If it unmanaged your fine you can sell them as is.
If it password protected you might need to ask the company for the password.

Yea if you dont have fans on the top get two 120 mm blowing out the case if it is air cold use decent fans it does make a difference.

HI if you don't have the money to upgrade to a I5 or I7 have look at old 4 or 5 gen i3 build that would be a better choice.

It might be a better  to upgrade your mob for the new Ryzens chips.

Or what you could do if you have the power supply for it is .move 1050 ti in your system that you have now and stream off one of the video cards.

Also what do you want to do with NAS ?
Because if you want to do video encoding on it. Eg plex
cpu is no going to cute it.
  

What PSU is it because  if it still under warranty I would phone the technical support and see what the say there a good chance you might have to RMA.

What I would do is run a monitor test and see what your results are because look like you have Led damage witch why it shows worse on cert en colors .

I think you dad might want to right the pc off on tax that probably why he asking you to wait an till next year also it not a bad thing because Nvidia come out with a new chip set with there cards and it be interesting to compare and price might be better.
