TestedMATTIA reacted to JoHo in PC Meter Application in Windows 10
I've been using PC Meter in collaboration with the CPU- and GPU-Meter gadgets all the time in Windows 8.1 with the 8Gadgets software. That worked perfectly together. But now in Windows 10, it shows the gadgets and runs PC Meter, but my temperatures and GPU clocks don't show up in the gadgets. The two programs don't work together. Will I have to wait for an update or did anyone of you manage to make it work?

TestedMATTIA reacted to sof006 in Download Window 10 ISO and do fresh install instead of "free" upgrade path.
Download the tool, select which version of Windows you want. The tool downloads it for you and either downloads in ISO format or straight to a USB (your choice) then upon install you can input your microsoft account as your main user and it'll activate automatically.
You don't need to input any "legit" key anywhere, you can go about installing windows as normal. Its only right at the end when it asks for you to enter a product key - EDIT If you haven't got a Windows Insider Account.

TestedMATTIA reacted to Speakerator in Optical Drive nearly touching the Motherboard?
Is it really necessary to discuss whether or not OP may own a drive that is bound to short his board or not? There are hundreds of different drives out there, who cares....
OP, why don't you just fold around non-conductive tape around the edges of your drive? Even it is does touch your board any time in the future, it won't short out.
Pro-Benefit: electrical tape even makes plastic non-conductive
(though I do think that the edge of the board isn't that critical, BUT you get bragging right for a modded custom-color optical drive )
@Op2mus: next time please don't open two threads: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/386994-optical-drive-nearly-touching-the-motherboard/
Though they managed to give a short answer there ^^

TestedMATTIA reacted to ApolloX75 in Optical Drive nearly touching the Motherboard?
If your optical drive is fastened securely and your motherboard doesn't flop around like a fish I don't see it ever causing a problem.
Motherboards work with such low voltages that there's really never a chance of any arc happening. Plus the upper corners of most boards are usually rather sparse in terms of components.

TestedMATTIA reacted to slifer in Platform Launch and MASSIVE GIVEAWAY
WAIT HOLD UP. WE DONT WANT LINUS'S PERSONAL PC. The case has a lot of meaning to him guys. It was a gift from his wife. I believe it was the first gift from her too.
EDIT: Thanks for all the likes guys! Hopefully Linus or someone from LMG will read this and this will make Linus keep his build. Even if the goal of 100k is made we should convince Linus to do another build maybe, with signatures from the whole LMG family and maybe even his wife. This would let Linus keep the build he has with the special case his wife gave him. Besides, his personal PC would be more special to him than us.

Still have my fingers crossed that Skylake will make 6 cores mainstream with the i7. C'mon 10 core Extreme edition Broadwell-E or Skylake-E!

1. Budget & Location
$400USD
any stores in US/Canada
Cannot go over budget
do not count Mail in Rebate
2. Aim
Items must be new in box
Must be bought from a store, what store doesn't matter but shipping cost and taxes must be factored into the price
The goal of this post is to create the best computer from NIB parts from a store that we can in order to have it compete with the scrapyard wars computers
Must be a fully functioning computer with storage, a case... etc, but no OS required.

TestedMATTIA reacted to Shhuks in intel i3 4150 vs Pentium g3558
*Hyper-threading* I was also looking at the G3258, but I don't know from my own experience if it could handle those programs alone. I got my 4150 for the same price as a G3258 when it was on sale last week.

Its hyperthreaded and so on...basically an all around better chip

I just built a new rig with that 4150 and the on-board graphics can handle minimal gaming and the YouTube easy.

TestedMATTIA reacted to Trik'Stari in Shots fired! CNET's review of Alienware Alpha
I would hope that the console peasants would wake up, but sadly they won't. They are determined to make their purchasing decisions out of ignorance "I don't have time to build a PC!, I dont have time to make sure things are up to date, I don't have time to look up what kind of hardware I should need, etc".
They refuse to wake up and make responsible decisions, and the industry suffers as a result.

TestedMATTIA reacted to ShadowCaptain in VSENN - New competitor for Google's Project Ara
This is the problem with phoneblocks idea
If there are competing platforms, then the whole open platform idea is lost, as certain modules will only work on certain phones
I dont even know what to think anymore
