I'd say save the money and buy a G27, it is one awesome wheel and you can mod the gear stick to make it sequential. With the money saved you can treat him

    Intro
The Blackwidow Tournament Edition is the TKL (|Ten Keyless) version of the popular Blackwidow. Razer removed the Cherry switches from the keyboard for an alternative mechanical switch made in China that are cheaper to manufacture so the overall product cost is brought down. Is this trade off worth it? A simple answer would be yes but let's dive into the deep end to find out more about the product.

    Packaging and Build
As we have come to know already the Razer packaging is pretty much like an Apple product, which is to say that it is beautifully laid out and makes it feel like you bought a premium item which this certainly is. Inside the box you find another box (as Razer always do), a nice protective pouch, manuals, a removable braided cable and the keyboards itself. The keyboard doesn't look like anything special, it is the basic UK layout with a nice Razer logo at the bottom which lights up in the vivid green. After further inspection you see a kind of weird looking '@' symbol and the letter 'r' not being a capital, they don't affect the typing experience but it is a little niggle for someone that wants everything to look alike. Although, after a few days I had forgotten this existed as who looks at the keyboard when they type anyway. Since we are looking at the exterior, let's talk about the build quality. This keyboard is very sturdy, a shake or bend test did nothing, no creaks and no funny noises. I even went onto another level by dropping it from around 1ft onto the feet and nothing. This is a really good selling point due to this keyboard being targeted at the travelling gamer. Also another word on those feet, they have rubber on the bottom to stop the keyboard from slipping and even if you don't want to use the feet there are 5 rubber pads to prevent it as well, this is a big plus.

    Razer Green Switches and features
This is the most important part of the keyboard, how it feels to type on. Personally, I haven't used another mechanical keyboard before but I have felt the switches for a couple of minutes (just bear this in mind when I compare them). They closely resemble the Cherry MX blue swtiches in the way they feel and the amount of noise they make, they are quite loud so if you use it around people it will annoy them unless they love the sound. That's pretty much it, they are nearly the same of MX blues but just from a different manufacture making the keyboard cheaper overall, it is a good trade if you ask me. I won't get into the detailed specifications of the actuation point or the many millions of key presses as I can't really compare the actuation point and can't make an accurate judgement on how long the switches will last.
Ok let's get onto the features. This keyboard is TKL so it is missing the number pad which hasn't been missed by me since I got this keyboard. It has media keys across the top and with a hold of the function key you can mute, decrease or increase the volume. You can also pause/play, skip track or go back. F9 holds the key for a macro which works quite well and allows you speed up certain commands which take long to type in various different games. F10 holds the gaming key which locks the windows key so you can't accidentally press it and get thrown out of your game.

    Conclusion
Well, that is pretty much it. This keyboard is very solid and is prefect for someone will a smaller desk or someone that travels a lot with a laptop and they want to use it as an external keyboard. The key switch change that Razer has gone with was a bold move and I think it has paid off very well allowing them to decrease the cost of their keyboards whilst still keeping the same quality. I hope to see other manufactures going with this as well. I would rate this a solid 9/10. Also thank you to Razer for sending me this keyboard to review.
