile card has 8GB VRAM

Now AMD needs to launch 7nm mobile CPU/APU. Then they can fight Intel in the laptop segment. Give me a full 7nm gaming laptop please

Claiming that the ZenBook Pro Duo is the “direction the industry is heading,” like Linus suggests, is not only completely delusional....but it’s just completely out of touch with the market.

The tech market demands compromise, not innovation. There is a time and a place for innovation, but sticking a second screen on top of the keyboard isn’t innovation, it’s silly.

thinking a closed off box, with intake over the GPU, and the power supply as the only exhaust (and the only fan, for that matter).

i'm also considering some silly stuff like adding some sort of "cartridge" system to load applications.

I managed to sell the Razer Core X for $190. Now with the 480 sold, I effectively made $80 off of flipping parts locally on OfferUp.

    Summary
Helios 300 2019 has slightly cooler temp due to higher fan speed (note that idle fan speed is audible unlike Y540 which is silent). Both of them have equally good cooling then. Note that Y540 is tested with 28WW BIOS which has slightly lower fan speed due to removal of max fan option.

Y540 is slightly faster in games with CPU UV+GPU OC (same with Helios 300 Turbo mode) with Optimus disabled. Slightly cheaper price too due to regular sales. If you prefer more metal build Y540 might not impress you though.

You might found out that I often recommend Legion Y540 recently. How good is it?

Cooling - (source from user) Under FPU+Heaven stress: 92-93C (PROCHOT 94C) and 75-76C respectively, 50w CPU and ~85w GPU (yes, not 80w) without thermal throttling. CPU undervolted but shouldn't be a factor (will still throttle to PL1 50W if not undervolted). Max fans enabled (26WW BIOS, performance mode) but only 50-52dBA according to Notebookcheck which isn't that loud tbh compared to other models. Ambient 25-27C. Should be able to improve temps with repaste (tested with stock paste). i7-9750H+2060 BTW.

MUX - full gaming performance without Optimus or 4-5 hrs battery life with Optimus

Price - priced quite cheap for its specs, often on sale, can customize

Build - plastic but doesn't feel cheap, just like Y530 (though 17 inch model has more chassis flex)

And other good things about Y530 (eg optional 144Hz, compact and not too heavy, good keyboard, decent audio etc)

(Not sponsored BTW, just my personal opinion)

Wonder if I should use my first paycheck to buy a better PSU and some silent fans. My system gets loud when playing games because they are so far into the body that they rev up a lot just to get some airflow.
