How does one clean pipes?

well mine are glass, so i just put it in a plastic bag with rubbing alchicol and salt, let it sit and shake it every once in awhile,

if the resin is really bad ill have to boil the pipe on the stove to get it out, but then the house will smell like burnt weed for a few days
